Same. Idk if you’re from the area, but there was _nothing_ like a “Pedro Day” when he was pitching in Boston during that time. The entire city was just electric and buzzing at the prospect of watching Petey strike out 15 or 18 on a given night. So much fun to watch. Little skinny Pedro striking out a bunch of monsters on steroids for years.
He knows how to dominate them both mentally and pitching many players described him as intimidating for a reason. This dude sent home many many good players hitless.
Prime pedro had 5 pitches to get you out with. No one has that kind of stuff, and has been that dominant, in a long time. The diamond favors hitting over pitching. No matter what park you go to. Tons of power throughout every lineup. On the good teams you have at least 6+ hitters who can put up solid HR and Slugging numbers

I’m a yankee fan and my brother a met , I was never a Martinez fan , my brother met him once at his job , took a picture with him and said he was the nicest guy , very down to earth , great person 😮😢
I'm glad to hear Pedro say this stuff. I never sniffed anything above high school levels, but as a former catcher, I've been saying for _years_ that I would call the exact pitches that Pedro says he would throw to Judge. Glad I actually know my stuff as much as I think I do
@@Nickalzz yeah he is but he wouldn't hit prime Pedro. or he'd do around what he does in the playoffs when he has to face elite pitching --- hit .211, with 66 strikeouts to 36 hits ratio.
@@LysergiCoyotlguys are throwing way harder today than the 90s tho. If judge can be good against them I think he can hit Pedro too. Obviously this doesn't mean pedro wont strike him out a couple of times
It's nearly impossible to criticize Pedro Martinez from 1998 - 2000. That's as good as pitching got. This man had an earned run average of 1.6 in a league where the second best pitcher was 3.7! With the league average ERA near 5
😂😂😂 that's actually funny because by all accounts Judge is such a nice person off the field. As a Jays fan I can't root against Judge, he's such a talent and a fantastic role model.
Koufax used to get hitters out by throwing fastballs up and in followed by curves down and away. That’s because he was Koufax. And Pedro is Pedro. Almost everyone else does this and will miss by a few inches and … adios.
pitchers have got to know this, of course, even though Pedro is one of the greats.... They all have resources on their speed dial and organizations... just makes it even more impressive he is still saying...Seee yahhh!
I agree with Pedro 98% if I'm a pitcher in the MLB I'm not protecting any hitters home run capability I'm going for the jugular and trying to strike him out every at bat period.. I'm not protecting any hitter or their legacy whether or not it's good for baseball or not...
Good segment to keep. I’d like to see the AI judge in the box and then the ai heat map or graphic too. It would eliminate the PowerPoint thing and look cooler
Thats how I pitch him on MLB The show....sinkers down low and high inside fastballs. And I still walk him and he still gets hits. Of course I'm playing the computer.
Changing speeds, location and pitch type is right, but PITCHING INSIDE TO JUDGE...I saw him destroy middle inside balls for homers, the middle inside is a dangerous zone against him because of the drills he does
2 things. While Pedro knows a thing or 2 about pitching. Pitchers been employing this strat of nibbling down and away on Judge the last 3 years getting bogus strikes. He still remains discipline and almost always gets to 3-2. You will have no choice but to buzz him off the plate or change his eye level. He doesn’t crowd the plate so throwing inside will look obvious. Judge will abuse you Pedro. Umpires check hands for substance and your trick of suntan lotion in your hair won’t work on start days. You and Clay Bucholtz were never slick… just y’all hair 😂
How would I pitch to Judge? I wouldn't. I would pitch to Stanton and the rest of the bums batting behind him in the Yankee lineup. Soto and Judge are the only good hitters they have. Why pitch to them.
Pedro’s my third on my Boston Rushmore but didn’t he lead the league in HBP Mr I wouldn’t pitch inside to protect Judge if you can’t master control. How many people did he intentionally hit that he cared about before he was 50?
Pedro 😂 The man is the literal Goat Pitcher he striking Judges ass out. This man went against CRAZY ROIDED OUT lineups in his day and was pitching Gems not even a debate
I could listen to Pedro talk shop all day long

Him and Maddox
That guy was unbelievable...one of the best pitchers I ever saw. His control was on point.
@@Andy_Babb I’m actually a Yankees fan but Pedro was still my favorite pitcher. No matter what, I’ll always respect him.
Most pitchers fear the pink part of the heat map, Pedro sees it as where you can get Judge to chase. One of the greatest ever.
Most pitchers don't have prime Pedro's arsenal of 4++ pitches coming out with exactly the same arm action

He said something very subtle... Not only changing location and pitch variety, but CHANGE SPEEDS.. that's pitching.. not just throwing

Appreciate how he has improved his English to share his pitching genius.
Definitely, pedro dropping a lot of concise stuff here lol
Nah that’s the thing with Pedro. He picked up English and slang so fast and from day 1, that he’s always a good soundbite
3:26 This is insane to hear coming from one of the best pitchers ever, Judge is really racking!
Pedro is exactly right.
(He truly is a wizard!)
..I've seen Judge swing & miss/ strike out on pitches low and away.
Tbh most players miss out on those kind of pitches
Swings and misses alot otherwise

My eyes, my eyes!!!
They look like clowns
pimps on the show
Not tailored well
Never clicked on a title faster.
Pedro the GOAT
Love this guy
I'm a Yankee fan but TBH, prime Pedro would strike Aaron Judge out consistently
I just don’t think so. I’m sure they’d trade like a lot of great pitchers/hitters. Judge is a generational talent.

Pedro was a pitcher, not a thrower. He lost mph off his fastball and still dominated.
@LysergiCoyotl I think he presses in the playoffs because he's been the only one on the team who can hit and he knows this. So he trys too hard
those two other guys look lik villians from a batman movie lmao
Pedro gives me the confidence to what to pick to judge man. I’ll strike him out easy after this!
😄😁😂🙃
I changed my name to Pedro as a kid jokingly, but I viewed him as the best and wanted to copy his greatness.
Pedro was the smartest pitcher I ever saw in 70 years of watching baseball.

Down/away up/in been weaknesses for hitters
Pedro hop on a podcast
In his prime, the best pitcher I’ve personally ever seen.
Pedro, Maddux and The Big Unit dominated for well over a decade..... without steroids 😂

That's the same with Pedro and Koufax. Today's pitchers don't pitch. They throw.

First pitch right under the chin to set the tone. Second pitch same location
Pedro gone get lit up
Judge has been crushing pitches inside off the plate
⚠️Hot take-Judge will take Pedro deep
Just like Pedro would strike him out 10 times lol.
Pedro will get him 9 out 10 times. We’ll see if Judge can take chin music deep ⚾️
Pedro throws at him.
Interesting, I enjoy players talking about the game.
I love how Pedro, arguably the greatest peak in MLB pitching history, sounds scared to pitch to judge
Awesome now I got something to do to every thing.

All the pitchers should be taking notes
idk who the other two are (casual fan) but their suits look like if willy wonka split in half and became two different people, and then turned italian
Those aren't italians..
It's getting to the point where the game plan against him is what they used to say about Hank Aaron: "Just make sure nobody's on when he hits it out."
I would spend good money to watch this battle.
The purple dinosaur suit is distracting

Walk him with runners on in the regular season and the WC, but attack him in the ALDS/ALCS. Thats how you minimize his overall impact
Pedro would smash judge and i am a Yankees fan. I can't physically lie
For some reason they throw inside in the middle to judge everytime
Pedro who's your dadddyy?? ❤ GO Yankees!
How to pitch to Aaron judge? Just let him face postseason pitching 😭
Yep, that's where he chokes. Maybe this year, it's different.
Ok but how do you pitch to Luis Arraze
I don't think Pedro understands what the heat map is
MLB NETWORK-where players snitch and get snitched on. 😆

He'll probably just hit him with the ball
