That 100% is a ripoff of the infamous Deep Note.

20+ years later and I’m not totally convinced we’ve yet eclipsed the E39 M5…
I can't get into anything that has 0 feeling from the steering wheel, every other aspect has been eclipsed.
Could you imagine if it was still being manufactured? Just updated infotainment and improved cupholders? Of course, people would complain it's slow except for the M5

@@deansmits006Have you seen the M5 CS? I prefer over the E39 M5 in every way, though the E39 still looks good considering it's two decades old. But hey, freedom of choice is a good thing.
couldnt agree more John! i've always said its one of the best cars ever made (in terms of being ahead of everything else at that time) and definitely the best BMW ever made.
5300 lbs must be brutal on the wear and tear items
Most EVs that come into my shop have leaking CV axle joints, tires are worn faster, and suspension bushings crack easily especially in winter temperatures.
Not to mention the wear and tear on roads and bridges if e.v.s actually scale to large numbers

5200lbs, not 6k (M550i is 4500lbs). Definitely heavy, but not 6k. There is increased tire wear, but fortunately significantly less wear & maintenance overall than ICE version. Longer brake life, no oil changes, spark plugs, etc.
Operating costs are ~50% less than ICE when looking at maintenance and fuel/energy overall.

Hats off to BMW exterior design team. They have managed to f@&k up every design BMW has to offer now. The 5 Series was the last good looking car BMW made that is no longer the case. Takes true lack of talent to mess everything up you touch.

Major blunder imo. I'm the target market for this vehicle but really doesn't speak to me. I would choose a Lexus or a Camry before this.
@trut52 I've had a 2015 camry se that thing was sooo nice till someone hit me and totaled it and that was my first car....... I would recommend someone getting a car like that cuz the cops don't suspect a thing wen I passed them at 95 mph on a 65 mph highway that car is a car that u can go as fast as u want but do that......

@@rokkimaize7333 Is it though? They actively avoid each other despite having the press car back to back frequently. Even in the episodes (I think CTR) where Thomas is on camera for them it looks forced and awkward. It's weird and sad but I think it's far from over.

As someone who grew up as a BMW fan and in/near several BMW models owned by my late father (my very first car was an used E36 back in 2004)... this is simply unappealing to me. I dont like the look of it, I dont like the interior, I am not a fan of BEVs... Yeah, not for me. Great video guys. Production quality is really top notch.

While it’s sort of disappointing that BMW is styling its vehicles based on the tastes of the far east markets, I understand they and wish them the best of luck. I guess when you’re selling twice as many cars in China as you are the United States it makes sense.
This is definitely NOT aligned with Chinese atheistic appealing by any chance, the face lifted version of current gen is, Chinese also once would love to pay a good mark up for this gen 4 series. The feedback of this one is terrible.

To me the last flawless 5 series design was the F10 generation 5 series. It went all downhill after that coz that was peak BMW design era. They sort of came back with previous gen M2 and the 8 series which is on its last legs but damn wish BMW was as conservative as Audi when it comes to designs. The current A6 and A4 are still looking gorgeous with minimal changes.
I really like f10 too, dont know why its not popular among car people. I really like G30 too tho
@@skipijs5316 i too love the G30 gen but it doesn't look as exquisite as the F10. The F10 looked delicious and timeless and had the perfect size for a 5 series car, length and width wise! G30 model was huge! (to drive on indian roads and traffic)

And yeah I got the updated I Drive , so like I own the IX 40 xdrive and the other day while im driving the screen suddenly went blank then I panicked , I thought there’s something wrong with my car but then suddenly the interface turned on again but the display was different, then I called the dealership they say don’t worry it’s just a software update 🤣🤣🤣

I paid $185k for the M5 F10 in 2012 and sold it for $40k in 2022. They’re asking for $100k for this i5 M60 now.

One of the biggest blunders of modern super computers on wheels, aka cars, is that manufacturers are forced to build cars for the ignorant masses. Those who opine that Conor McGregor is the epitome of MMA, those who believe Eminem is the king of hip hop, who regard Taylor Swift as a pop icon. The pedestrian, bandwagon-jumping general public who think they know what constitutes a good car. And yes perhaps I am also guilty of such conviction that throws me into the crowd of the car buying public.
We demand cars to have more safety features. To be bigger. To adopt a crossover form factor. To have 500 hp. To have soft touch surfaces on basically everything our eyes can scan. And viola. The birth of modern cars.
The new 5 Series highlights the unfortunate state of current affairs in the industry -- albeit in a sedan form. I also have a new(ish) BMW in my fleet of vehicles. And it's comfy, it's fast, it's a looker. It cocoons me in the cockpit and surrounds me with more tech than I can fathom at any given instant once my velocity exceeds 1 mile per minute. When my gray matter needs to focus and allocate its RAM for lateral thinking and decision making, I cannot be bothered with 5 million seat functions, that's only accessible with 2 swipes on the touch screen, and 4 taps into the setting. Yet it's there, because we demand it.
So instead of cars becoming leaner and tighter, now they're all on steroids. Instead of Michael Phelps-like athleticism, we get Bob Sapp-like brutalism. No offense to the latter individual. On the brighter side, we have cars that can do it all on. We get the Shohei Ohtani of metal on wheels (with unpainted plastic fighting for real estate, and quickly making headway) capable of whatever you ask. Cars can now escort you safely and comfortably to Whole Foods when you've run out of butter, while accelerating to 60 and back below 40 before the napping cop can wake up fast enough to spot you.
The past 6 months of my life has been one hell of an adventure for my family and I. We've relocated over a thousand miles further south, I've been assigned a new position at my job. Naturally it's time to make some modifications to my fleet of cars. Which now has me thinking long and hard about what really used to make me happy behind the wheel of a car. I recall the last time I felt such an emotion had me hooning up and down the Interstates, around town, getting a ticket or two for said hooning. That culprit as I recall was a naturally aspirated, 6 speed manual, rear wheel driven coupe -- aka endangered species.
So now my search begins. To lasso that unicorn, to save that last lonely peacock calling for its long vanished mate. Once I find it, off I go for the proverbial ride into the sunset.

10:28 iDrive 8.0 does not update to 8.5 and the upcoming iDrive 9 will be incompatible with 8.5. It's quite messy, considering the UI improvements that are basically just minor software tweaks.

I think if I had never seen a previous BMW 5 series before, I wouldn’t mind the way this looks. The problem is, I have seen a previous BMW 5 series, and this just looks so much worse. yesterday I saw a previous generation M5 CS in green with the yellow DRLs and it is literally hundreds of times better looking than this car.
