  • In part 3 we finish the seams on stage one, build stage 2, build stage 3 and get going on a J2 engine.

I e watched "Vinrage Space" for several years - before COVID actually. Very informative, and she's a Canuk as well 👍👍.

Keep building Nige. I think it's great that you multi-task, helps the "new" modelers, while keeping us old farts interested.

Hi Nigel, those sanding sticks are made for nails. Look on ebay for "nail zebra file" and there is loads of choice of shapes sizes n grits. P. S. I'm loving the channel, atb, Heath.

Nigel great video as usual. Have you ever used Blue Magic polishing compound for plastic and plexiglass? I .put it on with an old cotton T-shirt and finish up with a cotton ball, all this after initial sanding oh course. Blue Magic is available on Amazon. Keep up the good work, techniques you use are applicable to many different genres. I’ve been modeling since I was about 10 and am now 70 and I never tire of the hobby, may take some time away now and then but always come back to it. If you are like me and I suspect many others I have more kits in my stash than I will ever build and that includes the 10 or so in various stages of completion. Looking forward to your build along when you get back to it.

Another way of clamping those fins is to put a bit of blue-tac on each side of the fin. This gives some friction for the clamps to grip the fin.

To be honest, many kit prices aren't too bad for kids. The problem is everything else you need. Just starting out with a £10 kit, you can easily spend over a hundred just to get glues, paints tools etc. Heck, even going cheap just to get everything could be double that

The airfix starter sets are great value for money as are the revell ones. I'd recommend a revell starter set great glue and ok brush. Then only a nail file and a nipper or knife.

@20:30 Hurrah - at last someone in Internetland describes how to file a curve correctly. Mr Evans (my 1970's Metalwork teacher) sheds a silent tear every time someone on the Internet says "follow the curve around" - noooo.
Dear reader, if you are not used to it, it will "feel" really wrong rocking the file "the other way" until you re-learn the motor skills, but it's worth the effort as one achieves a better shape and cause much less collateral damage to the surrounding material.

For the record, everything is faster than a Ford Mustang.

@@NigelsModellingBench Full disclosure: I drive a Camaro. As we all know, the Camaro is a small and vicious predator that eats wild horses...😂When I saw 'Wrong", I thought I'd made some bone-head error about the Saturn. VERY nice fix on the inter-tank ribs. THose things are actually slightly rectangular hollow braces. THey stick out maybe, 3 CM from the side I think.

Sorry, but it was a long time ago and I don't remember all of them. Just the basics will do.
