If I wasn't terrified of flying over the ocean, I'd spend every dollar I have to play a round with OMP. One of the greatest people on the earth, you are sir.
Queen Mary 2 will get you there. Unless you have zero affinity toward traveling by ocean. OMP would love to see you. I’m sure he could find time for a quick 9 with his busy schedule All the Best. Would love to see it happen. Please do it it would be truly Epic, by boat! 7 nights
OMP I love this video, makes so much sense. I can’t hit big so this is the play for me. Stay on the short stuff and stay away from danger. Then watch my mates hit big into danger 👍
This video should win an Oscar. Everything OMP says I say to myself “yes,of course, that makes sense” …. just wish I could remember it all when I’m playing. We just need to play to our handicap and not try and play above our standard. Pat you’re a wonderful person the world should have more people like you 👍
Such wise words. I keep telling my high handicaper golfer friends to aim to play bogey golf, that usually means 90...or better, sometimes worst, but the idiots keep thinking it's cool to wack it long. And they end up around 100. I improved my game as I got older by using better course management. OMP is the perfect example of what many of us should do to enjoy more fun AND better scores. Great tips OMP, wish we could play a round together someday. Cheers!
Since the very beginning of this channel, I have always had nothing but ❤and admiration for our favorite 🧙♀OMP. I apparently even asked nurses and the surgeon when I was drugged up "Are you a GolfMate?....you look like a GolfMate!
OMP! You teach what ny Dad taught us. To be smart, play the course and never let the course play you! To this day I aim to the open areas and play to a yardage i like for approach just the wY he taught me. Please keep these coming. You are a Gold mine sir!
A few years ago I started watching you play, and I was able to break 90 for the first time using your advice. Now I break 90 all the time. Thank you for sharing.
Always followed OMP . Stress free golf teaches you a hell of a lot. You don't learn much in the trees. Followed his advice , got better , went from 26 to 12 in one season at age of 63. Cheers OMP and Liam.
Loved them all, especially the first chipping one. I often skull it over the green the biggest problem is when playing elevated greens. I do try my best to outsmart the course occasionally with success. Love your ball retriever just ordered one.
My goal this season is break 90 and OMPs advice over the last few years has always been solid. Play short if there's trouble or club up if it's safe to go long. Red light green light has been an absolute game changer for me and now I'm chasing 90 all good advice has got me under 100 . Would love to have a round with the legend that is old man pat! 👑👌
The man - the legend - OMP! You are always an inspiration to me, Pat. Everybody should listen carefully to your tips, they are gold nuggets and take away the pressure from everybody's game.
When I retired and started playing golf in earnest four years ago, I stumbled upon your videos and have watched ever since. Most importantly, I learned much just from watching OMP and his magnificent approach to play. OMP's tips have lowered my score by 10 strokes at least in the last three years. I use his "traffic light" system every round. And I've learned to play it safe, and not take the million-to-one miracle shots from the woods. OMP also taught me to take more club than you might need and swing easy. Don't over play your abilities. And another great lesson from OMP: Never listen to your partners! Just hit the damn ball and get on with it! Great job, OMP!! And great job Liam and the rest of the Chorlton-cum-Hardy gang!
Always a treat seeing OMP in action. I'd never play short on a Par 3, but there are a few that I play to deliberately miss the green left or right because the green slopes ridiculously towards the water. Plain and simple, *take double-bogey out of play.*
Mr. OMP, you play golf so relaxed that it has helped me on the course. I also have begun putting more from off the green instead of chipping. It's helped my score. And I must thank you for that. Thanks for the video Liam and OMP. Martin USA
OMP continues to show how it should be done, of course it helps if you strike the ball as cleanly as he does. My problem seems to be that I miss hit when I’m not doing a full swing so bump and runs are a no-no I’m afraid. Still I love watching the old magician at work. Thanks OMP.😊
Most of the golf channels give advice for lower handicap golfers who smash their clubs (200 yard 5 iron). This is the first and best advice I have seen for mere mortals. Thank you very much.
OMP you are a golfing legend. Showing us that it's not all just about pure ball striking but also, thinking sensibly about what shot to play and importantly, remembering to stop thinking we're pro golfers. Sir OMP, thank you.
Scores for us amateurs are indirectly proportional to our egos. Lots to learn from Pat❤. Could you please put out a video showing how to break 80? I’m stuck in the low 80’s…
Before my back injury last year....I was still playing once or twice a month....and I learned from watching OMP not to try to hit my driver off the tee. I started teeing off with my 7 wood ( A vintage 1994 Callaway Heaven 7 wood ) and my handicap dropped from an 18 to a 14 within 3 months! I used to be a really big hitter off the tee when I was in my 30's and carrying a 3. But 300+ yard drives are not something I can do anymore....but a 170 yard 5 wood or 140 yard 7 wood is easy for me! My chipping and putting has always been the best part of my game....and the last Senior day I played in I shot an 80....and with my 14 handicap, I won the 65 - 69 year old class with a net 66. I OMPed myself around the course...and pitched in twice for birdies on two of the Par 3's. Now...if the doctor's can fix my 2 discs in my lumbar area...I'll be a happy man!
Loved Pats tip on the Par 5. I don’t know how many times I’ve tried to hit a Driver when I couldn’t reach in 2 or end up in trouble off the Tee because I’m blocked out by a tree. Pat is like the Golfing Yoda! Everyone can learn something from Pat.
I will hit driver... sometimes... My home course (where I'm also the cook), is 6065 yards, par 71. I hit driver on maybe 2 holes, a round, if I'm posting a score. I have a 17-degree Apex UW, I hit 220-240.... I don't need driver, when I have wedge into every par-four on the front with it, and every par-4 on the back except 17 (that's 446 yards),
As a one handed golfer who has been playing golf for six years hitting your sort of distance I find following your course management very helpful. Watching this vlog is a good reminder of what I need to take on to golf course to break 90. My best so far this year is 92. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. Wishing you all the very best. 😊⛳️🏌️♂️
Love it when OMP emparts his experience for us amatures. I’ve got four rounds booked in the next four weeks and will try to implement OMP tactics during each round.
I play a lot of bump and runs around the greens, have done even since I watched a video of Pats way back about taking a 7 or 8 iron and getting it running. It's definitely helped drop my scores and broke 90 a couple of times now.
OMP that was absolutely sensational. I wish they'd get you on the channel more often! Thankyou for your insights, we are honoured and lucky to have access to hear from you.
Once again the master has spoken with the voice of reason, if we all followed his advice we would all be better golfers with lower handicaps, respect ❤❤❤❤❤
You can’t fault OMP knowledge of how to play simple. Just make sure you know the distance and your club distance to go 1over ever hole. Thank you sir. You always make your tips so simple to follow. 👍🏻👍🏻
What a breath of fresh air, a man who has been there seen it,done it, watched the video, and had the tee shirt, who is now making his own video to help others play better safer more enjoyable golf, quality pat I hope you play for many more years and a big thank you for so much valuable advice and tips,👍 there’s nothing better than watching an inspirational man of your years playing golf and making such a difficult game for so many look easy cheers.👏👏👏
Thanks pat playing in morning your video has made me realise we're I loose most of my shots , it's driver of the tee gets me in trouble lots , gonna try your wisdom out tomorrow thanks your a legend mate . All the best .
What a legend! I started golf a year ago and have found it very difficult to accept how hard it is. I’ve grown up playing sport and have never played something so hard. Picking it up in your late 20s isn’t easy! I got 99 a few times but have more recently managed a 96 and a 90 (par 70), surrounded by a lot of 100-110s! These tips are invaluable for me Pat, thanks mate. Breaking 90 is the goal for 2023!
Mr Pat, a gentleman, and still the best golfer I have seen on Golf Mates. I have just come of the course and thought about how I play. The next time I play will be Saturday in a comp. I will be following OMP's tips and advice. Oh and what a smart dressed golfer too.
Pat, as a new golfer, at 65! I now cant wait to play again, using your simplistic strategy and see my score reduce to below 100 as it is now. You are a legend, a true gentleman of the game, thank you for the advice.
No man better at explaining how to make the game simple and enjoyable. I can watch his effortless swing all day long. I wear my OMP hat over here in the U.S. with pride. Thank you Pat and Liam.
OMP you sir are my golf grandad! And there is nothing more special to me than a grandfather. Always listened to stories my grandfather told me. He is a legend just like you. ❤
Haven't been successful with my driver so I play with a 3 wood off the tee. Average carry is 205, but it goes where I aim. Last time I played in our mens club I shot a 110. Last week I played and shot a 93. Following OMPs advise. Thank you sir for the great advice.
Love this man and he specks the truth.. we all want to hit as far as we can and get the best outcome but thats where most of us go wrong.. course management is key!!
Well done OMP, I need to have the same mind set as I end up topping the ball because I am trying to get the ball as far as I can. Play within your game and bring your score down, Pat makes it sound so simple.
Wise words from the star golfmate OMP - such a gent too - and a great putter - I love a gentle 8 - learnt that from Pat a good few years ago and it was the single best improvement in my game
I remember before i broke 90. I stumbled on this channel and watched Pat. I broke it within a couple of rounds just seeing how he got around the course helped me loads
An absolute joy to watch and listen to omp, your so right in what your saying, play with in yourself and as you said know your yardage with each club, more videos with omp please
Well done Pat, truly inspirational coming from your vast experience. Recently had my driver being repaired, which has forced me to play this way on longer par 4's. It has certainly made golf easier and dare i say more enjoyable.
Amazing help I haven’t been playing golf for about ten years occasionally one or two rounds a year handicap of 9 still some how but struggled to brake 90 but this video allowed me to go round in 82 first hit out thanks Pat and golf mates
This video and advice is pure gold. As a high handicapper I'm going to try and play like this the next time I play, which with the UK weather will sadly be quite a few months away. Pat is just so consistent with such a casual and easy swing. I'd love to have a swing like that - as he rarely misses the target! What a player, am in awe of his shot and distance control.
Great advice by a true gentleman. I go through stages where I play above my ability and then remember to play less aggressively which does result in a better score. Thanks Pat 👍🏻🇦🇺
Top tips OMP, I'm a +1 handicap and I play the same way. I use a driver off the deck especially in the wind as it automatically keeps the ball low. Sometimes if I can't reach a par 5 in two then a couple of nibblers and a love shack and it's sorted. Nibbler is my 23 degree rescue club, so called, because it nibbles away at the hole and love shack is my B52 i.e. 52 degree wedge. Love the videos.....keep it going
Pat's philosophy is so simple and effective, but us 90+ shooters invariably don't copy him. I had seen Pat before explain this and I followed it. My handicap came down and I was getting sub 90s. Then I had a break and I am back to the driver off every tee....Hmm. This video has come just right for me. Thank you Pat for your very wise words (but I wonder if Liam will still take a driver off that hole.....).
Love all u guys over the pond. Pat is amazing. If he chips and puts well he's going low but not in trouble strokewise before getting to green. I had too many 6, 7 and occasional 8's to go along with some pars and bogies. Now I am being less aggressive and it is paying off. I have played more rounds without losing balls and taking penalty strokes. I have also changed to single length irons with my most used club an 8 iron and 3 and 5 woods are same length too helping me further with miss hits. I also got a moonwood 9 wood 25 degree loft and same length as my other woods. Scores lowering...Thanks PAT!
I always love Pat on the channel. If possible, I would love for Pat and Liam to sit down and talk about Pat's life from childhood to today.
Love that 👌 he's such a legend.. definitely going to put this into practise on Friday and see
Oooh , love that idea , make it happen Liam !
Great idea Dimtri, I'm sre Pat has loads of great stories he could regail us with.
I vote for a book on omp's life and golf wisdom lessons. I'd fly from Florida and have him sign it.
I second that great idea
If I wasn't terrified of flying over the ocean, I'd spend every dollar I have to play a round with OMP. One of the greatest people on the earth, you are sir.
Couldn't have said it better myself my friend. He is an absolute Saint of a man man.
A hero of mine too pal, would love to play a couple of holes with the legend
Queen Mary 2 will get you there. Unless you have zero affinity toward traveling by ocean. OMP would love to see you. I’m sure he could find time for a quick 9 with his busy schedule All the Best. Would love to see it happen. Please do it it would be truly Epic, by boat! 7 nights
Real great tips to take out all risks. Love your relaxed way of playing. Keep up the good work!!
I'd be terrified to fly over the ocean as well. That's why I leave all that to the pilots.
Isn't it great to watch a legend make a frustrating complicated game so simple a real pleasure to watch Pat play
Great to watch him indeed. I just wish I would follow his advice and improve my game. Maybe this will be the year.
You can't fault OMP...absolutely a legend and a thinker around the course ❤
Absolutely perfect way of doing it especially if your a higher handicap. Well done again OMP.
OMP = Simply the Best. It is a real pleasure to watch you play. Thanks Pat for sharing knowledge.
OMP should be an instructor, He makes it seem so easy when he talks about it. What a great person he is to have on your channel
National golfing treasure. Great to see him absolutely striping it still, would kill for his game. Awesome Pat, thanks for the tips
OMP I love this video, makes so much sense. I can’t hit big so this is the play for me. Stay on the short stuff and stay away from danger. Then watch my mates hit big into danger 👍
Fellow Irish man here 🇮🇪- OMP what an absolute legend 🙏 - just got back into golf and I will definitely use these tips!

Thank you OMP. Keep our wheels turning on the course to eliminate the problems and increase the success.
A great show of common sense golf. Great to see you back on the channel OMP. Look forward to seeing more of you in the summer golf sessions. 👍🏻
OMP! You teach what ny Dad taught us. To be smart, play the course and never let the course play you! To this day I aim to the open areas and play to a yardage i like for approach just the wY he taught me. Please keep these coming. You are a Gold mine sir!
Great to see you out! OMP! Took your lesson with great interest. 👍 We hope to get out soon.
A few years ago I started watching you play, and I was able to break 90 for the first time using your advice. Now I break 90 all the time. Thank you for sharing.
Many years of experience brings you where you are today OMP pleasure to watch.
Honestly. Watching Pat and listening to him, gives me that feel good factor. Every time.

Master at work. My dad taught me exactly the same thing about the bump and run when there is nothing in front of the green. Massively underrated shot.
Great video. OMP is a class act. I don’t think OMP will ever have a problem finding the fairway.
I play a lot of bump and runs around the greens, have done even since I watched a video of Pats way back about taking a 7 or 8 iron and getting it running. It's definitely helped drop my scores and broke 90 a couple of times now.

Enjoy seeing Pat and learning from his wisdom. Thankful for closed captioning!
What a gent OMP..I love watching him and listening to his wise words and strategy.... Keep it up Pat. 🙌👋
Masterclass. A succinct lesson of mastery where swing mechanics were minimized and course management maximized. ❤
Pat, as a new golfer, at 65! I now cant wait to play again, using your simplistic strategy and see my score reduce to below 100 as it is now.
You are a legend, a true gentleman of the game, thank you for the advice.
OMP is an absolute legend!
Thanks for the content Liam and crew.
No man better at explaining how to make the game simple and enjoyable. I can watch his effortless swing all day long. I wear my OMP hat over here in the U.S. with pride. Thank you Pat and Liam.
What a gentleman and scholar. OMP speaks sense once again. 😊
OMP, the man, the myth, the legend! What a video, I absolutely love that effortless swing of yours👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
As a beginner golfer who'd be happy to break 120, never mind 90, this was fantastic. First time seeing Pat, and I can see why OMP is so beloved.
OMP‘s advice is much more helpful to every golfer than the tons of training videos of the pro‘s you‘ll find here. Thank you sir. 🙏
best piece of advice iv ever watched on RUclips for a 24HCP like me !
Love this man and he specks the truth.. we all want to hit as far as we can and get the best outcome but thats where most of us go wrong.. course management is key!!
I'm 68 Pat, and losing some distance off the tee. I'll be giving these tips a go. Thank you!
OMP what a legend. Course management at the pro level. Great video Liam. Cheers Mate
Well done OMP, I need to have the same mind set as I end up topping the ball because I am trying to get the ball as far as I can. Play within your game and bring your score down, Pat makes it sound so simple.
What a genuinely nice guy. Great tips on the golf course. Wishing you all the best 🏌️
Wise words from the star golfmate OMP - such a gent too - and a great putter - I love a gentle 8 - learnt that from Pat a good few years ago and it was the single best improvement in my game
Pat is a Genius! I’m playing his way when I got out tomorrow, love these videos. Thanks Gents
only a fool wouldn't take something out of this video. Absolute master OMP. Living legend.
Thank you so much for this, Liam. OMP is certainly your greatest asset.
I remember before i broke 90. I stumbled on this channel and watched Pat. I broke it within a couple of rounds just seeing how he got around the course helped me loads
What great advice from OMP. Always enjoy watching, and listening to his advice on how to play. So simple even I can understand it.
Long live Pat. He is the best thing about the channel.
What a legend and the ability to back it up, cheers 🍻 OMP !!
What a star you are pat great advice for an easier more relaxed round
Amazing help I haven’t been playing golf for about ten years occasionally one or two rounds a year handicap of 9 still some how but struggled to brake 90 but this video allowed me to go round in 82 first hit out thanks Pat and golf mates
Thanks OMP , I’ve got a medal this weekend and I’ll be using some of your tips to hopefully shoot a respectable score 👍🍀👏👏👏

What a bloke makes it look so easy thanks pat for the pearls of wisdom 👍🏻
Makes total sense Keep it simple & stay out of trouble
Absolutely
Great to hear Pats tips, reminds me of what I was told a long time ago. Keep it on the fairway and you will save a shot a hole.
I’ve heard on the QT, “old man Pat” was on the driving range with John Rahm prior to his last round at Augusta.
Simply magic, what a golfer, big respect Pat 😊❤
What an absolute hero this man is. Great tips OMP 😁
Just an absolute pleasure to watch OMP thinking his way around the course.
Thanks OMP will take this advice onto the course tomorrow and see how it goes. Great viewing as always, thanks Liam
