Great !!! Absolutely great !!! Now, I can start re-learning the style. Too bad there are no such clubs around here. With a teacher everything would go easier and faster...
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I coach competitive archery and we share much. I can definitely see your passion (and share) for this wonderful pursuit. I was fascinated.
Salam Alaykum! Thank you so much for your videos. I was recently inspired to learn archery and I find the ottoman style so fascinating. I've seen your shooting and it's crazy to think how incredible the great mounted warrior mameluks and seljuks must have been! Again. Thank you so much!

Salaam u alaikum may Allah bless you for your work at reviving the Islamic martial skills, This is not only important for those who would call themselves turkish as these skills were used my many in the ummah May Allah return our khilafa and destroy forever the evil of nationalism and secularism Ameen Ameen Ameen ya Rab
Aleykum selam! Good point! However, Islamic archery has been developed thru adopting the skills of Central Asian and Circassian Turks (Kumans and Kiptschaks) who had been employed as mercenaries in the Islamic armies of Ayyubid and Abbasid Khalifs in 8th-9th centuries. Prophet Mohammed (S.A.V) and sahabe have not shot composite bows and did not know the thumb release until they had frequent interactions with Sassanids and Turks in Maveraü'n-nehr. Allah blessed you too.
This is accepted fact, the arab bows were not near as powerful. I am also interested in other aspects of the Islamic martial systems of coarse all are interconnected. I understand that training started with riding, archery and wrestling as these are the basic skills which everything else was added.
That's right! And the religious aspects have always been important in Ottoman era. Especially tasavvuf, the Turkic interpretation of futuvvet, played serious role in the esoteric part of the culture. Despite the different cultural roots Ottoman archers adopted Ebu Vakkas, close friend of the Prophet and a fine archer, as their legendary master. Arabs' early bows were all-wooden bows. One of the pieces in the Sacred Treasury saved in Topkapi Palace Museuum is the bow of the Prophet. This bow seems to be an all-bamboo bow.
abdulkabza I've read in a book that the great ottoman archers would have an annual competition where thousands would come to watch who could shoot the farthest and most accurate. The winning arrows would be left where they where shot. Many centuries later, the newer solider would be continually stunned at the strength and skill of their ancestors because they could never match their skill (b/c the previous winning arrows where still in the field and they could see them). Gives me goosebumps! Bless you brother for your brilliant work!

Bunu cevaplayabilirseniz sevinirim.
