The vegan twist to cruelty free is the most incredible. Looks delicious!
I grew up with White Castles (cheap dinner for a family of seven) -- back when they had carhops (but after they wore roller skates).
Fast forward a few decades: WC sold vegan burgers in the early days of the pandemic, but I didn't trust them: too "meaty." A regional grocery chain carried them, frozen, but discontinued them.
The point being: They're pure nostalgia for me and I shall make these, thanks!

I've always just loved onions and mustard on mine, pickles need to be on the side. I am always looking for vegan mini buns, now I believe I can find something similar. Thanks. Freezing some sounds like a great idea.

You forgot a key ingredient, cabbage juice. that's what they use to help steam the buns. classic german style mustard was also a original. but great job, and now I want some sliders!

Totally want to try the frozen method! What foil and size of foil do you use? My Costco foil just isn't quite right for sandwiches/burritos.

😂😂 Whhhaaatttt???? Nah , don't say that. Well, maybe now you are right lol. I used to love White Castles and when I moved to the south and they didn't have it, I almost lost my mind. Every time I went back to Detroit, I tried my best to get some. It is not the same anymore.
@@Pheexperiments As a Detroiter who last ate a White Castle in the early 1990s before becoming a vegetarian, I must emphasize that it's just a tiny burger and you can make it yourself!

I grew up on White Castles. They are all over this city. Their vegan version, however, is a ripoff. White Castle is known for the steamed bun and onions and added pickle (no ketchup; that’s a Southern copycat) but the Impossible WC has none of those. It tastes like cardboard on a hard bun.
Years ago, WC was open 24 hours a day, only locking up on Christmas Day, so it became our tradition to get take out White Castles on Christmas Eve and eat them while assembling and wrapping our children’s Christmas presents. Now, when that memory tugs at my heartstrings, I do make my own…the right way!

Important question: did you also try the frozen/microwaved sliders the next day, or did you only try them when you got home drunk? That naturally makes a world of difference! :D

I had White Castle once in the early nineties or late eighties. It was awful. Why would you steam a burger? Oh that’s right, efficiency. Bleccchhh. Your 1921 burger looked so much better and was vegan! 😃
