Thank you thank you for making this detailed video. I know the actual affected # of batteries are small, but this recall needs to find the bad ones. It is beyond egregious to hear there are certain dealers fudging the recall. That’s insanely dangerous especially if owners out there have 4xes in the same garage as another EVs. Jeep should document and hold accountable the dealers fudging the recall. Thanks also to Ray CDJR for your openness in this stressful time for owners.
and maybe for those who question it, this also gives a better understanding of the lengths Jeep and [most of] their dealer network go to toward insuring any potential issues (particularly safety) get corrected.
Thanks to both of you for a very informative video! I'll vote for Mr. Morgan to fill some of the empty executive positions at Stellantis. He is truly customer focused.
@@JeepsOnTheRun I went by my dealership today to ask a few questions for my upcoming Monday appointment - ie. Do I need to have it charged when I get there? I was able to talk with two service people behind the desk. Unfortunately, not the actual technicians. I'll cut right to the chase. They didn't have a clue about this process. They said they do not need to drive it during the process. They also told me that I should bring it in without a charge on it because it would be easier for them to charge it to get it to the required percentage compared to draining it to what is needed. But went on to say that they need to have my battery at 0% then they will charge it to 100%, then drain it and repeat that process a few times. Needless to say, I cancelled that appointment and called another dealership near me. I'm so glad I did! The person I spoke with actually told me what the process was, WITHOUT me even asking. He said they've run several through that they've had on the lot and couldn't sell. So they were well versed on the steps. I didn't know how to really know if my dealership was well educated on the 4xe's. I'm so grateful for your videos to help us out with this whole ordeal. Now I know. I highly encourage anyone who doesn't know if their service department is knowledgeable with the 4xe's to swing by and talk with someone in the service department. Ask them some questions you've seen on these videos and see how they respond. Thank you again for all you do for our community!
I just got back from the dealership in Boulder and the Jeep passed. They even gave me a screen shot of the passed screen. They ended up driving 3 miles and using 23% battery. Thanks again for all the help and information. BTW - I DID end up leaving the driving page open on the passenger seat when I dropped off the Jeep.
@@JeepsOnTheRun I got my wrangler 4xe back the next day. They did the test and gave me proof on paper printout. My jeep passed the 95b-96b driving cycle recall test. I know the chief mecanic and he explained he drove off to the first speed indication and after 5 seconds the computer told him the test was completed and he could return to the dealership. So I guess not all the tests require the exact same procedure and the computer determines what is needed.
Hi, I’m outside USA. Is there a way I can do the procedure myself? My biggest obstacle I believe is the dealers user to use wiTech and the wiTech MDP. Any advice?
Curious if they mentioned how many miles driven during drive cycle? About to pick mine up at dealership. I set the trip B to zero when I parked it there two days ago
So, we're seeing a lot of variations in the numbers of miles needed. I'd focus more on the screen shot showing you the drive cycle was complete than I would miles driven. Unless it's zero of corse.
Does this procedure fix the root cause of the battery fire hazards, previously happened? What's the logic behind this to discover the issues with cell separator? Thanks.
fantastic information for those of us who want to know! Follow up question: Is the diagnostic remote through a cloud based fault diagnosis? What battery parameters are tested? temp/voltage/resistance? Are they tested at battery module or battery cell level?
I'll dig into this. I'm not sure we'll really know 100%, but we do have a nice relationship with engineering so we might be able to get some more info on this.
Just had mine done. Had to wait a couple of hours because the battery was too cold. Then could not proceed because the Jeep was in fuel/oil refresh mode. Had to drive around until the fuel/oil refresh cleared. Completed the test and the battery passed.
Is this the same procedure that will be used for a 2022 Grand Cherokee 4Xe? How come I have not received word of this yet? I got the original recall announcement but I haven't heard about the fix yet? Let me know? Thanks
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: If you're staying at the dealer for the service, show up with at least 75% charge or you'll have to wait for them to charge your jeep. And with the recall going on, you can count on those chargers being busy when you get there.
I think the "Right" answer for me to say would be .. No, let the dealer charge it. This way if something were to fail it's on them. That's your call, but I'd suggest the above.
I had mine completed yesterday. Just a quick note, attached to my copies of the paperwork is an FCA US LLC Vehicle Emission Recall - Proof of Correction card. It was signed by the tech with the completion date and stamped with the address of the dealer. The bottom of the card says Return This Certificate To DMV Only When Required Otherwise Retain For Your Records.
@ Yes could be. I’ve had recalls on other cars performed but this is my first time seeing this. It does give me piece of mind that the work was properly completed.
Should I charge the battery before bring it in for my appointment (just thought of this) but I cant ask my dealer as they are closed and don’t open till my scheduled appointment
Just got mine done today but on my mopar page it still saying the recall is incomplete? Im not sure if the mopar page updates automatically after the 95b recall is complete or have to wait a few days for it to state Complete? Anyone have insight on this?
So what exactly is the issue to warrant this recall? I have a 24 RubiconX 4xe and when I saw all the posts about a recall I called my dealer. They said mine was built after the cutoff date and is not part of the recall.
This video is mostly real time. Short of about 10 minutes of loading softward and the 75% charge. I'm all reality, after a charge I'd say 2 hours most.. But will depend on what modules need Update.
Drop it off at the dealer all day they said they did it and it pass asked for a picture on picture and the jeep had the same miles on it as I dropped it off
@ I might be wrong but I believe the biggest reliability problems are dealers especially with all the FCA products I have owned. My own experience is they throw parts at it until they fix it. I have tried different dealers so it seems more prevalent than it should be. Maybe FCA is somewhat culpable. The Jeep forums are full of people who would rather repair at their own expense than risk having a dealership molest their vehicles.

Absolutely agreed. I am not sure how / why some dealers are just ignoring simple step by step directions.

Potential battery defects on 21-23 models. Lithium battery fire risk.

I wish you were close enough to me in Maryland. The dealers around here don’t want to do the full test.
How do you know they're not doing the full test? I'm in Maryland, but just dropped mine off at Koons Tysons this morning.

This fix is only for Wranglers correct? Has anyone heard when they will address Grand Cherokees?
Correct. Grand Cherokee is due out 1st part of the new year.
Drop it off at the dealer all day they said they did it and it pass asked for a picture on picture and the jeep had the same miles on it as I dropped it off
No picture
If it has the same miles in it... 100% not done proper.
I talked to dealer I am doing a ride along Friday for them to redo it
So did the ride along today and I does take a good amount of driving to complete but at the end it passed
@@JohnHardy-l6w great news, thanks for upadating us!

Well, if they do the job right, they can't really skip it. I'd ask for the screenshot like we talked about in video.
Seems if it's not done properly Jeep will know, since it's online while the test is being done, I'm not worried.
