This is the absolute best I’ve heard these tuned out of all the videos I’ve seen across the internet. Your tuning actually makes me want to purchase them. I’m assuming there’s a bit of post production done on the toms
I have owned a Stage Custom Birch 22/16/12/10/14s kit (also Black Raven) since Oct 2023, and wow what a kit. And every single audio sample / review I hear of this Hip version is just stupid good. The shallow depths really punch (not dissimilar to my vintage 22x16 RC kick). I do not hear any downsides to this kit unless you're really needing big-style drums to begin with. Love this kit's punch.
Okay... am I the only one who sees that blurred out blotch in the upper left hand corner of the video? Am I crazy?? Also, thanks for doing a review of this kit, I've been curious about it!
Hey Drummer's Review, I bought this kit after seeing this video but really struggle to tune it, particularly pitching the snare side head of the snom as its quite loose around the snare beds unless cranked! Would be really grateful if you could give me some pointers (or even better tuning freqs used in this video) as it sounds great here Thanks for your time and help! Andy :)
Thank you! since portability is a major factor in favour of this kit, it suprises me that there are no dedicated bags for this shell kit. Which bag/case do you recommend?
I was surprised at the comment stating the Stage Custom was introduced "as an affordable Recording Custom, using the same type of birch shells and single piece lugs." While I don't doubt that this originated from a marketing kiosk, the Stage Custom isn't close in sound as a Recording Custom. I do appreciate your review and would like to have heard this kit with higher bop tuning. Thank you. ' '.
I've got a Yamaha Birch custom Absolute kit. With the shell's painted red on the inside. I was told by a guy that this is basically a recording custom but with different lugs.
I don't like 1.5mm rims much, they always feel cheap. I like the bass drum a lot more than the rest of the kit. Yamaha standard single braced hardware is perfectly usable/gigable unless you are a hardcore/metal animal drummer.
I’ve just bought one which was in great condition despite bringing 2nd hand. The “floor” Tom with the snare? The 1st thing I did? Remove the snare! Problem solved.
This kit falls straight into the category “things I don’t need”, but I still want it. :-) , I like the bass drum punch and that floor tom is great!
Man I feel exactly the same way. Looks like it would be quite easy to haul around.

STAGE custom sounds greats always no matter sizes....
Small drums, great sound, impeccable presentation.
Hey can You tell me what frequency(hz) your drums are tuned to at the beginning of the video(snare, 1st tom, 2nd, 3rd and kick) or what note?

Yeah what's the blurred bit about?
What is that blur in the left upper corner
Can an extra tom be added to this kit
Just perfect.
I’ll say I miss their Hip Gig kit really bad & never understood why they stopped making them.
But this one fills the gap pretty good.😉
The Hipgig was cool, but I think they were very expensive to produce. Over time, they became a niche item.
great drums and great sound

Use the HW3 crosstown hardware pack with that set.

Nice review! Greetings, Chris!
those floor tom legs are comically long
Great video and review!
Can the floor tom be sold separately?
What cymbal models and sizes were used?
Which is mic set up ,sound great ,please tell me.
This kit sounds really good 👍 almost perfect 🤔

Me too 😀
Sound aside (which is decent), these shallow shells look freakish to me!
I prefer Nolly......
Most yammie birch snares cost more than this entire kit haha!
ca sonne bien ,ou il ,faut pas oublier qu'il y a des micros
my old sonor safari kit sounded way better and bigger
