We just got 2 500s for our new bikes! Loving them.
Great feedback - My 500 is a dirt bike/adventure setup loaded with protection. Still have to get some type of windscreen fairing setup, though.
Thanks Keith great vid, I just got a ktm 500 after riding a DRZ400 as a lightweight ADV bike. Loving the extra power and looking forward to using some of your ideas to set my bike up.

I’m in the US running the stock Continental TKC 80.
Another question, what do you think of the WR250R, it seems much more popular compared to both 350/500EXC-Fs when it comes to adventure riding, especially if we overlook the motor capacity. Thanks
I owned the WR250R prior to this bike. It is tremendously capable, engine service interval is long, valve check interval ridiculously long, the bike is cheap, light, there are plenty of accessories, it can carry a heap of gear. It really is a great ADV bike. But, then I had a ride of a mate's 500, and you just can't overlook the engine capacity... ;-) The 500 engine is AMAZING.
@@keithjob Thanks for your reply. So if you had to choose between the WRR and 350EXC-F (not the 500), what would you choose? silly question i know, but i will ask anyway :-) would you say that the WRR performance on motorway is better than the EXC-f range which is more off roady? cheers
@@y.e.2103 I once rode the Oodnadatta track with a bloke on a 350EXC. (I was on a DR650) That's about 800km of gravel road. The 350 did fine, or so he said ;-) To your question.... right now, knowing nothing about the 350, I'd pick the WRR, mainly because I know it.

hello,i've had a 450 exc 2017 and i send it because the vibrations in the feets and and the hands was very unplaisant,what do you think about the vibration of this bike?
see you don't reply much to comments here.. but I'm coming home and the RTA wont accept my drivers licence to transfer been riding bigger bikes here in Europe, but it seems that i might have to go to a p1 licence there for 12 months , you think this is a bike for that?? as i was looking at a 650 KTM but that's not allowed due to restriction's there this sux big time but what ells if anything would be a good choice as i want to do off road as well as commute ??=?
Not sure what state, or country, you are talking about. You'll have to find out the restrictions that apply to the P1 licence in your state. I can tell you the 500EXC is on the LAMS list in Victoria, meaning a Learner can legally ride it on the road. Would I commute on the 500? Nup. Get a cheap roadie for that and keep the 500 for the bush.
Just put a deposit on a 2020 500exc and looking at what must haves I need. One is the Zipty fuel filter. Where did you pick that up . Oz or U.S

Highway Dirt Bikes. Absolutely love them.
What gearing front/back do you use?
Back in those times it was 14/50. Nowadays 14/48. Swap to 13 if it's a slow/technical ride.

What about the height?
It is a tall bike, but not excessively for me at 5' 11". You can get a lower seat too - it's about 20mm lower I think.

Hi mate.. wat made u go with the 500 instead of the 690.. weight? Cheers
weight...an extra 30kg or so for the 690. And physical size. The 690 is quite long, in my opinion. 500 better suited to tighter tracks.
