One time a long time ago, my wife and i had a wild hair to live in AZ. She was a horse trainer and I wasn't. We had an F450 with a steel flatbed. While we were haulin the horses down from KY to AZ. we lost an inside dually tire. I was so hungry to explore after getting the horses settled in that I decided replacing the tire could wait. Thanks for the lesson on stacking rocks. That's something I try to avoid doing out in the rough stuff, but I understand when it's needed and how it can keep you from getting high centered if you do it before you get to the obstacle.
I've fixed a tire with duct tape before. Tractor tire. Knocked it off the bead so I could put a piece of duct tape on the inside. Worked like a charm. I've also repaired a torn sidewall by using 1/4-20 carriage bolts to bolt a piece of galvanized sheet metal on the inside and outside , and sealing it with Silicone caulk. I have also pulled a tire back onto the bead with sheet rock screws. Old racing trick. Drill holes through the bead of the rim, and put screws through. That was how they used to deal with the rim spinning inside the tire before there was such a thing as beadlock rims. None of those are permanent fixes, but when you have an $1800 tire that won't hold air, and you have to order a new one and wait for delivery, you do what you need to so you can get back to work. Also, I recommend keeping an inner tube that is about the right size for the tire in your rig, as well as some bailing wire, a cordless drill, and a bit. Tear a sidewall, and you can drill a bunch of holes around the tear, and basically sew the side wall back together with the wire. (twist the ends together on the outside, keep the holes a couple of inches from the tear, spread them out and do a couple of rows, and when you think you have enough stitches, keep going, because you can't overdo it.) Knock the valve out, put the tube in, reinflate, and go. Won't last forever, and it isn't safe for highway speeds because the tire will be grossly out of balance. It can get you off a trail, and to a tire shop. If not, you're still stuck with a torn sidewall, which you had anyway.
Long drive for the recovery, tedious getting things turned around & through the rough spots, efficiency in the process though & finally effective in getting the vehicle out & to its destiny - and even putting on a valve damaged tire. The video was well done & showed the beauty of the country and terrain. Thanks for sharing it with us.

It is a shame that by the time you could afford to fix up his Suzuki and the Rokon, Ed got too old to really be able to enjoy them. At least he is in a home and being taken care of. You are a damn fine young man Matt.
I think half the enjoyment for Ed is the satisfaction of seeing the projects finished. The Suzuki is an awesome little truck, and it'd be super handy as a little scout truck for the business. That sorta thing would tickle me pink. Having mates care so much they'd do all that for ya?
@@vinniedennywini8126 he was in a neck brace not too long ago so I'm sure he's still slightly recovering from that. Plus he's no spring chicken those rough trails are hard on the body
Hardest working and most functional machines in the Off-Road recovery business. I respect Matt for always trying to minimize additional damage to his clients stranded vehicles. Most wrecker companies could care less if they cause extra damage.
I have changed my mind on these gladiators. I have an 05 rubicon TJ with 33s. I have thought about selling them buying a gladiator but didn’t think they were worth the hype. You guys have proved me wrong. Didn’t think the stock gladiator could handle that trail. Great job guys.
For those who haven't done much of this, the hardest obstacles rely way more on spotter skill than driver skill. Only the spotter can see all the terrain details that dictate the required line. All the driver has to do is do what he's told.
Matts best LOST Gold Mine recovery ever. Great content as usual, great scenery. The problem solving skills of Matt are invaluable, he would have been the best Gold Mine road builder of 1858. The things Matt knows by instinct are written in No Book -- anywheres. The Banana lives up to the legend every time, and as always "They get em out".
The first adit they went in was a prospect. They were trying to get under the oxidized zone at the surface to see if the ore was rich enough to pay for mining it. Looks like the ore "didn't pan out," so they didn't mine it. They did some mining in the second adit. That hole with the timbering in it is where they took out the ore. I think that's called a stope. The ore they were going after looks like limonite. That's a sulfide iron ore that can contain gold. Sulfide ores require smelting. You're better off looking for ores that contain "free mill gold". That way all you have to do is crush it and sluice it. My rule of thumb is the ore has to contain at least one ounce of gold per ton. Working leaner ores than that could cost you more than you'll get out of it. Good luck!
We saw you guys over at the great west tire shop and tried to catch you guys before you left, wanted to say hello and buy some shirts. I didn’t think you guys went out this far to kingman az. Keep up the awesome recoveries and videos
2:37 reference to the tandem bicycle for a couple had milk coming out my nose from laughing. Know the staging area well, now I'll just have to find the trail the rescue occurred on. Further south are some really nice 4x4 trails that go from the east side of the mountain to the west side. Great content, thanks for sharing.
That person ran that gladiator like it was borrowed and like borrowed money they didnt bring it back. Outside of that you folks work in one heckuva office. Love the recovery videos, seeing the scenery and watching the recovery. Thanks for showing and telling.
I had a 1975 CJ5 and the short wheel base made a huge difference in situations like that. Just makes we wonder why anyone would take that long of a vehicle, especially stock.
I can answer that. My built Gladiator would have done that trail with little difficulty. And I could have taken a lot more creature comforts with me. But I agree a stock rig has no business on that trail. 37s and a lift are required for those trails in that rig.
Jeep markets their products in a manner that encourages such behaviors. But honestly, good for that owner for using his or her jeep for actual off-roading. A friend of mine has a bronco that has barely seen a gravel road…
That was the first thing I thought when they released the Gladiator, just way too big of a wheelbase. Really handicaps the vehicle on trails like this.
I am seven minutes into this video and I am jealous. So far it looks like a great trip. I would have taken the Morrvair as well. We shall see what happens. I just finished and that was an amazing recovery. It is not as involved at the Espanola NM recovery but it was a beautiful setting. Kaulin and Colby did great following the guidance of the master Matt.
The lesson here is to own a recovery company in the right area $$$. As long as there are people that want to push their vehicles for fun and they have endless money -well, enough said.
And getting that Gladiator outta that draw, separates the experience from the amateurs. And is the reason you get the call, and are paid the big bucks 😊
and some with even more experience would not have bothered driving the Banana up on top just to winch it backwards, or maybe he does not know that Yankum sells recovery rings.
@@iffykidmn8170 maybe experience just wanted to do the least amount of damage to the recovered vehicle also. In this case I agree with experiences decision. Made for a good video too.
I haven't got to that bit yet, but I have been wondering why they didn't take the Wrecker? Something to do with it being prepared for the ORGames perhaps?
It might be a clear day, but Lighting can still come out on anywhere at any time to get you Matt "I for one Always fuel up before a job?" "And I never run out." Hmmm. Most gnarly jobs? Where's The WLOR Wrecker? Hopefully the owner heard you about larger tires and maybe some upgrades too since stock is not really a good 4x4 vehicle except for gravel roads. The Jeeping World is definitely a different world, and it is Awesome. Always go last into an unknown mine, that way you can run out if something goes wrong, nobody to trip over. Challenging recovery but fun to watch. Duct Tape a 4-Wheerers essential item.
I always scratch my head what people are thinking when the do these crazy adventures. I have a 89 Jeep Wrangler from Moab and a 2021 4Runner TRD Pro. I enjoy off road not destroying my wheelers
I was wondering that. I have a pristine JKRR and would never do those trails. I guess a little damage won't lower the resale too much, but I won't bang mine up, nor will I buy a used on that has been.
Still my favorite channel and another great rescue. Everybody on this team is top notch. Kolby always does awesome with the camera and drone footage and he did great driving the Banana. Could tell he was having fun.
My 'me time' today was spent watching this video. I can't imagine a better way to have spent it. Great video, wonderful scenery, very technical recovery, excellent parenting. What more could anyone ask for?
Lived 13 years in AZ, and done lot of wheeling in around Kingman and think we did that exact wash a time or two. Did that area in with our 1996 XJS (2 inch lift, Detroit rear, limited slip front on 33x12.50s) and our stock 1990 Land Cruiser LJ78G Prado Light (32x8.50s and select-able rear/open front), although the LC did have a pretty high off-chamber pucker factor on that loose decomposing granite typical of central and western AZ. I hope the JTR owner was a 4x4 newbie. Where he stopped, could have easily jacked up vehicle, then driven off the jack. Maybe that is how he pretezeled his jack tool. Glad to see Colby did not rock tattoo any doors or 1/4 panels.Matt, also be wary of those mine tunnels. Someone mentioned snakes, but we did a lot of mine investigating in western AZ (wife wrote for AZ Highway magazine). We ran across many that still had explosives (dynamite or even older nitro) stashed in them (miner stocked the mine, but never came back). Be very wary of any mine that was wooden boardwalks in them. Under the boardwalk is where a lot of stuff got stashed, and if a foot goes through....BOOM. Remember, it is always funny until someone gets hurt. Then it is freaking hilarious. Semper Fi.
“don’t know nothing”, great you folks help spread proper English around the globe, lord knows there ain’t none nobody that can’t help with this more than youse!
In all my years of driving on and off road, I've never had a spotter. I don't think I could deal with someone telling driver, passenger, driver... it would drive me nuts. I totally agree with you mentioning that with experience you learn to look ahead at what you're not going to see when on top of it.
I have a 2020 Gladiator. It's not the best jeep I've ever owned, but it's definitely been fun. My windshield lasted less than 1K miles before it was broken. Rock on the freeway headed out wheeling from a friend's jeep
That was fun to watch! Great job getting that Gladiator down the mountain. Surprised someone took a new Gladiator there with no lift or at least 35"...lol
This video had everything I like to see in a MORR video; seeing what you guys eat, hearing Matt talk this that and the other while he was spotting and driving, great Drone footage, comrades and family time! Great wheeling too!
We always fuel up after a job that way it’s ready to go for the next job and don’t have to worrie about stopping and getting fuel keep up the amazing content still need a land anchor ⚓️ 😊
And this video is a perfect example of why there is only one channel like MORR - because of the team. The team exists because of one of thing - Matt! This video could be used for management training. When you run things like Matt does, you end up with an excellent team that is happy on the job.
I've done my share of 4 wheeling in old trucks and Jeeps and I also know this Jeep was made for this type of environment but it's amazing that folks will pay 50k-60k and more for a vehicle and treat it so rough. When Matt was trying to get the tire to stop leaking, I couldn't help but noticed how scratched up the wheels were. My wife would kill me.
I took my kids hiking early in the spring one year. There was still some snow on the ground. We went down a canyon a ways, then went on the same route. We saw that we had left our tracks in the snow and on top of our tracks were cougar tracks. I'm glad I had a pistol. Even though we never saw the cat, but it was comforting to have a big bore revolver in my hand, especially since I had five kids with me ranging from age 3 to 15.
great video, good job colby....but i have to say, it is so humbling that you invite us all in to share in your relationship with your son.....reminds me of my dad.....you're a good man Matt.
The Mines in AZ are really dangers. Its dark..No really dark. You cant see any thing and some mines go straight down with out warning. Dont go in unprepaired ......
You guys should put a camera under the body, behind the front axle with the screen inside the cabin so the driver could see wheel placement (like a rear parking camera). Would make this stuff so much easier.
Until you bash the camera against a rock, or it gets covered in mud... Learning your vehicle is more important, but they do make front trail view cams that will plug right in. Usually mounted on the front grille.
Well....the owner sure got a good lesson on rock climbing with this video! And, saw how careful you are with other people's vehicles! Also, wonderful drone coverage of the trail views on the way in! Great stuff!!!

Note that the screw trick will ruin the rim, but if you're trying to get the tire to seal on a bent rim, it's already ruined.
❤❤❤ it’s your blind friend in Tucson Arizona. I think this is my fourth video for the day because I’m laying in bed with a massive headache and I can sit here and listen to the adventure. If I haven’t told you lately, I love you guys off-road makes everything feel better shalom!!❤❤❤
He's not in a home he lives at the shop in an apartment they attached to it. Idk if he has a nurse or anything but he seems to get around alright.
@@ShineRunnersGarage why doesn’t he join the crews on the rescue trips anymore?
@@vinniedennywini8126 he was in a neck brace not too long ago so I'm sure he's still slightly recovering from that. Plus he's no spring chicken those rough trails are hard on the body
Hardest working and most functional machines in the Off-Road recovery business. I respect Matt for always trying to minimize additional damage to his clients stranded vehicles. Most wrecker companies could care less if they cause extra damage.
Well, don't want to be banging it around when it's on video!
I live in Kingman.. The hualapai mountains are definitely a good place to go 4x4. To bad you guys didn't have a guide, lots of fun spots around
I have changed my mind on these gladiators. I have an 05 rubicon TJ with 33s. I have thought about selling them buying a gladiator but didn’t think they were worth the hype. You guys have proved me wrong. Didn’t think the stock gladiator could handle that trail. Great job guys.
Long wheelbase is the only real problem. Lift and tires would help it out a lot.
If I had a dollar for every new Jeep owner who comes up to me regretting that they sold their TJ…
@@hippiebits2071 too true
I’ll not sell mine.
Kingman man here! This trail is tough.. It has washed out alot in the last 50 years.. Good job guys!
Now this is the MORR of old that I grew watchin back in the day........ lol. Great vid.
Matt's rock stacking abilities are on point
I see what you did there...and I like it. Lol!
For those who haven't done much of this, the hardest obstacles rely way more on spotter skill than driver skill. Only the spotter can see all the terrain details that dictate the required line. All the driver has to do is do what he's told.
Yep. While dragging one elbow on the ground, looking at the sky over the hood. No problem.
Yep, completely agree. In the Off Road Games live chat everyone was like, man would they get a move on! This isn't racing lol
Awesome recovery!
Ed's looking great!
I love how Colin isn't afraid to use the word "pretty!"
I have 100% thought about jumping onto a train and wing it for a week.
Same with just driving in a random direction till you need gas...
I really enjoy when people bang up brand new expensive rigs. Thanks.
yall changed that tire at my exit 3 miles from my house. i'm a BIG fan of your channel. i am planning a trip to hurricun. soon and will stop by.
That’s exactly what I was thinking!
Inexperienced , over confident and excited to be in the great outdoors.
Oh, you missed an opportunity. You could’ve had a clip of Hannibal Smith from the A-Team. I love it when a plan comes together.
The lesson here is to own a recovery company in the right area $$$. As long as there are people that want to push their vehicles for fun and they have endless money -well, enough said.
Get some Colby valves. On the trail easy fix. Replace a valve stem in 2 minutes. They are awesome.
@@iffykidmn8170That requires a solid point to anchor too. Not sure if there was one.
@@iffykidmn8170 maybe experience just wanted to do the least amount of damage to the recovered vehicle also. In this case I agree with experiences decision. Made for a good video too.
Yep and for what that recovery cost you can buy a winch. 😂
Need to carry “Colby valve stems” for quick tire valve stem replacement on the trails 😊
Still my favorite channel and another great rescue. Everybody on this team is top notch. Kolby always does awesome with the camera and drone footage and he did great driving the Banana. Could tell he was having fun.
Still a great channel! But I sure miss Lizzie, Trevor, Rudy (I know he has his own channel), and Tucker! "Ruuuddddy!!!" - Trevor
Especially Trevor and Lizzie, they were 2 gems ❤❤
We need a reunion episode
Tucker and Trevor have a channel now too
There more things change, the more they stay the same.
agree with the exception of Lizzy and the new Dizzy is worse.
Nice one guys. Perhaps you should carry a couple ramps and a Spare tire on the roof.
Now that’s funny!! 🤣🤣🤣
Over on amazon they got some emergency valve stems you install from the outside. No tire removal needed. Maybe toss a few in the glovebox.
Colby is the brand.
Don't think those would work for this one because of the Tire Pressure Monitor System.
Matt, You really put on a good show video all the time, love seeing how you rescued the customers jeep, and even fixed their tire for them.
Perfect example of what a couple inch lift and bigger tires would do for ya!
Those Gladiators impress me every time I see them taken to their limit. That is a seriously gnarly road for a stock vehicle.
Kaukin:”I don’t want to hit that doing 45”.
And the customer thanks you Kaulin.
"Doc Hudson" power slide on the canyon wall.
I like that you keep right except to pass.
As a normal human being does. Only serial killers and incompetents sit in the left lane and make rolling roadblocks for everyone else to suffer.
Having driven through most of the lower 48, I can attest that Utah drivers are quite considerate.
Pretty impressive what a stock gladiator can do in the right hands . The question is how long can it do it for . Great team effort, thanks for sharing
Welcome to Kingman! If I had know you guys were in town, I'd have bought you lunch!
Several thousand of us would of showed up 😊
LOL, I retract the offer!@@lightman489
This was fun to watch.👍
“Is that mountain lion urine we’re smelling?” Famous last words 😂
That was a fun-to-watch rescue! Love the wholesome father-son dynamic with Matt and Kaulin. Great job guys!
The Mines in AZ are really dangers. Its dark..No really dark. You cant see any thing and some mines go straight down with out warning. Dont go in unprepaired ......
Ok...
Also a cool summer retreat for rattlesnakes.
Almost like the mines of Utah where all of them are from.
Thanks coach
But that's what he does; takes unnecessary risks.
That smell in the mines is from packrats. It's the ammonia smell from the animals pee that your noticimg.
I remember the prewinch days
Wise choice to evolve the amazing Banana
Nice of you to come over to Arizona for this recovery…. Next time you’re in town, let us know and we’ll come over for an Auto Graph ❤️
Loved loved loved the games btw thanks. Laura Farms and Rory were awesome. And Legal Eagle totally deserved the W.
Hey 👋 from Upstate New York
The best part of NY
You guys should put a camera under the body, behind the front axle with the screen inside the cabin so the driver could see wheel placement (like a rear parking camera). Would make this stuff so much easier.
Until you bash the camera against a rock, or it gets covered in mud... Learning your vehicle is more important, but they do make front trail view cams that will plug right in. Usually mounted on the front grille.
1:03 Whoever edits this videos just got lazy...
You could've made an entire video (or two 😂) of Matt running out of gas! 🤣
Well....the owner sure got a good lesson on rock climbing with this video! And, saw how careful you are with other people's vehicles! Also, wonderful drone coverage of the trail views on the way in! Great stuff!!!
Matt, long time watcher! What i love most about your videos mate, is your constant positive attitude towards everything !! In a world that is so full of the opposite its super refreshing!! Love your videos!!
