That's a very nifty solution! The only issue, in my opinion, is the input lag that this would cause. Faster paced games might be difficult to play. However, puzzlers and story driven games would work well. :)

I do agree with this. I'm also waiting for a Chinese company to release a dock that holds the switch lite along with a pull out phone holder to project it to the t.v. however I have a normal switch so I'm good

@@emilymarie6486 It's a streaming service mate, nintendo could give the ok to add netflix to switch if they wanted to, there's like 3 streaming services on the switch. As for the inside (the actual upgrade) it's almost 3x better than a 3DS

Thanks so much for this. My mom doesn't have a lot of money, but knew that both me and my sister would want a switch to play animal crossing. So I told her that I don't mind having a switch lite while my sister gets the big one. I don't regret this decision, but sometimes I do wish I could just play on a bigger screen, as the small screen just feels a bit uncomfortable for me sometimes. Thank you!
I totally understand the connections after watching this. Awesome idea. Obviously your going to need a controller for this. How would you connect that? I'm a little lost on that part
definitely a good workaround for us that arent able to get their hands on a switch and instead had to go with the switch lite because of og switches not being in stock for months now, I didn't really mind about the docking anyhow but its nice to know theres a way to dock it if you really wanted to, so thanks for this I'll definitely have to try this out
I'm really thankful for your immense contribution. I was not confident by using this method, but you have given me a LOT of confidence with my switch lite. Regardless of what other people say, you uploaded something really awesome!
Not sure why everyone doesnt get it! If you only own the switch lite or prefer it for the dpad or whatever this is an amazing solution. So many haters!!!
Someone should manufacture a dock box that easily slides the switch lite inside(covering the front screen) and have an adjustable slot for smartphones in front of the box to film. The dock could charge both the switch and phone, and block sunlight which would always keep the image more stable. Would be way easier to adjust instead of having a stand and would be way more stable.
This isn't docking the switch lite though. It's just screen recording/screen sharing with a smart phone. Plus you need a mount and you need to get a controller to play it.
Even if u were able to dock it by cutting the sides off of a normal switch dock, it still won’t work cuz the switch lite doesn’t have that special video output chip so yeah this is a good alternative btw I didn’t watch the whole vid yet so idk if he already explained this
I don't understand why every reviewer of the Nintendo switch Lite says how appalling it is that it can't be docked. if you want to dock it get the OG switch but there is a lot of dedicated handheld fans that appreciate the light for what it is and have nearly no interest in docking it and playing it on a large TV. so switch Lite owners are not missing out on anything. the lite was specifically designed for handheld fans. Not Just little children. not to just have a second switch lying around but to satisfy gamers who just so happen to prefer their gaming on a handheld system (like myself) and it's the obvious choice for previous 3DS/psvita owners. So to that end for me, the switch light is exactly what it set out to be and I'm loving it. my one complaint, no Rumble of any kind. sorely missed and a bad move by Nintendo. and one last thing. the name. What would you have preferred it be called? it plays all the switch games. connects to and does everything the OG switch does. the name makes sense to me and it's called a switch "LITE" for reason. so if you want all the extra amenities/docking the switch offers go with the OG switch. if you just want an excellent portable handheld experience turn the switch light is perfect. either way it's a win-win and it's all Nintendo so nothing but love. peace out!!

Hands down don’t care what I pay for a Pro controller because I’ve played on one & it’s by far the best controller Ive ever played. And have had my hands on all out there. I’m trying this.
When I saw the thumbnail I thought “that’s a scam” but then I saw the setup and then I thought “how did I not think of that”?
Great video. Really the only option for Switch Lite honestly. Love the set up too, real clean. If it were me there'd be wires everywhere.
As the old internet saying goes, “if it looks stupid but it works, it ain’t stupid!”
I have a regular switch but was looking up docking solutions for a friend. This is pretty great and while not as elegant as some might hope for, is certainly viable and should be done by anyone with no other options. Great video.
Yeah. It's a make with what you got kind of solution or dish up some cash for the OG device.
I literally thought about this when I was convincing my mother I didn’t need the expensive switch
This video is extremely helpful. I just got a dock for the switch lite and tried (with absolute failure) to connect to hdmi before I found this video. Now I just bought a cable and the adapter and I'll save this video for later use.
Nintendo: You'll enjoy playing your regular Switch at home and your Switch Lite on the go!
Tech Yesterday: No, I don't I think I will
Keep in mind this is also a great option if you want to use your smart phone on an Elgato capture card and stream through OBS or use it as a webcam/pro recording camera.
Awesome idea!
IDK why I find this guy impressive and funny
Stop, your making me blush!
There's lots of dumb things on youtube but you deserve a crown for this one
This is my only problem with the Switch Lite, it can't dock. Thank you sir, for showing us this method!
Gotta love how you chose to edit out the phone recording from the thumbnail
I remember when this was being done w the original PSP lmao
I could never get that to work for my psp. 😦

"Switch Lite is meant to be an upgrade for 3DS"
Bold of Nintendo to assume I would upgrade my ds for a downgraded switch.
Yeah upgrade my ass. How am I supposed to play my old Pokémon gamess
It’s not an upgrade at all! I can watch Netflix on my 3DS but I can’t do that on my switch lite
@@emilymarie6486 It's a streaming service mate, nintendo could give the ok to add netflix to switch if they wanted to, there's like 3 streaming services on the switch. As for the inside (the actual upgrade) it's almost 3x better than a 3DS
Open camera is an app for Android phones. What’s a good one for Apple devices? I’m having troubles finding one that gets everything off of the screen.
The best app I found for ios is called "True Visage". I found that it works best with iPhones that have a home button since the aspect ratio is better suited for the switch.
@@gaminggarchomp3752 problem is it’s not 60 fps
@@rafaeldolores4782 bruh is fine with 30 just deal with it
Outside the box thinking man mad props ! Since I got mines I’ve been racking my brain on how I could possibly make this work 😂
this is prolly the most kosher way and cheapest way to do this. Appreciate it bro
You can just connect a pro controller to your switch lite
definitely a good workaround for us that arent able to get their hands on a switch and instead had to go with the switch lite because of og switches not being in stock for months now, I didn't really mind about the docking anyhow but its nice to know theres a way to dock it if you really wanted to, so thanks for this I'll definitely have to try this out
Can you do this on a monitor aswell?
Definitely caught me off guard with this one 😂
I wouldn’t really call this an “easy” solution but I guess it’s one..
Its the only solution, so...ya...
You beat the Switch Lite system!
Tech Yesterday and we appreciate you for it
there will be a real way soon
Tech Yesterday the other solution is getting the regular switch with real and proper docking capabilities.
I'm really thankful for your immense contribution. I was not confident by using this method, but you have given me a LOT of confidence with my switch lite. Regardless of what other people say, you uploaded something really awesome!
Thank you for the kind words brotha! Your my new pinned comment!
Not sure why everyone doesnt get it! If you only own the switch lite or prefer it for the dpad or whatever this is an amazing solution. So many haters!!!
@@carsonshea653 good point. Too bad you can’t use that sexy D-pad with this setup. One of the very few downsides of this scheme.
very clear and proper instruction👍
Me when my doc breaks: *looks at phone*
If there is a will there's a way. Man this shit is gehtto but I LOVE the idea.
Docking the Undockable ! this is true madness
Ghetto* :]
Tech Yesterday: Dock a switch without a dock
Nintendo: No, this isn't how you supposed to play the game
But he didnt :v using an smartphone camera looks bad
I’m having trouble connecting the audio of my switch to the tv. The wire I have works but I don’t get how to put the sound on. Can someone help?
Back to the ds and 3ds days when people didn't have capture cards they did the same thing with worse cameras. Still it was worth it
3ds was good but the 240p screen resolution made the games look bad for today's standards (3ds was still an absolutely brilliant system tho)
Even if u were able to dock it by cutting the sides off of a normal switch dock, it still won’t work cuz the switch lite doesn’t have that special video output chip so yeah this is a good alternative btw I didn’t watch the whole vid yet so idk if he already explained this
This Man: Docks Switch Lite
Nintendo (with Dalek voice): Cease and Desist. Cease...and...Desiiiiiist
So to that end for me, the switch light is exactly what
it set out to be and I'm loving it. my one complaint, no Rumble of any kind. sorely missed and a bad move by Nintendo. and one last thing. the name. What would you have preferred it be called? it plays all the switch games. connects to and does everything the OG switch does. the name makes sense to me and it's called a switch "LITE" for reason. so if you want all the extra amenities/docking the switch offers go with the OG switch. if you just want an excellent portable handheld experience turn the switch light is perfect. either way it's a win-win and it's all Nintendo so nothing but love. peace out!!
Thanks for watching the video and supporting our channel!
I have an s8 plus lol. This is a great idea thank you. I didn't know that you do budget PC builds! Now I'm excited. Once I get a job and save up some money I'll finally be able to build a PC.

@@techyesterday4960 No problem. Thank you so much for the content! You're the first RUclipsr that I could find for budget pc builds.
Idk how to do it, but couldn't someone just install a output vid chip in a switch lite, or take the guts from a switch and put them in a lite?
This is a legit question from me.
Lol it actually works. You guys are heroes 😍
LOL thank you!

I LOVE ghetto rigging things so this is perfect for me 😂 I got my switch lite as a gift bc I couldn't afford a switch so this'll be great!
I knew that someone would do it..so people it's all fine..and when it's homebrewd etc or way more stuff in the future no worries..
Yes once its finally homebrewed we will hopefully see an screen casting option where you can do this method without a smart phone. The quality will be even better.
@@techyesterday4960 there is new homebrew sysmodule called sysdvr that allowed me to stream my switch to twitch or live video. it is very cool. it only work with atmosphere cfw on original switches right now
@@techyesterday4960 It will be able to be modded soon. I can tell you that because there are these people making a chip that you put into your switch lite (you have to take it open) to be able to be modded (hopefully.) after this is out, (comes out sometime January 2020) there will probably be switch lite mods and all that stuff.
but this is the cheapest and safest way to play with your Lite on TV without breaking the warranty :)

But you’d need a controller to play as well right??
Yes a compatible one maybe a Hori or the pro controller
