I ALMOST started crying. The only reason to why I DIDN'T is because I got too happy watching this. My hands work fine since I can actually move them. About eight years ago I accidentally injured myself in the most chidlish way and because of that, I ended up with a neurological injury that we later found out is actually a sickness passed down my family. This makes me unable to move correctly, especially my right side, and I am in constant pain. And since I am only 17 years old, it feels... weird, because I am not supposed to be like this. I can't write by hand, I can't play my instruments anymore and I can't draw any longer. Nor can I train like I used too and it's making me feel awful. But this video. This single video, that might not mean much to other people, meant so much for me. Seeing you, you who are unable to even open your hands, do this incredibly beautiful creation on your face made me hopeful. Your determination and positive thinking really rubbed off on me during these few minutes and I am so happy that I saw it. So thank you for making this. Thank you for helping me realize that everything isn't over just because you can't do stuff the way you used to.
I read ur comment and I realized how similar we arw in facing challenges at such a young age. I'm 20, but unlike u I can move fine. I'm perfectly healthy, the only thing is I have vertigo. I have positional vertigo. Vertigo is when your constantly dizzy 24/7 of your life. Sad thing is, there's no cure for it, so u have to learn and live with it. Even medications wouldn't be much of a use when it comes to easing ur sufferring. I know i'm not in pain, but this vertigo is also a debilitating illness. Because of this, i had to quit my job and had to drop from college because just walking a block with out going zigzaging like a drunk person is hard enough already for me. So now i've been stuck at home doing nothing. I constantly lie in bed all day because my head feels like its spinning slowly when actually im not moving my head at all. Like u, i often ask why me? And im still in the process of taking over my life again, one little step at a time. Hang in there girl!

+Linnea Nilsson Yes. It's not visible and its something no one understands unless they have it too. I look healthy and just like any other ppl my age. That's why when I tell them I feel dizzy, they often take me lightly and say I might just be making excuses or that im just making it up in my head, and worst is that im insane! No one understands my pain and that itself is a torture. It's horrible when ppl are so unkind to someone who's been through so much.

3 months ago I fell 3 stories from a zipline when the rope snapped. I haven't been able to do any sports ever since. I am so lucky that I am not paralyzed but I did suffer from 8 broken vertebraes. At night I still wake up screaming my head off claiming I am falling. And I'm just 11 years old. I know that so many people have had it wors than me, but while I was alone. In the hospital I had time to think. And finally I decided that I was worth it. So now I go on a walk every day to maintane my physical health. I have even begun to swim!! I had to wear a brace for a long time and I got it off last month. I am getting good grades AN have a lot of friends. And even though I really miss my sports. I dont complain because I will get them back soon while some people won't be able too. Thank you
Sweetie i cant stop crying , I'm a doctor and lost a lot of the movement of my right hand 2 years ago, and in makeup I found joy and motivation, soon I'm going back to work as a doctor and I can be more happy, just one surgery more!!! I found you through the MTV article and I felt so inspired watching your video. I have a chronic pain condition and I've been getting a lot more pain recently and it's been making me feel so down. Before I was sick, I was studying full time and volunteering at multiple places. I was very social as well. Now, two years later, I can't work or study or volunteer, I can't drive, my friends can't visit very often, I'm on a lot of medication. I just want my life back. I spend weeks and months bed bound and it's honestly absolutely terrible. I'm just constantly terrified of new symptoms popping up, and I'm so full of anxiety. But watching this reminded me that just because I can't do very much, I am alive and I need to try and find things that fill me with joy. Nearly a week ago, I started eating a lot healthier and I've found during the small amount of time that I can stand, I enjoy baking healthy I am now on the hunt for more things to make me happy. Thankyou for this video. 💜
Hi. I too was inspired by this video & by your comment. I'm just wondering if you ever talk to other people with conditions like yours? I have anxiety & sometimes depression & I attend a support group every Monday night. I know that may not be an option if its difficult to get out of bed but have you looked at online groups maybe? I'm not trying to tell you what to do as it's your journey but I'm curious that's all because I know how important social support is

I've actually taken to writing about it, mostly for me but it may help other and I know it would help me to know I'm not alone in the way I think, feel and just coping with pain. I'm by no means as bad as you but I have muscular dystrophy and struggle with things like putting makeup on and my dream was to be a makeup artist, I did one year training and gave up, a year after I first watched this video I've just passed my level three. This video gave me strength, this video made me not give up on my dreams, you changed a life making this video and I owe you the world

i came across this video via facebook and i have to say it brought me to tears... 3yrs ago i found myself in the hospital suffering a broken neck... 3 vertebrae actually... now with my most recent test the doctors have confirmed my worst nightmare... My tests are showing that i have pressure on my spinal cord that is beginning to cause damage to the spinal cord... I need to have surgery but the doctors are hesitate because theres very very little room for error... there is a 50-75% chance i could end up a tetraplegic but if i dont have surgery its nearly 100% chance... but after seeing your video you have given me a new sense of hope and a new sense of life... Thank you so much for sharing your story. Your are a very strong and beautiful woman...

as embarrassing as it is to admit, I was one person who commented on a video of yours (unknowingly of course) & I think my exact words were "have you always held your brushes awkwardly, or am I just now noticing that?" and at the time I hadn't been subbed but for a couple weeks and only saw a couple videos. I truly had no idea that you were in a wheelchair or had been in an accident. I know some people hold their pens differently when they write etc, and I honestly thought maybe you just held your makeup brushes different bc it was more comfortable for you! I think at first i didnt even notice bc i was just watching you do makeup like i do anyone else, and your hands werent even something i focused on.I feel bad. Looking at you from the videos I had seen, I just couldn't see anything "wrong," so it never crossed my mind that you weren't able to open your hands. You are so strong and so Inspiring, and yes, you do your makeup better than me lol. Now I'm having a Jordan Bone marathon 😉

Ellen O it's very hard to walk someone else's shoes, that's.. quite obvious, also is natural to humans to feel pity for someone who we see in an apparently worse condition than that of ourselves'.. :) us disabled being in the lower end of the situation... well sometimes just gets in our nerves.. :) i just.. given up trying to show ppl what im capable of :P ha! xD

+gabrielle gano you seem to be a sweet girl. Don´t worry about high school since you have to go through it no matter what. But be sure to stay strong to yourself, always remember who you are and who you want to be. Your family loves you, talk to them about your distress for certain they will give you good advice. You can do whatever you want to do , sometimes that takes a struggle and you have to fight for it. But as this beautiful empowered young woman says perseverance, positivism and being able to see yourself doing what you love to do, gives you the power and focus to move on and finally achieve your goals. Be water my friend, just don´t get lost on the sea. Always remember to love and put yourself first.

I have a neuromuscular disease, called Spinal Muscular Atrophy. It can be challenging, not being able to cook for yourself, putting on makeup, or even brushing my hair. I try to be as independent as possible, but I still have to rely on my fiance for help, which could be a challenge as well. To overcome my struggles or challenges that I can not control, I just say a prayer. Praying always helps me get through things.

i don't no how I dealt with it but my mum died the day b4 my 5th bday and my nan died the day after my 19th bday now my life is going how i like it, doing well in College suceeding in sports etc, ur story is amazing though and I can't compare to it ! your awesome x

my challenge is my dad. i don't know if you remember him or maybe even me. when i was 2 my dad (neil) had a motorbike accident and became a tetraplegic too. he has told me about you before, saying that you both have the exact same disability also how you were in hospital together. it has lead me here to now be watching your videos. because of my dads everyday struggle, that i witness everyday of my life, i completely understand what your going/have been through! I have a condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and it causes my joints to dislocate on a daily basis and my organs are damaged. It will one day take my life. I have just started having seizures. It's hard for me to do my makeup too but I love it so I do it. You really inspire me. I know it's hard but keep going

I spend weeks and months bed bound and it's honestly absolutely terrible. I'm just constantly terrified of new symptoms popping up, and I'm so full of anxiety.
But watching this reminded me that just because I can't do very much, I am alive and I need to try and find things that fill me with joy. Nearly a week ago, I started eating a lot healthier and I've found during the small amount of time that I can stand, I enjoy baking healthy
I am now on the hunt for more things to make me happy.

I have anxiety & sometimes depression & I attend a support group every Monday night. I know that may not be an option if its difficult to get out of bed but have you looked at online groups maybe? I'm not trying to tell you what to do as it's your journey but I'm curious that's all because I know how important social support is
+Jes Pearl I suffer with chronic pain too, I found reading about other people who suffer helps you though so you know your not going through it alone. I've actually taken to writing about it, mostly for me but it may help other and I know it would help me to know I'm not alone in the way I think, feel and just coping with pain. I'm by no means as bad as you but I have muscular dystrophy and struggle with things like putting makeup on and my dream was to be a makeup artist, I did one year training and gave up, a year after I first watched this video I've just passed my level three. This video gave me strength, this video made me not give up on my dreams, you changed a life making this video and I owe you the world

i came across this video via facebook and i have to say it brought me to tears... 3yrs ago i found myself in the hospital suffering a broken neck... 3 vertebrae actually... now with my most recent test the doctors have confirmed my worst nightmare... My tests are showing that i have pressure on my spinal cord that is beginning to cause damage to the spinal cord... I need to have surgery but the doctors are hesitate because theres very very little room for error... there is a 50-75% chance i could end up a tetraplegic but if i dont have surgery its nearly 100% chance... but after seeing your video you have given me a new sense of hope and a new sense of life... Thank you so much for sharing your story. Your are a very strong and beautiful woman...

as embarrassing as it is to admit, I was one person who commented on a video of yours (unknowingly of course) & I think my exact words were "have you always held your brushes awkwardly, or am I just now noticing that?" and at the time I hadn't been subbed but for a couple weeks and only saw a couple videos. I truly had no idea that you were in a wheelchair or had been in an accident. I know some people hold their pens differently when they write etc, and I honestly thought maybe you just held your makeup brushes different bc it was more comfortable for you! I think at first i didnt even notice bc i was just watching you do makeup like i do anyone else, and your hands werent even something i focused on.I feel bad. Looking at you from the videos I had seen, I just couldn't see anything "wrong," so it never crossed my mind that you weren't able to open your hands. You are so strong and so Inspiring, and yes, you do your makeup better than me lol. Now I'm having a Jordan Bone marathon 😉

Ellen O it's very hard to walk someone else's shoes, that's.. quite obvious, also is natural to humans to feel pity for someone who we see in an apparently worse condition than that of ourselves'.. :) us disabled being in the lower end of the situation... well sometimes just gets in our nerves.. :) i just.. given up trying to show ppl what im capable of :P ha! xD

Most of them just act like they are perfect and do nothing wrong (I will admit I do it often) so I think just admitting you made a mistake was amazing

+gabrielle gano you seem to be a sweet girl. Don´t worry about high school since you have to go through it no matter what. But be sure to stay strong to yourself, always remember who you are and who you want to be. Your family loves you, talk to them about your distress for certain they will give you good advice. You can do whatever you want to do , sometimes that takes a struggle and you have to fight for it. But as this beautiful empowered young woman says perseverance, positivism and being able to see yourself doing what you love to do, gives you the power and focus to move on and finally achieve your goals. Be water my friend, just don´t get lost on the sea. Always remember to love and put yourself first.

You're truly admirable! I have a question, I hope you don't mind answering: you said at the beggining you became a tetraplegic but, still, you're able to move your arms, chest... I'm assuming that's because of therapy, right? How long did it take for you to gain back those movements and do you still do therapy nowadays? thank you.

I have a neuromuscular disease, called Spinal Muscular Atrophy. It can be challenging, not being able to cook for yourself, putting on makeup, or even brushing my hair. I try to be as independent as possible, but I still have to rely on my fiance for help, which could be a challenge as well. To overcome my struggles or challenges that I can not control, I just say a prayer. Praying always helps me get through things.

my challenge is my dad. i don't know if you remember him or maybe even me. when i was 2 my dad (neil) had a motorbike accident and became a tetraplegic too. he has told me about you before, saying that you both have the exact same disability also how you were in hospital together. it has lead me here to now be watching your videos. because of my dads everyday struggle, that i witness everyday of my life, i completely understand what your going/have been through! I'm not sure if you will see this but if you do me and my dad would love to hear from you. as you have inspired both of us! keep doing what your doing love henni xxxx
I have a condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and it causes my joints to dislocate on a daily basis and my organs are damaged. It will one day take my life. I have just started having seizures. It's hard for me to do my makeup too but I love it so I do it. You really inspire me. I know it's hard but keep going
