much respect, the way you make your videos is superior to most others as you add tons of details and angles to help assist in learning such things.
Thank You...
Agreed - just what I was looking for! Many thanks Steve from Nova Scotia, Canada
Top quality instruction as always Steve. Also, excellent camera work!
Thanks again!
Your gift is your ability to share your knowledge to help others fix and maintain their own equipment! Thanks for using small words and speaking slowly LoL
One of the best, if not the best U-Tube videos that I have seen. Firstly, the presentation required thirteen minutes and you took exactly that time: No adlibbing, no foolish comments/remarks that are useless and time consuming. Obviously you gave prior thought to what you were going to share and how. Unlike a lot of other presenters you did not get in front of the camera and then start to think about what you are going to present. So many presenters cause a ten minute presentation to go on for twenty and thirty minutes.
Well done on a clear, succinct and very instructive presentation.
WOW! Thank you so much...
Hello Steve . I can not help thinking if I was passenger on a plane that the captain could not land , I believe you would be the man to talk me down . The explanation of this video is really 100 per cent . Simple and clear .
Thank You...
His first instruction would be to locate & drink the biggest can of beer I have seen in my life :-)
I always take a picture of something before I start disassembly so I can put it back exactly the same. Thanks
This is crazy. I've never done this before in my life - always paid mechanics to do it. I have been following these instructions, and I actually found that the last mechanic who worked on it had the fuel lines routed incorrectly, causing a kink in the longer fuel line. Not only did I learn how to do this, but I was able to fix another problem.
Right on Buddy...
To know what you're talking about and that helps me out a lot
You're the best
You are always so helpful! I find myself looking to you every spring for this or that and you never disappoint. You are much appreciated, thank you once again for a well-put-together, informative, right-to-the-point video!
Thank you so much!
Steve's the best. Thanks for all these great videos buddy!
Glad you like them!
Thank you, Steve. Your videos have been a *big* help to me. I have learned, and applied, much. I like the way you explain things and include tips as you go. Informative and humorous without being condescending. There are others I've learned from on RUclips, but yours have been the most consistent, most on-track/on-topic, and best illustrated.
You're Welcome...and Thank You...
Hi! Steve i have owned mine for 23 years only one spark plug and exhaust screen cleaning love it
Good to hear
That’s what you get for owning a stihl!
very good job! simple for me to understand. great camera work too.
Awesome, thank you!
this is the most clear and concise vid I have ever watched
WOW! Thank You...
Even though I have a different model of Stihl, as always, I have learned something new. I love the way you always repeat important facts to remember and visually show the part numbers giving me the time to pause the video and write them down in my "Steve's Small Engine Saloon" note book. Thanks again!
You're Welcome...
Steve, thanks so much for the video. As a bloke who is fairly useless on the tools, I really appreciated the simple steps and clear camera shots.
You're Welcome...
Brother rank you for all you do. You DONT make me feel stupid like 5he chain saw guys do when I go in…
Steve is like the Rainman when it comes to part numbers. Love all your videos Steve. Keep up the great work and thank you.
Wow, thanks!
Cheers brother best video on RUclips .thanks again
You're Welcome...
you explain step-by-step in a manner very informative, especially the kind of tools, including the size, needed to complete the job
I hope you like that?
Great video! Clear, detailed and helpful with minimal fluff. Thank you!
You're Welcome...
The way I replaced the fuel filter was that I pulled the tank. You have to pull the pull cord assembly, and undo a couple of screws and the two fuel lines if you don't want mess with pulling the carb. Thank you for posting this video you are awesome every time I watch a video of yours I learn something!
Steve, Just completed the “secret grease hole” maintenance on my new Stihl weed wacker. Thanks for all you do to help share your wealth of knowledge!!
You're Welcome...
I really enjoy doing stuff myself saving time and money and I enjoy having a beer while I do it this guy is awesome!
Right on Kenny....
Really enjoy your endless knowledge of mechanical detail and complete wisdom.
Learned alot of tricks and tips. Thankyou Steve. You are a chief.
Thanks 👍
These videos show just how good and informative professional people are when they know exactly what they are doing.
Thank You...
I tuned many carbs and this one was the first to piss me off till this video....never give up keep trying you will succeed.
This is really a nerve settling video - ie get the nervousness out of me. Beautifully explained. Thank you so much, sir. God Bless
You are very welcome
Im in Australia.I have a Stihl FS 85 thats been sitting in the shed for a few years.I had a spare new carbie for it.Put it on yesterday and couldn't get the screw adjustments right. Watched your video and now it runs great. Thanks for your help.
You're Welcome...
This was excellent! I got the parts this morning (plus a primer bulb) and did the tune up just as you showed. It went very smoothly. It now runs like a champ. Your comments got me over the tight spots to watch out for. NO FRUSTRATION, NO UNNECESSARY PARTS REMOVED, THE RIGHT TOOLS, JUST SMOOTH SAILING!!! Excellent video, perfect close-ups for the details. I have to see what you have to help me now tune up the chain saw.
Right on Ed...
Either you’ve invented and built a badass weed-eater “car wash”, or your area has the kindest grass ever, but my Stihl hasn’t look half as clean since after it’s first trim and I hose mine down with a quick brush and rag, after each use. It still looks and acts as if you put a couple handfuls of grass clippings into a gallon of superglue and painted the whole trimmer.
Being serious tho, your videos have been a ton of help a ton of times. Tks Pal!
Great video, very straightforward and easy to follow. Only one thing to add, remove the spark arrestor, I let mine soak for an hour in carb cleaner then blew it out with compressed air, dont forget your safety gear. Thanks again!
Thanks so much! I’ve never done something like this before, but your instructions were superb and I completed the change of all parts with no problems. Probably saved myself a couple hundred dollars by not getting a mechanic to do it. You’re a legend.
You're Welcome...and Thank You...
Great vid Steve. I’ve been re-watching your vids as I’m putting up my equipment for winter. Thanks for the help.
You're Welcome...
Just watched this video and did a tune-up on my Stihl weedeater. It runs great. Thanks so much for this info.
Great to hear!
Thanks so much for this! It was extremely detailed and clear. You anticipated what people might be confused about answered it right away.
You're very welcome!
I have had an FS-45 Stihl Trimmer since 2001. Just did my first tune up on it in 2021. Just the plug and air filter didn't change the fuel filter. The main thing I do is make sure it is totally out of gas for winter storage. Run it until all gas is out of the carb. I use the stihl oil for the gas mix too. It is a great machine.
Keep fuel tank full…😉
Amazing! Thank you for including the part numbers, and alternate PNs even! Good stuff! Gonna get my dad's FS90R running like new.
Have fun!
Steve is the God of small engines and when he passes on to heaven, all the gasoline engines in America will quit running! Keep up the great work Sir!
Thank You...
Great video! Did this on my FS45...great camera work and excellent explanation of the process! Thanks...and of course cheers!!
Thank You...and You're Welcome...
I can't thank Steve enough for his video
You're Welcome...
Hey, I was doing a tune up on my fs 38 watching this video. I was never very good with small engines. Watching your videos for the last 3 years has helped me save money. I found a 15 year old Poulan p3314 chainsaw in the garbage. After asking the home if I could have it I took it home, bought a new carb for $50 installed it with a plug and filter and it runs great. $300 saved. It's a great little back up when I am out using my Husqvarna 455.
Nice work!
Thank you Steve. You make things so simple.
You are very welcome
This video made me have to try one more time and successfully got it right ,i realy like the high setting first ....worked like a charm i love RUclips....amazing job , keep on Wrenching bud.4:20 all the way.....
Local shop wanted 150 in labor to replace carb only. Much appreciated !
Glad to help
Awesome video! I want this man for a neighbor! Also sir want to Thank You for posting this video for us way less mechanically minded folks!!!
Thank You...
Great video. Thank you for showing me how to fix the throttle cable. God bless you.
Thank You...
Bought my Stihl trimmer 12 years ago. Embarrassed to say I never tuned it up but didn't use it that much ( I had a kid doing the yard for several years). It was running bad. Would die if I gave it too much gas or if I turned it at any angle. Watched your video. Your close-in camera work was very well done and helpful. Did the tuneup. Also bought new gas and oil. Now it runs great. Thanks for the help!
Right on Mike...
Thanks Steve. You just saved me money. Also very good detailed videos. Your closeups are great.
Glad you like them!
What a great comprehensive video. Thanks!!!!
Thank You...and You're Welcome...
You helped me clean the machine by myself .
your video is very good.
Obrigada
Thank You...
Hum cool stuff this. Stihl relevant after so many years cause I own a Stihl fs38. As to pulling and replacing the fuel filter via the tank inlet, it can be done. I did it by bending a loop in the end of a piece of soft wire and curving the wire to fit the contour of the tank. I snagged the filter and carefully pulled it out the top of the tank and grabbed the fuel line just behind the filter, popped off the ole filter, inserted the new one, and let the filter and line settle back into place. Surprisingly enough the rubber line is supple enough to stretch.
You're my hero Stever. I could not get my Stihl FS 45 to work after spending hours on it. I got the $13 tune-up kit from Amazon and then spent 45 minutes replacing the spark plug, fuel line, fuel filter, air filter, and carburetor (in between taking sips from my 24 oz MGD). Started up on the 3rd try. Many thanks.
You're Welcome...
Well explained ..I am so enjoying this ..From Australia
Thanks mate!
Awesome video! Fixed up and didn’t pay a mechanic! Thanks Steve!
Nice work!
Excellent video Steve. Great camera work. One of the best utube videos I've seen. Thank you!
You're Welcome...
I had a bud-lite handy. Thank you very much. Your camera work is very good, especially on the fuel tank work.
You're Welcome...and Thank You...
It's a good idea to clean the spark arrestor screen too. If it gets clogged with carbon your weed wacker won't run properly. I take it off and burn the carbon off with a torch. Great videos, I love your channel - very informative and saves me $$. Thanks!
Hell yeah Steve. Took less than half a beer, not only did you save me a couple bucks, you taught me alot.
Right on...
You just saved me $80 had I taken my FS38 in to the shop. Very nice video editing. Thanks
You're Welcome...
Great video! Worked perfectly and couldn’t have done it without you. I have all Stihl power equipment and will be back for help!
Great to hear!
I’ve been watching you for a while now and it was driving me nuts trying think who it is that you sound like. It finally came to me. Jesse Ventura!!!!
Love him...
Wow really great video, very clear and good shots of what you are doing...thank you!
You're Welcome...
This helps a lot I just got assigned a weed eater at my landscaping job caues I’m good at useing one and I’m learning on my off days to maintain it and keep it running since it’s brand spanking new I like to make sure it last me years to come.
Just winterized my trimmer and mowers, and will definitely do this come Spring time...or maybe before! Thanks.
Good luck! Happy Holidays...
ONCE AGAIN ~ Mr Steve = YOU Have Guided My Uneducated ASS Twords The LIGHT OF WEEDEATER BLISS !
I'v got a FS 50 C & Iv been Wondering HOW IN THE HELL To Adjust The Dam Throttle Cable (Literally 1/2 Of The Throttle Is Free Play Rite Now) - And It Makes Me Sick !
I Do My Best To Keep My 7 Weedeaters AS CLOSE TO BRAND NEW Condition & Working Order As I Possibly Can, but The Throttle On My Stihl Had Me Nervous, Iv never tore into That machine before .... I know the machine YOU just worked on isn't a FS 50 C, but from what I just watched You Do = I'll be able to figure the rest out by Myself.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEO SIR !
YOU Are A HUGE HELP To Myself And Every Other Weekend Weedeater Worrior !
. . . I don't know what it is about Weedeaters ~ But I CAN'T Get Enough Of Um !

Excellent video Sir. I appreciate it.
Thank You...
Good job teaching us problem solving. You are good teacher.
Thank You...
My uncle gave me a not running Stihl weed eater in 2021. It has sat under the shed ever since. After watching your video last night this morning I pulled the weed eater out and went to work on the carburetor under the guidance of "your spoken words". And I got a pleasant surprise that I wasn't expecting. That weed eater fired off on the 5 pull, and it sat there an idle its ass off until I turned it off..
Thanks Man for being articulate enough to make me pay attention.
Excellent, clear & precise narrative, thank you.
Excellent instructions, much appreciated! Greetings from Melbourne, Australia!
Thanks Mate!
Great video, I did all of this today with the help of this. Thanks man.
Glad it helped
I just repaired a failed Stihl FS40 string trimmer. Used some of your tips really helped. Had to replace muffler and spark arrestor. Did full tuneup and carb adjustment. 6 yr old unit runs like new. Thanks Steve!😀
Great to hear!
Which muffler did you get? I'm trying to figure out difference b/t KAT muffler and other type with screw out spark arrestor.
Mr.Mechanic. That was a cool video. A lot of education and part numbers provided. Cheers from Canada
Thank You...
Very good video good camera work keep up the good work
Thank You...
Hay Steve, You Are the MAN! My Stihl fs45 has always run great, I thought, until I went through all the steps you’ve explained in such perfect detail Only an drunk drunk couldn’t understand 🤪. Now my wacker runs even better than right outta the box 10 years or so ago. Last spring it started in 5-6 pulls with Last years gas in it. Of course I always add Sta-Bil in 93 oct in al my Stihl equipment. ThankYou for helping us All out! Oh yeah, I loved your reaction to the Honey Brown beer in another of your videos😂

This 'Thumb's up is for You' ...Needed this info for this Fall. Best to You and Yours.
Thank You...
Excellent Camera work!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Picked up a service kit for my STIHL FS45 weed eater and followed this video. Very thorough - Steve's a master. Need I say more?
Awesome Jimmy! Thank You...
Another video gem! Gonna save me hundreds! Thank you!
Happy to help!
Again, another entertains video, thanks. One small thing to add, when a new spark plug is installed always check the gap at the electrode. I have had new plugs where the gap has been closed up. I know you would automatically check this when you take the plug from the box but your followers may over look it. Cheers
Great point!
Perfect video for my trimmer!
Thank you so much!
You're so welcome!
oh yes - this is the right channel for me
