You could argue that Judge is having the greatest season any Center fielder ever had. That Ohtani is having the best a DH ever had. Witt is having the best season in the Royals franchise history possibly. Skenes is the most dominant rookie pitcher, at least in my lifetime. The majority of teams still have a reasonable shot at the postseason. What a great season for MLB so far.
This stat says it all: Guys who hit 50 home runs three times in their career. Ruth, McGwire and Sosa. The latter two used steroids. Judge two away. Those are Hall of Fame numbers.
Honestly… that’s the best way to put it. Hopefully Judge ends his career with a ring. If he doesn’t that’ll be a shame but he’ll have a spot in the Hall when it’s all said and done.
People need to stop with Yankee Stadium being a small ballpark because of the right field porch. It's 385 to right center. Not many parks are that deep. 408 to CF which is top 5 in MLB. 399 to left center where if you've seen A.J. like I have it's where the majority of his homers go. Yankees Stadium is not a small ballpark.
There’s no doubt about it that Aaron Judge is arguably a top five hitter of all time I would say top 10 at this point, but you’ll probably end up in the top five
Kudos to Aaron Judge. It's a shame that baseball ⚾ does such a poor job of marketing its stars! Especially in a city like New York playing for a historic franchise like the Yankees who are a global brand. A couple of days ago, they were saying that Caitlin Clark is more popular than Aaron Judge! That's should be blastphemous for a sport that was once considered America's past time!
@@keithgupton9349it’s the media bro. C.c not more popular than Aaron judge c.c. She’s not more popular amongst us sports fans and who cares about her fans🤷🏾♂️I’m a white Sox fan but what judge doing is ridiculous the media should be ashamed
That's how baseball fans like it. We don't want pop culture infiltrating the game we like. MLB and NHL make plenty of money, as do their players, yet nobodies are always saying they need to "grow the game." Who benefits? Not the current loyal fans.
Crazy! But MLB is horrible at promotion. The stupid unwritten rules, and blackballing guys over steroids (which fans don't care about), killed the game. Even fans who used to like baseball moved onto other things. I dropped baseball for the NBA decades ago and Dana White has done a great job getting me to care about UFC
I'm an Aaron Judge fan and die hard Yankees fan, but I wouldn't put him in the top 5. He's got a ways to go before he's in the top 10. David Ortiz, Alex Rodriguez, Barry Bonds, Albert Pujols, Joey Votto, Andre Dawson, Gary Sheffield, Sammy Sosa, Mark McGuire, Babe Ruth, Ken Griffy Jr, Willie Mays, Jim Thome, Manny Rameriz just to name a few.
good point. This clown parker does the same thing with basketball as well. Somebody has a couple of good years and now they are the "greatest of all time"
Top 5?! Judge had a very good 2017, an incredible 2022 and is having an amazing 2024. Three great years. Apart from that his numbers are ok but not great. And he is 32 years old and prone to injuries. He needs to catch up fast to be in the GOAT conversation. My main issue with Judge is that he hits a lot of homeruns but his total RBI number and RBI/HR Ratio is low. He currently has 690 RBIs while Hank Aaron ended up with 2,297, Pujols 2,218, Mays 1,909. He will need around 130 RBIs for 10 years to reach 2,000.
He had 37 homers last year in 106 games, RBIS are somewhat team dependent and the Yankees have failed to build around judge his entire career, until this season with Soto. And look at his RBI total now.
Ya, I love Judge and he is incredible, but yes, he has had 3 fantastic seasons (including this season). He's only 32 - we need to give him a few more years before we start ranking him on all time lists.
He's second all time in AB/HR, after this year will have 2 of the 25 greatest seasons a hitter has had in the modern era (1901-present), likely 2 MVPs. He's the fastest ever to 300 HR by games and ABs. He's 11th all time in slugging and 10th in OPS. And the guys ahead of him all either played in easier eras or cheated to get on the list. There's a very legitimate argument that on an "at their best" basis, Judge is the best hitter ever. When your OPS and OPS+ are only matched or topped by cheaters or players from 70-120 years ago, you belong in the conversation for top 5 sluggers.
I mean, look at the facts. He's 11th all time in slugging, with only cheaters and guys of on 70+ years ago who played in easier eras ahead of him. 10th in OPS. His current OPS+ on the season is 226, which only Ruth, Williams and Bonds have topped in the Modern MLB era. He's second all time in AB/HR, topped only by a cheater, McGwire. Fastest ever by games and ABs to 300 HR. If that isn't a solid argument for top 5 best (not most prolific mind, but BEST) then I'd love to hear what you think one sounds like.
If it's so easy to do why doesn't the opposition hit more home runs there? How come Soto isn't hitting 60? Stanton hasn't even hit 40 and he plays there. Not as easy as you want everyone to believe. Center field is 408 and left center is one of the deepest at 399 at Yankee Stadium. Why the national obsession with left at Yankee Stadium? Isn't right field really close in ballparks like Houston and Boston?
You could argue that Judge is having the greatest season any Center fielder ever had. That Ohtani is having the best a DH ever had. Witt is having the best season in the Royals franchise history possibly. Skenes is the most dominant rookie pitcher, at least in my lifetime.
