@@LopsidedMoz There's a lot of used warhammer fantasy models floating around. Also, there are tons of other companies making cool minis these days - mantic, warlords, wyrd. Click around, you might find something cool!
Hey thanks! Such a big fun git gob. I've even gotten to use them in games, and having piles of these runty little guys on the table is a lot of fun :-)
I gotta be honest I could never see myself painting more than 20 or so of anything, even if they don't all have the same color scheme, 20 was the point where I stopped painting chaos warriors and started kitbashing them to be something more interesting... And I didn't even paint them all at the same time! Huge props for somehow managing 100 bloody goblins out of all things.
I don’t comment on videos often, but this was very motivational and I’m looking forward to painting my big batch of Duardin soon. Also got me through a rather large terrain job! Thanks!
What's very helpful, as I get from the video, is your method. I used to do 3-4 minis at the same time, finish them, and then start another 4. I took time to finish 20-40 minis, and I got tired since you have to repeat tasks, and start over, repeat.. Then I changed my approach: I prepare them and I start making the same step for ALL of them. This is incredibly better, once you finish a process you don't have to repeat it and it's very motivationg, like you finished a quest. And go to the next one. I started 20 GW orcs (for KOW army) 4 days ago, and I am close to finish them. Once I'd have take much more time to have them ready. Thanks for the inspiration!
brilliant! Super inspiring. I play Warhammer Armies Project: 9th Ed. It's a community made rulebook taking the best of the last 3 editions, they also have army books to match. I've been really enjoying it. Something to consider since they're still on their square bases.
I'd love to play some Warhammer Fantasy again someday! I have fond memories and unfinished business with that game :-) I was definitely keeping my options open with the square bases.

Great video! Batchpainting can be a real hassel, but once you're done you feel great at having achieved so much work. Doing a painting challenge myself atm and had been burned out on painting the last 3 days. But this gave me some much needed motivation to get back to painting the last minis. Hope the rest of your channel is as awesome as this, because this was a great video!
This video popped on my recommandations and while some of them are a clear indication that RUclips is smoking weed, this one was a real pleasure to watch. Love the calm and soft voice/vibes of the video, the explanations and advice and really makes me want to replay the video while doing some painting (but not 100 models :D). @@GoobertownHobbies That is the minimum amount I would guess one of these need to achieve that look you got :D Must have been hard to grind it but apparently it is very efficient way of painting
Very useful, I have 80 gaunts to paint here in the near future and will be using some of these tricks to help. I personally find listening to comedians when I hobby the least distracting form of white noise aside from music. I personally cant watch TV, I find myself glancing up way too often. Oh and copious amounts of coffee help too. Thanks for the tips and great video!
Thanks! Yeah I definitely went through a netflix comedy standup phase, you're right about that. I like to be at about 1 cup of coffee - can't be too jittery! Have fun with the gaunts :-)

Awesome planning and awesome execution. Lots of fun to see them proper and ranked up like the miserable little gits they are ;). Seriously though, funtastic job and somewhat strangely soothing to watch...
Thanks Brian! Yeah I was hoping they would all look awesome in a big block, that's what kept me going through the slow parts :-) But now I wonder how good 200 miserable little goblins would look...
I'm really glad I found this video. I have around 110 of Warhammer fantasy Imperial (Highland Miniatures printed) 32mm models I've been afraid to paint. Handgunners, halberdiers, and pikemen. I've already painted 20 hand gunners and it took me a couple weeks. But you've given me several good tips that should help me speed up my painting. The organizing of poses and weapons before starting is definitely a great one. Thanks!!
Being overloaded as I am with all the hobby projects I’m currently working on, ive fiercely resisted the urge to build a gloomspite gitz army ever since they were recently released. But this awesome tutorial is testing my will power INCREDIBLY!!!
I’m watching this video again as motivation to actually build and paint a night goblin army. I want to get into WFB and love the oldhammer metal models. This might help me lean toward the Skull Pass plastic gobbos. So good.
I like the time breakdown. Congratulations on finishing so many models, and at a great tabletop quality level! I haven't yet done the pre-plan. I guess I sort of do, I tackle a small part of a unit, usually 10 models and record the paint and steps I make on an index card as I do it. Then the next time I paint that unit type again, I refer to the index card and tackle 30 or so models at once. I am going to try the pre-plan approach with my Plaguebearers. I've found the Vallejo Game Color Extra Opaque paint line helps a ton with base coating, especially when batch painting.
Oooh, I'll have to look into that Vallejo extra opaque line. Getting a color done on a single pass would have massively helped on the purple and browns. I've considered grabbing GWs base coats for that reason, but I just hate the GW bottles so much. Vallejo though.... yes... Nice habit writing down your recipes. I wish I had gotten into that a long time ago!
GW used to have a line called Foundation Paints which were single coat bases. The GW base coats are okay, but the Vallejo extra opaque is more like GW's old Foundation line. There's also a line Creature Caster carries that appears to function like extra opaque due to pigment density - going to be ordering that soon. (The Vallejo extra opaques are mostly muted/dark shades - this improves their effectiveness. The Creature Caster carried line appears to contain many bright colors.)
Thanks for watching David, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'll definitely make more like this, I'm working on a batch of bright green necromunda models right now.
I'm just about to get into the hobby with my first ork boys. I'm doing them in yellow myself and seeing these little grots come together just makes me so happy. The whole atmosphere in a zen painting session you put across makes me so eager to get painting personally. thanks for sharing this with us and keep up the good work!
Love your video style, made me instantly want to break out my paints and join in! Definitely was pretty awing to watch so many minis be transformed at once.
I have a load of 40k Orks that I've been neglecting to paint for some months, including a Mordor troll-Warboss conversion... you have given me the the motivation to go back to these and start getting them done. Great video, really well put together and presented. Good stuff, a subscription easily earned :)
Absolutely fantastic! Got yourself another sub good sir. I'm exited to see more of your content. I'm also a big fan of the channel you mentioned, and I'm happy to have found both of your channels.
Not gonna lie, first thinking 'ok, this should be interesting' and then 'I started by airbrushing' for me is kind of sigh, since most people don't have that. On the painting itself, its very cool to see it on camera mass painting all this and just hard not to be inspired by the organisation especially, great having like what was it 6 or 8 painting handles and how you lined them all up and well should be obvious I guess thinking back on it with organizing the colour scheme before hand so you should usually know where you are at and excellent job of what you said at the end, having a list of paintlist/order and crossing it out is an ingenious idea since like mentioned, i'm guessing it's quite satisfying to cross out. Fantastic job! will definitely use this for finish painting troops and oof, repainting most of my orks.
I'm glad there were some useful ideas in here for you! I know I learned a ton from doing this project. Taking the time to get organized is definitely worth it. I thought about painting these without an airbrush at all for the exact reason you mentioned. The results would have been pretty similar if I had just started by spray priming everything yellow or even brush primer --> brush yellow paint. Brush painting yellow still terrifies me though :-) Have fun with those orks!
So long as you just use it for basecoating (i.e. not accurate detailed airbrushing), you can get a cheap Chinese airbrush and compressor for, like, $50-$100 on eBay.
Great work, very enjoyable video. I loved the detailed process you used and the way you guided us through it step-by-step. Well done, the army looks great!
Sir.... You somehow manage to get me through (a very small in comparison) batch project, with this inspiring video! You should have waaaay more sub than you currently have! No doubt in my mind that they will come tho'! Cheers from denmark! Thank you, and happy hubbying! :)

You have a first class channel and I subscribed to it after watching the ink tutorial. I look forward to more tutorials from you in the future.
Thanks John, I'm happy to have you as a viewer! I've got tons of ideas for big tutorial type videos, and I won't be running out of models anytime soon. Now if I could just find more time to film... :-)
I love these minis. I'm definitely starting to feel the hype for Warhammer: The Old World. It'll be nice to rank these guys up again and try to win a battle, or at least take out some of my opponent's army with me.
Liked and Subbed. So glad a friend shared this with me and thankyou for taking the time to go through this process. There's a few of us who are veteran painters who have found this invaluable as we face painting new armies.
Hehehehe yeah way less paint on my hands and less fingerprints on the models. Also, those goblins are all neatly stored in a stackable cake pan right now. Magnets.
Back when I worked at a tabletop gaming shop, around the time Warmachine was new, the big thing was putting magnets in your warjacks so that you could remove destroyed limbs/heads.
@@ClokworkGremlin also great for characters and bigger with multiple assembly options. You get to paint more cool weapons and stuff and can customize easily before any game.
Really enjoyed the good calm vibe in your vid. Thx for sharing... as far as motivation goes i really look forward to the next step on this project. A few highlights, drybrushes and shades here and there could really turn them up that extra step.
Thanks! Yeah I just need to plan out some next steps. These goblins definitely deserve a sequel :-) Eyes, a bit of blacklining at intersections, a bit of shading and highlighting, maybe just a bit of dark pigment weathering to the bottom of the cloaks.... all the fun stuff!
@@GoobertownHobbies Personally i find the Gitz color scheme too bright for a army this size. Some tones washes and shades on that part would make them look less glowy.
@@shanarah76 I agree :-) Admittedly I left them a little too bright as thumbnail clickbait (apologies!) I'm thinking about hitting them with a gloss varnish and then a series of washes. In theory this will keep the current yellow as a highlight color but darken the models overall.
As crazy as this still is with an airbrush. You had an airbrush which made the main color fly. Not a lot of help but still shaved time from using brush the whole way. And I agree even as a 40k player mainly I don’t know still how I feel about round bases in sigmar. The Interesting appeal of fantasy was the large blocks of infantry
Yeah the airbrush probably saved a good 4 hours of slopping yellow on with a big brush- maybe more since yellow is tricky and might have required more layers than expected. I love these Warhammer Fantasy squares :-) Someday I'll make a round base AOS army, but the squares are so good when the models don't elbow their neighbors :-)

On the topic of yellow and airbrushes, I have my own story: I'm painting my marines in an orange and dark grey scheme.
1. Prime light grey and basecoat with a carbon/dark grey color (airbrush).
2. Paint chest, knees, feet, head, elbows, hands, shoulder rims, part of the power pack in a mix of gold yellow and orange fire (vallejo). Takes anywhere from 5 to 10 thin layers of orange.
3. Paint additional details like boltgun for guns, bright gold for emblems/aquila, blue for ropes/capse/cables and much more (well over 10 different colors, several hand mixed)
4. Glue the subassemblies (chest/legs + plus arms/guns + shoulders + head + power pack + pinning on base)
5. Wash orange and gold with seraphim sepia, some nuln oil on details, some aggrax earthshade for dirt effects.
6. Cry because I've done just over 40 models, but still have 15 marines, well over 40 primaris and 5 vehicles (2 rhinos, repulsor, land raider, imperial knight and a baneblade)
Once I've finished this army, I will never paint yellow/orange on a dark base again. I don't know what I was thinking.

If I base coat with my flash gitz I can probably get away with not mixing the orange layer and just paint it straight on. I'll try that.
Here's a quick and dirty album: imgur.com/a/efTHkrW
@@Smilomaniac Nice! that color combo works really well. All that work got a nice orange out.
I can't remember if I've ever used flash gitz or not- does it have decent coverage? Obviously theres a big range of transparencies in the yellow-orange range.
@@GoobertownHobbies - Thank you

Wow! Great video. That is a massive batch paint. Very inspirational. Thanks! I really enjoyed watching this. Making a list of steps and then crossing them off is, as you rightly say, very motivating.
Nice to see a WHFB army in this Age of Sigmar.
Yeah! These night goblins had been on my to-do list for a few editions. Now I'm starting to think that they need some friends :-)
I used to collect before AoS, I want to get back into it but I hate the new models/armies :(
@@LopsidedMoz There's a lot of used warhammer fantasy models floating around. Also, there are tons of other companies making cool minis these days - mantic, warlords, wyrd. Click around, you might find something cool!
What does WHFB stand for ? I dont know to much about Sigmar thanks man
@@savagex466-qt1io Warhammer Fantasy Battles. The game that came before Age of Sigmar.
Great pace to the video - and how cool they look all Gobbed together! A bonus was hearing of a fellow Stargate fan...Indeed!
You are my HERO. Have I mentioned lately how RAD YOU ARE and how happy I am to have found your channel? It's true, you're Rad and this channel rocks!
Thanks man! I'm going to try to keep earning your praise :-)
I don’t comment on videos often, but this was very motivational and I’m looking forward to painting my big batch of Duardin soon. Also got me through a rather large terrain job! Thanks!
Well thanks for leaving a comment this time! I'm glad that this is helping you out :-) Make sure to post those Duardin when you're done!
And oh hey, I knew I recognized this name :-) I love that minecart of yours.

Oh it's a great feeling when they're done. Totally worth it. Get back to work! :-)
I reiterate those comments below, I love your calm approach. It puts one in a zen mode just listening to you before I even touch a brush to a mini.
I'm really glad you liked the video! Now go paint :-)
This video popped on my recommandations and while some of them are a clear indication that RUclips is smoking weed, this one was a real pleasure to watch. Love the calm and soft voice/vibes of the video, the explanations and advice and really makes me want to replay the video while doing some painting (but not 100 models :D). Likes and subscribe done sir and thank you for this great video, hope you will do some more. Best regards from France.
Thanks & welcome aboard! I'm really glad that you are enjoying this video. I have many more models to paint, so I'll keep making content like this :-)
I found out about your channel through the youtube channel "metatron" and honestly your channel is without a doubt the best minis painting channel I've ever seen. I'm very impressed with the detail in everything and clear explanations. I couldn't find anything to criticize. 10/10 and you can expect me to continue watching more videos.

You put them on a square base as God intended you are my hero I will share this video.
The first WHFB unit I ever painted were 20 of the original plastic night goblin speargoblins. So yeah, I obviously put these on square bases!
Your videos are always so calming and happy, it puts me in such a good mood

This is so relaxing. You could really be the next Bob Ross.
I love this compliment :-) Bob Ross videos have recently started showing up on my suggested videos. The RUclips algorithm has read your comment hehehe.
Good job on such a big project. I like your use of magnets I add one to the bottom of the wood pedestals and keep them on cookie sheets to move around easy and fast.
Thanks!! Yeah I do that too, my handles also have magnets on the bottom so that I can stick them to cookie sheets :-)
as a kid I painted 64 Skink models from the old Lizardman range (that was 2!! monoposes).
drove me almost insane. I painted them one by one.
with more adult thinking and planing (or better: guidance), it may not have been such a toture.
great job! also, greetings, fellow left-hand ;)
I remember those well! :-) A spray on all 64, a wash, picking out the bows, and basing them would go a longggg way
I tired this... I lost my mind. You deserve a LOT more subs than what you have!
32 minutes per model is amazing at this quality, great job :)
Thanks! If I was doing them one at a time I'm pretty sure it would be like 90 minutes each :-)
@@GoobertownHobbies That is the minimum amount I would guess one of these need to achieve that look you got :D Must have been hard to grind it but apparently it is very efficient way of painting

Thanks!!

@@charlesfe Thanks for the tip! One of those lines might just be my next purchase.
i dont play anymore but really enjoyed watching while i draw! id love to see more vids like this! love the colours too!

Brush painting yellow still terrifies me though :-)
Have fun with those orks!
There's nothing done here with the airbrush that couldn't be easily done with a rattlecan- you'd just have to do it outside.
@@GoobertownHobbies @Joe Gekko Yeah I was gonna throw that in actually with the coloured spray cans, but forgot
@@joegekko with these temperatures, I will have to wait for months until I can start painting again... hate it.
So long as you just use it for basecoating (i.e. not accurate detailed airbrushing), you can get a cheap Chinese airbrush and compressor for, like, $50-$100 on eBay.
Wow, so impressed you did all that with your left hand too.
The real challenge would be for me to try this with my right hand!!! :-)

Me: “AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FO DAT”
*spraying with the magnetic columns*
Me: 😲
Hehehehe yeah way less paint on my hands and less fingerprints on the models. Also, those goblins are all neatly stored in a stackable cake pan right now. Magnets.
I was today years old when I learnt of the glory of the magnets
Back when I worked at a tabletop gaming shop, around the time Warmachine was new, the big thing was putting magnets in your warjacks so that you could remove destroyed limbs/heads.
@@ClokworkGremlin also great for characters and bigger with multiple assembly options. You get to paint more cool weapons and stuff and can customize easily before any game.
