This kit have a great song!
Wow great playing and the drums are tuned beautifully for this style of music. Will check this guy out more often!
Can't disagree, that shallowed kick keeps stable on Larnell's heavy hitter foot, it's really sturdy
He's not shy and lays into that bass drum, but it really holds its ground! 💪
One of my favorite songs off that Album
🔥🔥🔥👍🏽👍🏽 custom hip 🔥🔥🔥🔥👍🏽👍🏽 larnell lewis !!!
Kit sounds amazing... 😳
He's one of favorite drummers...
Larnell Lewis is such a pro
Awesome job and those drums sound amazing!
Dear Long & McQuade team! you're awesome thanks for answering stuff and being informative. bless!
You're welcome Monsieur Orlando!!
The 🐐
Beautiful playing, brother Larnell!
Great job. Love the mix of cymbals you have and the way you place them in the song. 🤘
sound is great!!! I live in Turkey and I hope I can get a Yamaha Stage Custom Hip Gig Kit. I really want to have these great drums!
Really a great sounding kit! Close your eyes, just listen, and you'd never know it was a compact kit like this!
Ultra pro!
❤😊
Smooth easy touch and feel . Not over played or played too fast . Nice pocket .
🙌🙌🙌
that fill from 3:59-4:04.... TASTY!
You're welcome we're glad they helped!
Love it! Anyone know what cymbal stands those are, looks like aluminum?
That's the Yamaha Crosstown hardware. You're right, it's aluminum! www.long-mcquade.com/113492
Anyone know what skins are being used? both on the toms, snare and kick drum? can't quite make out what they are. Thanks in advance.
The snare, tom and floor tom batter heads were changed to Evans G1 Coated. Everything else is stock.
what kind of cymbal is that small one near the hi hat?
Larnell answers this question (and runs down all his cymbals) in the full clinic here: ruclips.net/user/liveybnSrdYXs2c?si=Dk7w7gCHmhCUA6h5&t=1359
Are the reso heads swapped out too? Those batter Evans coated make all the difference!
No, stock heads on the bottom. But yes any high-quality head makes a world of difference in the sound of a kit!
@@longandmcquade did u change bass drum head?
@@samgrainger6778 Unfortunately we don't remember :( And there's no angle/footage to reference for proof. If we had to guess, we'd say no. Likely stock bass drum heads but swapped the toms and snare.
@Sam Grainger Ah hah! We actually found a photo during set up. It is the stock head. photos.app.goo.gl/VVrNURxTpNH4Mz8u5
@@longandmcquade the whole kit sounds excellent. Do you remember what exact model of evans heads have been used here?
What do buyers think of the snare? I can imagine such a kit has to do cost savings. I see Yamaha selling snare drums the price of the entire kit. Just curious
All you need to do is use your ears! Yes there are snare drums out there that cost the same or more than this entire kit, but the snare that's included with this Stage Custom Hip kit sounds great!
Triggers on this folks rember
@@ronaldwhite3836 The triggers/EAD10 weren't used for this portion of the livestream clinic. The more traditional Sennheiser mics you see set up around the kit are what we used for the recording of this song. Larnell starts using the effects from the EAD10 during his drum solo immediately following his performance of "Rejoice". The solo (with the delay effects applied from the EAD10) can be seen here: ruclips.net/video/w6JH1so_aKE/видео.html
I see the Yamaha EAD10 on the kick. Was this used overall mix?
No, we have a selection of Sennheiser mics on the kit for the acoustic sounds. The EAD10 was used to mix in some effects during a drum solo (not used in this clip).
sounds great. is this sponsored by yamaha? wonder why he chose this kit?
Yes it was. He chose it because that's what Yamaha had set up for him in their Performance Center. The Yamaha Stage Custom Hip was a new kit at the time and Larnell wanted to check it out. He liked it. He walked out the door with it!
@@longandmcquade thanks for the open, fast, and honest answer! doubting between this kit and the tama club jam, for funk.. tough decision.
and whats that electronic pad he's using to trigger samples? anyone know? thanks!

That tiny mini-crash like cymbal that is curved … what is it called? I love these accents.
Check out this portion of the full clinic and he explains it: ruclips.net/video/ybnSrdYXs2c/видео.html
Thank you!
A bit disingenuous to say he’s playing the SC Hip kit given there’s an EAD10 on the kick and a trigger on the rack tom - who knows what the EAD10 was set to?
We do, because we filmed and recorded it!! ;) The EAD10 wasn't used for this portion of the livestream clinic. @@longandmcquade 😂 that’s me told! Thanks for the clarification. I take it all back!
@@jake_stacey That being said, the fact that you thought that the sound of the SC Hip Kit might have been enhanced by the EAD10 just proves how great the kit sounds naturally with regular ol' mics!
@@longandmcquade absolutely - I’m really surprised it sounds that good (mind you, I’m sure Larnell could make ice cream tubs sound good!
With this color, this kit pretends to be a Recording Custom.
