I didn't realize chainsaw bars were made out of hardened steel until I watched a video of a guy making a DIY chainsaw mill and he said the same thing! The NEXT video...was YOURS!! You guys are BANGING the daylights out of it and it took every bit of it!!

I believe this video to be a splicing together of videos from the creations of two very different but similar appearing blades. One built by young craftsmen in the making who are still learning skills and using more stock removal and grinding than actual forging, and one built by a skilled craftsman

Very very very extremely nice blade and can we also take a moment to appreciate not just the amazing blade but also the fact that they're all wearing flops working around hot steel , blistering sparks and sharp items everywhere I don't know exactly where they are but from the looks of it it doesn't look like they have a Walmart or anything around where they can go buy a decent pair of protective work boots or gloves
this os such a good idia , cuase the metal is used to , with stand the wieght of a tree,, good metal for making a sword i love swords maby just some pegs in the handle to keep it from falling off , if your going to use it but of it is for only displaying no need for pegs, will be a buetifull piece , very skillfull craftsman cant wieght to see another vidio love your content ,
You fellers have some serious talent, I would love to own a blade like that. You took something that most people would have thrown out and made a usable work of art. Keep it up from the Great State of Oklahoma, USA
Extraordinary work. All my respect for your fantastic skills. You are a really máster blacksmith. That's a knife, awesome, terrible, great and very sharp. It's a beautifull knife. This Is an "all water" caloric treatment. God bless your hands, dear máster. Greetings from Guatemala, the Land of Quetzal Bird, simbol of Freedom.
Lol quetzle were found in many places... I didnt know it was the symbol for freedom. That knife looks "cool" but maybe only for hanging on your wall. I would not want to actually have to use it. They heated/softened it, then only hardened the edge... This blade would bend in half really easily. It would lose its edge on the first task. Lots of compliments to the bladesmith for making a cool looking blade, True blacksmith? I dunno.
Come on now, that's how real men used to make everything back in day. look at the crazy basrards that built bridges and skyscrapers that used to toss around red hot rivets while walking across beams they weren't tied off too a couple hundred feet in the air. that's when men were REAL MEN and did what they had to in order to provide for their families. nowadays we have guys that claim to be men but can't even check their own oil in their car, change a damn spare tire on their car or use a simple tool like a screwdriver. said what people are coming to thesedays.
I just wish they'd carry the same width of tang further down so more confidence could be had in the blade/ tang junction!!! That big of a blade deserves more tang to be truly up to snuff.
He's also not sharpening it evenly and keeping the same edge angles on both side. When the edge is facing him he kick the blade up and the end of his stroke, but only on that side so he's not sharpening evenly.
Also it's not impressive or giving your blade edge q good test of its strength cutting weak plants cut into a tree then I'll be more impressed I can split oak wood with my bastard sword and nothing done to the edge thats impressive.
@@blacksmithspr You are a talent blacksmith and a respectful man. There are always things to learn in life. I hope you have a straordinary life my friend
That’s not a knife 😯 it’s a blady sword 🗡 very cool process though good team work, health and safety completely out of the window😂 excellent job nun the less👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😊😊
This is so brilliantly shit it’s amazing … in the Uk you’d have to make this a total pretence and plaster it all over Instagram as some retro vintage bollox … good work guys. Real work
Great work and skills. There will come a day where your skills will be light years ahead of most of the world, even without the power grinders, where your abilities to make tools out of scrap will reign supreme. Bravo
Any thanks so much for your watching. We are living in the poor countryside. So we have just only real power and modern tools. Thanks 🙏 for support us.
I make stuff almost the same way. Using what I have. You guys are incredibly skilled and quite ingenious. I'd totally buy that blade. It looks brutal. God bless!
Thanks so much for your support and watching us. Our Anvil was from a big truck which was in 1980. From my great grandfather. But we are still using this until now.
@@blacksmithspr I am in the United States. Do you have an address? If so I would like to send you a piece of my steel and have you make a knife for me.
The best knife (10" blade) I ever made is from an OLD FILE. A leaf from a ooold truck leaf spring makes a good knife too. My "file knife" will notch my KA-BAR's blade and still shave my face like my straight razor. You children don't know squat about blademaking. My Greatgrandpa did and he taught me a little bit. He was a carpenter and made froes to make shake shingles and other hand tools (former [firmer] chisels) 140 years ago.
When you see noobs crying about needing 3 burner forges, and safety Nazis that ruin all the fun, i think about these guys. Making beautiful works with very little.
Cutting the blank with an angle grinder will save time, fuel and money. Just it's a forging channel doesn't mean that you have to use the forge to cut the metal
Wouldn't the tang eventually pull loose from the wooden handle? I would be afraid of that heavy blade flying off one day after repeated hard swings and blows.
Why not a full tang . You make this look so easy I am on my 4th chain saw bar and I only got 2 more . I am a welder by trade my uncle is a carpenter and he is a expert at swinging a hammer. So I will do the heating and he will do the beating 😏

The only reason I haven't tried using them is because they aren't any cheaper than buying new steel in my area.
