This is a wonderful side dish to your book, which I cannot stop reading daily. I’ve blocked out everyone else on YT and only work on your teachings. Thanks again for everything, Dan!!
I love that it switched from Option A (high handicap) and Option B (low handicap) to Option A (safer option) and Option B (more risky) about halfway through the video. I think lower handicaps should really think about utilizing safer option in a lot of situations and don't need to technically go with the Option B shot just because they are a better player. As you can see, Dan is one of the best short gamers around, and even Option A produced a better result in certain scenarios. I think that's a really good point to take out of this lesson.
I was also going to say something similar. When both going for the pin, Option A so often out performed option B, a lot more than the other way around (except when option A was not playing to the pin obvs). I am a 9, so on the worse end of "good", and changed to the 'option A' route more often, and have far better results. Even though I can play the option B shots, and used to do so a lot. In fact a lot of those shots, my Option A would even be a putt. if I can have at worst a 30% chance of sinking the putt, so within say 8 feet, I am happy, and a putter can get you there in many situations.
I’m reading the book often and learning the techniques, but these video clips enforce the process and it’s like having you there with me, thank you for your time 🏌️♂️
Excellent instruction. Often difficult to work out options, and then I too often select the wrong one. This video will make me think “what are the options”, and select the most productive one.
Golf IQ or course management is so important !!! Never miss a video. One of the few RUclipsrs that you always get great tips. His book is always with me
Keep coming back to this one as I work on the 3 releases. Some really safe options here and it’s good to see them being used to ensure the lowest score possible each time. Save the fancy stuff until it’s really required. Definitely helpful to build a good golf IQ using this approach. Thx Dan 👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome video Dan, really eye opening. Watching someone who is technically very proficient at playing the higher level shots and still getting closer to the pin with the safer shot option wasn't something I was expecting to see. Really appreciate you keeping the authenticity in your videos and not just hitting a bunch of shots and cherry picking your best. It really hammers home how often us higher handicap players probably make the wrong decisions when it comes to the short game 👍
I’ve only just discovered Dan. What fantastic training videos. I’ve honestly never found anything as simple to understand as these, and they are absolutely what I need. Thanks Dan Fantastic work
Primary takeaway - high lofted shots are rarely the answer if all you care about is outcome :) For shot 7 - I was surprised you didn't do a putt chip there. A gentle 8 iron toe down that carries the fringe and releases down would be my approach. Release 1 has revolutionized my game, now I need to grind on Release 2 and my pitching game from 80yds and in (your last video was very helpful for that). Truly an amazing complement to the book, and so very helpful!
Still learning the 3 releases and such but I’m just the 2 months I’ve been heavily HEAVILY working on my short game especially around the green. Well my last 2 rounds of golf I holed my first chip in from a major slope about 60ft back on hole 8, then when I played 18 I actually almost holed out 17&18. Best videos I’ve watched
Your descriptions of the process and 3 release methodology really brings it all together for me. I’m still in the process of mastering release one and after sticking to it through some natural bungles (I was a pretty good chipper) I’ve come through the other side and I’m starting to establish flight and roll consistency whereby I can now visualize the flight and landing spots and I’m really seeing results. I love the A/B of this video and demonstration of the variety of clubs and strikes to address conditions we typically encounter. All I can say is that when the rest of my game; which kind of sucks at times, isn’t there my short game and putting keeps me in it and gives me some “street cred”. Great vid and I’m a devoted acolyte. ❤❤😊
Great dedication to teaching course management over tour level trick shots! At one point I thought Dan was going to throw the wedges out and pull out a chipper! 😂
Thank you Professor Grieve. Been working on R1 & R2 recently, having never practiced chipping before! Some green shoots on the course but plenty of work to do.
Thanks Dan. I was a terrible chipper and your book & videos has helped me improve my technique but this content is great for me when I’m on the course, knowing what to do in these situations. Happy to see more of this 😊
Stumbled upon Dan about 6/7 weeks ago. Watched a few vids and then purchased book and started trying to hit release 1, 2, 3 shots. Use 2 or 3 different clubs with each. Especially agree with 50% technique and 50 % mental breakdown. I believe I’m choosing more appropriate shots now that I have options. In past couple weeks my game around the green has gotten better and in some cases much better. Have saved par or bogey a number of times. Thanks Dan!
absolutely fantastic video I am a 20 handicapper and I drop many shots unnecessarily around the green. I will use this video and try and embedded the thinking behind it. awesome 👌 👏 👍🏽
thanks Dan. Your techniques around greens & bunkers are very helpful indeed. Very easy to practice & make me think more about the approaching shots & select better clubs to be used to better score.
Bought your book. My short game is fairly good. Better than my more experienced friends. This book has been a good investment, as your method has given me more options. Thank you for your contribution to the game
Shot 5, if we're talking safe options.. I have a Cleveland chipper for that stuff, works lovely. Brilliant execution though with that putter stroke Dan! Your short game system is great.
Absolutely class. Wonderful insight into the mental approach. As a high handicapper i have to thank you for these invaluable thoughts and instruction. Faced exactly that today on the course. Chose high tarrif over a bunker onto a sloping green and lost it of the back, where i should played to the right through gap between bunkers with loads of green , 2 putts and onto the next instead of a further chip and 2 putts. 🤣
Thanks Dan, your tips have transformed my short game immensely. Your system has given me alot more confidence around the green. I tell all my buddies about you.
Hi Dan, ive just come across your videos and i have to say you explain things in a super easy fashion. I love your 3 types of which makes sense. Im looking forward to watching an.d learning more
Fantastic insight, just loved the fact that we could compare the different options for each shot. Just shows that keeping golf simple and safe can give you as good or even better results depending on the shot. Thanks for great content Dan.
Really good video Dan. I’m a 7.8 index and have fallen foul to the “use loft every time” attitude in the past. Having played with a few scratch guys and seeing their ability to just do what you need to do to get it closest my eyes have been opened. This video just solidifies that theory that it’s just about shooting the lowest score and hopefully that will take me to the next level of a 5 index or lower.
Yet another great video Dan, thanks. You’re really helping my short game with these videos and I’ve got your book too. I did laugh though - on shot 1 the safe option is to chip away from the pin and “leave yourself about 25 feet away, which you should be able to two putt…” I guess “should” is the key word here 🤣🤣
Hello Dan , it is so much fun to watch you playing all these amazing shots. I will keep your advice in mind and hopefully use the right option the next time. 🙂
Dan this is a great Vid, really compliments your book and other vids. It gives us permission to bleed in technique to our playing rounds as our confidence and skill levels increase. This is one of your most important vids. Thank you
Dan this was awesome It looks like you followed us all on our last round missing greens I like how sensible you are making us all thing. I play with several low handicappers and they use the hybrid bump as you did here
Thanks Dan, this is excellent content and helps in understanding options on stroke and club and position. Looking forward for more great content from you.
Great video Dan. Some sensible options to consider and help in tricky situations. Just joined your Academy so looking forward to sharpening my short game and having more options 👍
It cannot be overstated that Option A, the Safe shot, the high handicap shot, the easier shot to hit, was better and closer to the hole on 8 of these 10 examples. Only twice was it better to go with the more difficult option. That says it all right there.
Great video Dan great to see a video for us high handicappers. Most videos geared for better golfers than me. Next time I play gives me more options that did not know I had
Great advice Dan. I spent 5 hrs up at the practice ground myself yesterday. All these moves have to be practiced. You can't just watch the video and go onto the golf course and pull it off. Our course was extremely busy yesterday with the good weather. Yet l practically had the whole practice area to myself. Nobody wants to practice. But does everybody think Dan got this good without practice. I very much doubt it.
Great and sound advice Dan. Used to try out all sorts of shots when playing my rounds. Kind of like a horse being trained in a race. Not good. Handicap tumbled once I realised that for the most part, practice should be kept on the practice areas.
Great video, love seeing these scenarios and the thought process. Only thing he didn't discuss is when he's opening the face and when he's not? Is there a video where he goes over that? Thanks.
Great video!!! I just discovered you on tik tok the other day. I downloaded ur book last night and am looking forward to reading it. I'm a 12 handicap and chipping is holding me back from breaking 80 on a consistent basis. Hoping this helps. I love my 58 degree but don't always trust it and duff it. Hoping I can get past that!
love your information. could you consider views from face on while hitting, to give a prospective of wrists breaking, etc, from that point? would be nice to have that angle to provide more insight.
I think I need to watch this video before playing every round. Really helpful in understanding the options, and at my high handicap standard, the questions I need to ask myself is, "What is Option A? And why would I not be taking it?"
I would add that this really helps me assess the situation relative to my confidence that day and my skill level before I decide on my approach to a chip. I would never have done that before. I would have used the approach I was trying to learn, get it wrong more often than not, and take a big hit to my confidence which spiraled down the more I tried, not a good idea in a game. I think you also need to check your ego out before you start and forget what you see on the PGA (Lob wedges around the green all the time)
Probably the most useful golf instruction on the interwebz. Probably 50% of the shots I drop around the greens are failures of forethought more than technique.
By far the best short game coach and videos on the entire internet...
These videos are great complementary of the book.
Thank you!
"World Class". I'm still practicing my checklists for all 3 releases when I can. I'm also grateful for these type of videos too. Thanks so much Dan!

I was just about to write the same comment and then i saw you´ve already done it.. totally agree.😂

Do you watch golf sidekick? He is always recommending the toe down shot around the green. I like it!
This is the best video till date for me
Thank You for sharing valuable techniques
Great stuff! I liked the fact that on several occasions the safe shots produced the better end result.
Still learning the 3 releases and such but I’m just the 2 months I’ve been heavily HEAVILY working on my short game especially around the green.

This guy should have 1mil subscribers 👍👍👍
Excellent video as always Dan thank you .
Txs Dan. Please keep videos on how to evaluate which option to go for on different lies, greens, bunkers etc. Brilliant insights.
This is exactly what I needed today. I probably won’t be able to golf for another month. But I enjoyed all of this today 🙏🏾
Love these in depth videos Dan. 👍⛳👏👏👏
Thanks Dan. I was a terrible chipper and your book & videos has helped me improve my technique but this content is great for me when I’m on the course, knowing what to do in these situations. Happy to see more of this 😊
love all the options.thanks for this detail.

Great video. Loved the thought process on each shot and the logic behind the decisions. More like this will be welcome.
This is the best instructions for short game strategies. Thank you Mr Grieve!
thanks Dan. Your techniques around greens & bunkers are very helpful indeed.

Well done Dan. I have your book and this video connects the book with real time golf !
Hi Dan, ive just come across your videos and i have to say you explain things in a super easy fashion. I love your 3 types of which makes sense. Im looking forward to watching an.d learning more
I’m a 3 handicap and am working on the 3 releases but this video is showing me how I really need to use a more conservative route! Awesome video!
Fantastic insight, just loved the fact that we could compare the different options for each shot. Just shows that keeping golf simple and safe can give you as good or even better results depending on the shot. Thanks for great content Dan.
Brilliant video👍🏽. The short game is the artistry of golf in my opinion and learning more options is always a win. Cheers Dan.
Once again a masterclass by Dan just goes to show there's always an easier option if you look closely
Cheers Dan

Best video you've released. Really good insight into each shot with different lies. The hero shots are what most go for. Excellent
Really great content, Dan. Very comprehensive short game video. Thank you very much for putting this together.
Hello Dan , it is so much fun to watch you playing all these amazing shots. I will keep your advice in mind and hopefully use the right option the next time. 🙂
You are doing the Lord’s work my friend. Bravo!
Great series of tips on playing different lies and shots! Thanks Dan!
Dan this is a great Vid, really compliments your book and other vids. It gives us permission to bleed in technique to our playing rounds as our confidence and skill levels increase. This is one of your most important vids. Thank you

This was excellent. Just what I needed. More please.
Dan is the short game guru! The best! Love it!
Thanks Dan, this is excellent content and helps in understanding options on stroke and club and position. Looking forward for more great content from you.
Great video Dan. Some sensible options to consider and help in tricky situations. Just joined your Academy so looking forward to sharpening my short game and having more options 👍
Another top video. All your golf tips have help me out big time since I started last year. Keep them coming 👍🏻🏌️⛳️
These videos are so good! Thank you so much. Everyone should get your book then come here, they marry up perfectly. Slowly increasing my chipping IQ

Great stuff love the short game -getting your book soon !!
Brilliant video as as usual. I would love to see the impacts from the front which is great to see how you release the club for each shot.
Other videos cover that….
Great video Dan great to see a video for us high handicappers. Most videos geared for better golfers than me. Next time I play gives me more options that did not know I had
That’s some top class coaching, thanks for that, Dan!
Great Coach of the Year so far
This is an awesome video. Very helpful. Great complement to your book and a wonderful reinforcement. Thanks!
Definitely watching this before every round! Thanks Dan amazing
This video was brilliant, a great insight to shots available to me, I'm playing off a 19handicap.
Bedankt
The book is awesome Dan and these YT vids help to reinforce the teaching in the book
Great video, love the way you show the different ways depending on skill level really helpful
Love the fact he is distinguishing between the relative skills of the players.
Hi Dan, new subscriber here. Just bought your book "3 releases" and your videos are excellent. Thanks so much for creating this content. Cheers, Sid.

Dan. thank you thank you thank you! i have totally switched focus from long to short game because of you
always enjoy watching this coach's teaching.
Excellent video. Thank you. 3 releases book was excellent as well!
This is absolute gold Dan. Cheers.
Great and sound advice Dan. Used to try out all sorts of shots when playing my rounds. Kind of like a horse being trained in a race. Not good. Handicap tumbled once I realised that for the most part, practice should be kept on the practice areas.

Very very helpful to put your book into practical situations. Thank you
Love your stuff Dan. Been reading the book. Incredible content.

Brilliant, where was this when I was a junior golfer 😢
This is gold. My conclusion is that maybe except for a pro, option A is always better from a risk reward standpoint.
love your information. could you consider views from face on while hitting, to give a prospective of wrists breaking, etc, from that point? would be nice to have that angle to provide more insight.
Great video. Really good usable advice! Will be trying some of these in my next round
I think I need to watch this video before playing every round. Really helpful in understanding the options, and at my high handicap standard, the questions I need to ask myself is, "What is Option A? And why would I not be taking it?"
Best video I've seen on short game 👏👏👏👏
Fantastic..Great visual video
Grateful for your thoughtful and helpful content Dan.
Great adjunct to your amazing book …..
great fun Dan. your presentation style tenor is the best! congrats

I watch this a few times a week 👍👍
This was a fantastic set! Really helpful!
Can you tell us what club you used for the advanced shot on your first two situations?
Probably my 56 👍
Wow! Dan and Rick releasing videos on the same day. What have we done to deserve this?
Rick Shiels? Behave
@@td4493😂
🙏 Dan, this will save me a lot of strokes!!
Probably the most useful golf instruction on the interwebz. Probably 50% of the shots I drop around the greens are failures of forethought more than technique.
I needed this tutorial, thanks Dan
