When I was younger, single handicap, I used to get angry at every bad shot. These days I am playing off 15, I am not trying to improve. I accept the bad days and you enjoy the good days. Most of all I enjoy the golf with a good group of friends. It's supposed to be fun!
Well said pal I’m happy if I’m in the 90s it’s about getting out with your mates taking in the scenery and having a good day out 👌 watching this video it might help my game 🤞🏻
As a 70 year old with only 2 years golfing under my belt, what an inciteful video. Brings course management to the front instead of just trying to batter the ball down the fairway. Liam, I want your Shotscope.
This has been one of the best golf videos I’ve ever watched on RUclips, Liam. It’s been honest, warts and all, educational and just shows you don’t have to hit your driver 200+ yards to break 90! Many of my senior players don’t hit it far but they do hit it straight, which is more important, and your playing strategy was just right. I will be putting this system into practice on my next t round and leave the driver in the bag. Thanks again Liam, great stuff.
Liam, Liam, Liam... I think your best videos are when you're alone, like in the beginning. It's absolutely stupendous. Oh, and you can keep your watch!
I've heard people talk about this basic strategy before, but it was really eye-opening to see it put into practice by a low handicapper. I will definitely be trying this next time out. It's also great to see that even an 8-handicap can be learning new strategies. Love the commentary. As you said, this is real golf. The good and the bad. Well done.
Liam I want your Shotscope. I’m 70 and don’t have the distance I once had. I play similar to how you played today and am happy breaking 90 these days. Golf is all about enjoyment, getting out with friends and having a pint afterwards. Brilliant video as always.
I broke 100 for the first time last week. Been playing 18 months. This video is great for us high handicappers. Thanks Liam. Liam, I want your Shotscope!
Liam I want your Shot Scope. Fantastic video. I play off 20 and have no woods in my bag - I have always struggled with them. So watching your video has really shown me the way forward - “Widest par 3 in the world” will be my new mantra.
Real golf and shows what you can do .The only thing that you do that many won't do as high handicappers , is strike it good even if off line. . But great video . Well Done 👍
Best video. Real golf. Im 68 yrs young. Only use 7 iron and above and 1 rescue club. With good course management a good score can be achieved. Well done Liam
Nearly always use the 8 iron chip and run because my chipping is not great. had my best 9 holes today a 40 round Kirkby Lonsdale. Not bad for a 14 handicapper
Fantastic video, I need to take this on board . After having a stroke 4 years ago( thankfully I'm pretty much OK with just a slightly weaker left side which occasionally creates some weird and wonderful shots) my handicap has unfortunately hit a very high 26 from 15. Most of my problems occur from trying to hit driver or woods. Hitting irons most of the time keeps me out of trouble and would possibly bring my handicap down to somewhere reasonable. The one good thing from my little hospital visit is that if and when I hit a bad shot I no longer get angry I just smile and think to myself ' be happy I'm here playing golf , it could have been a very different outcome' . Liam love watching all the golfmates videos , they're always entertaining . Liam I want your shotscope
Two year's ago, I was playing off 24, started playing in Wednesday Comps with the OMP'S of my club, their advice, why try smashing a 3 wood off fairway, put a 6 iron up middle and keep ball in play. Straight and steady. I'm now playing off 12 using that method. No driver in bag, and I hit my 3 wood 190/200 but consistently straight with it .
I routinely play with 7 or 8 clubs because it's so much lighter to carry. And when i found out Francis Ouimet won a US Open with 7 clubs! Well.. cmon. Liam I want your shotscope! Well done out there! Keep up the good work.
Great video, eye opening to take on board some of the risk aversion tactics. Sometimes, it's better to lay up or take danger out of the equation than it is to pay the price of a penalty shot if you get it wrong!
I'm just back playing after 17 years. First few rounds...100+, balls lost, penalties galore. Watched this video. Have taken 4i and above out of my bag. Played par 3 yesterday... went under 30 for first time in my life. 8i/9i chip and run gave me 7 greens out of 9. Can't wait to get back out on a full course and use my mid irons from tee to 100yds out. Game- changing. Potentially life- changing. Bravo
Thanks Liam, there was a lot I have learned from that videoI play most Wednesdays and always try to drive long and go for the green and then wonder why I score late 90 to 105, I’ll give your lesson a try. I’d love one of your watches. 👍👍
Have watched this video a few times, love it , I dropped my driver and 3 wood from my bag, only had a 4hybird to tee off with, avg 205 with my 4 hybrid , played at the weekend a shot 81 , OMP says the trees are full of big hitters , my 4 hybrid isn’t big enough to reach the trees, more golfers should try this method and watch your scores drop, thanks Liam . Up the golfmates
Liam, I want your Shot Scope please! Beginner here and only just getting back into golf after not playing for over 10 years. Your channel is a joy to watch. Thank you!
As someone kept saying, brilliant video, you make it look so easy and just all common, trouble is I haven't got any of that on the golf course. Liam I want your golf scope
Hey Liam I want your shot scope I'm a 17 handicap and shot an 85 last week trying to play within myself taking an extra club and swinging 80-85% and trying to play to the biggest part of the greens great video lad most enjoyable
Liam mate , tired old knackered decorator here , mate i went from 13 handicapp to 6 handicapp in 6 months using hybriids at the bottom of my bag !!! Great vid pal !!! Oh and liam i want your shotscope watch 😂
Been raining every weekend for well over a month in Sydney meaning no golf...watching your videos is the next best thing to getting out there...Can't wait til the next tee time, fingers crossd for next Sunday...🤜💥🤛
Hi Liam, thank you so much for this fantastic video, it will help me tremendously when I’m next on the course (this Wednesday in a golf competition). I will apply everything I have learnt from your video in the hope that it will reduce my numbers. Kind regards, Paul
This is a great video and shows how real golf looks. I learned more about my play from his bad shots and different approaches. This was a good look and very realistic
Liam i want your shotscope! The video i needed to watch, im 19hc and the ego is staying in the car when i play on sunday.hoping to break 90 for the first time this season.. ill come back here when ive done it!
Such a great video providing a completely different way to get around the course. I will definitely be giving this a go! Lets see that 200 yard episode.
I reached 70 this year and as expected my length has waned over the last few years. Videos like this are not only helpful but spirit raising too! Thank you for what you do....... Liam, I want your Shotscope.
Liam I want your Shotscope. Love this video and is what I'm working on this year.....par 4 on in 3 down in 2, par 5 on in 4 down in 2......par 3 depending on yardage will go for the green but will happily take lay up to get on in 2 and down in 2. Bogey golf with a couple of pars is my goal.
Liam I want your shotscope.absolutly brilliant video that everyone can learn something from. I struggle to break 90 alot so this should help me immensely. Thanks 👍
Liam I want your Shotscope. Great video mate. Now that I am getting older and don’t have the length i once had this video shows me I can still score. Thanks Mate.
Just discovered this channel as I'm trying to get back into golf after not playing for nearly 20 years. I was a "casual 28 handicapper" never really bothered. I'm now wanting to take it more seriously just before turning 40 years old. Can't beat a Warrington lad listening to someone's who appears to be a Wiganer.
I've watched this video 3 times now, and only yesterday I managed to break 80 for the first time, really opened my eyes, never hit a 5 iron of the tee that many times before, but what a difference, excellent advice on it. I would love your shotscope.
Liam, I want your Shotscope! Great video. As a 25 handicapper who rarely gets a chance to play and struggles massively with driver, I'm definitely going to use these tips. My best rounds have always been when I've played 'sensible' golf.
Great video and shows what happens if you play sensibly and to your handicap. Liam, I want your shotscope. Really enjoyed this video. Please do another one with maybe a 200 Yard limited club, which would help all of us shorter hitters off the tee.
Liam, I love this Video. Being a 22 Handicap, I always try and look for easier ways to play. I played the other day at my local course and shot 92. Well happy with this. Might be able to to take a few more fivers on the near future! :) keep going Golf Mates!
Shot a 95 on Friday but l had 2 x 7s and an 8. I’m a 22 handicap and l lost a 97 so couple of points off. Couldn’t drive consistently but my rescue Club saved me allowing boggy golf for the most part, so played 4 iron off the tee back 9 which made a big difference. I also use my 8 and 9 iron for anything under 70 yards. Great video again Liam, right up my street. Keep them coming please.
This was a brilliant video, Liam. Take the Macho out of golf and a great score is possible. Reminds me of all the older seniors who, like OMP just punt it down the middle all the time and post brilliant scores, time and time again. Stress free golf is the way to go. Shotscope I want your watch. Liam I want your Shotscope.
Love this video Liam. We all rush to try and play "pretty" golf the whole time as we think that's the way it should be played. Too often we lose sight of the aim of golf is to shoot the lowest score possible, and it actually doesn't matter how you do it as there are no pictures on the scorecard. Great lesson to be learned here as I am sure there are loads of golfmates watching this that struggle to break 90, but if they follow these tips will actually find it easier than they thought. Got to take the risk out of play, and try and remember we are not pro golfers!
This video has changed my game!! I shot a 46 today over nine holes something I could have only dreamed of at the start of the season! Hopefully I can apply this over 18 next weekend. Great video keep up the great work
Absolutely brilliant video Liam like in the beginning some of the best videos when you’re alone stop I’m in my late 60s now and I’ve lost many metres of distance so I’m looking forward to taking some of your suggestions and putting them in my game. Stop. PS I don’t need your shot scope. I’ve already got one.
A Brilliant Demo of how the game of Golf should be played i will try it myself tomorrow i have said to my playing partner many times but if i could shoot one over on every hole i would be a happy pensioner. THANKS LIAM ❤
Liam, I want your shotscope. I am really enjoying your 'relaxed' golf. It is definitely when you play the best shots. I suspect I am talking to myself as well... and probably most amateur golfers .... oh, and Cameron Young. Thanks Liam.
Liam, I want your Shotscope. Very informative video, just goes to show that the less clubs you carry in the bag the better the thinking (not over-thinking). Keep up the good work
Love this content as golf sidekick would say waddaplyaaaa I just started playing golf last year and break 100 most rounds due to this way of playing the game. Great video keep them coming
Liam I want your shotscope. As a relatively new high handicap golfer I loved this video. Lots of food for thought! The only thing missing was the scoopy whoopy! 😂Thanks Liam!
Liam, I want your shotscope, great video, as a ancient high handicapper, I can relate to all you say, too often trying to hit" the shot". Great work Liam, best video I've watched this year
As mentioned by others, this is by far your best video this year. Great lesson for us high handicappers who are mainly forgotten.
"that is a good shot, cos it went forward" Sums up my hopes and dreams when playing golf perfectly. Love it.
When I was younger, single handicap, I used to get angry at every bad shot. These days I am playing off 15, I am not trying to improve. I accept the bad days and you enjoy the good days. Most of all I enjoy the golf with a good group of friends. It's supposed to be fun!

That was cool, makes me think about the next time I play, thank you that was fun ti watch.
I hit 89 this week not using fairway woods and keeping it simple. I'm 25 handicap so anyone can do it
True
@@GolfMatesLiam I want your shotscope😊
Liam I want your shot scope. Cheers
The key though is doing it week / round in, week / round out. Consistency is everything
If this was a series, I'd watch every video twice. So useful.
As a 70 year old with only 2 years golfing under my belt, what an inciteful video. Brings course management to the front instead of just trying to batter the ball down the fairway. Liam, I want your Shotscope.

Real golf and shows what you can do .The only thing that you do that many won't do as high handicappers , is strike it good even if off line. . But great video . Well Done 👍

A brilliant, brilliant video Liam. So educational for me. Thanks for doing that. And I'd love your Shotscope please.
Great video! Just shows the importance of chipping and putting versus smashing BIG DRIVES. probably one of the most informative videos on the Tube!
Liam I want your Shot Scope,Great Video for us high handicappers
Liam I want your shotscope ,Absolutely brilliant video , I'm going hybrid or long iron off the tee as an experiment 👍⛳️

I’m gonna try this on Monday. Brilliant video, probably the best this year👍👍👍
Liam, this video was an eye opener and learned how to break 90. I can't wait to apply it on my next round. From the U.S.
The shotscape would be nice, but the video is one of the most useful for my 25 handicap. Can I do it though?
Liam, I love this Video. Being a 22 Handicap, I always try and look for easier ways to play. I played the other day at my local course and shot 92. Well happy with this. Might be able to to take a few more fivers on the near future! :) keep going Golf Mates!

Liam .. I want your shot scope .. great vid too 👍🏻👍🏻
I want your shot scope - great display of working around a golf course
Thanks Liam, not reached 90 yet mostly due to keep messing g up with the driver. This has taught me loads and has taken the pressure off!!
Absolutely brilliant learning video Liam. A must watch for all golfers.
Glad you enjoyed it
Liam I want your shot scope . Defo course management helps alot .
Liam I Want your shot scope watch. Another Great Viedo. Back to basics
Liam, I want your shotscope. Great video mate, really educational
Great round playing with just the irons, will definitely give it a go
A Brilliant Demo of how the game of Golf should be played i will try it myself tomorrow i have said to my playing partner many times but if i could shoot one over on every hole i would be a happy pensioner. THANKS LIAM ❤
Great video Liam, some useful tips for golfers of all levels there, also a great advert for Chorlton looks lovely! Well done that man!
Liam, I want your shotscope. I am really enjoying your 'relaxed' golf. It is definitely when you play the best shots. I suspect I am talking to myself as well... and probably most amateur golfers .... oh, and Cameron Young. Thanks Liam.
Cheers steven
