  • This is the finale of a 3-part series where I reverse engineer CAN BUS data on my OEM Audi R8/Huracan powertrain for display on my MoTeC C127 dash. In this video, I show how to import the custom DBC file I created in part-2 (linked below) into the MoTeC Dash Manager software. I then use MoTeC Display Creator to create custom dash widgets reporting on the OEM CAN BUS data. This video is longer than I intended and as a result, the final pay-off will come in the next one. I hope you enjoy!
    If you missed Part-1 or Part-2, both are linked below for your convenience. I recommend you watch both before this one as they all tie together.

    Pricey display but I have to say the look and customization options are great and easily justified in a higher budget build. I wonder what the more affordable displays offer in terms of customization. Great video. Thank you.

      ecumaster has an awesome option as well, display design is flexible much like display creator, all features enabled and no additional features behind a paywall.
      a little bit more flexible with more memory allocation to tables and user conditions than motec also.
      I still prefer the C12# lineup over the ecumaster ADU, but any applications that meet the criteria for use and are budget constrained I'll refer to it

      I'm pretty sure you could save a lot of money by getting a very cheap diagnostic tool and have it feed its information into a tablet . An Asus tablet would be higher quality than a Apple device . And a lot better price than anything that Apple sells .

    • @papapetad
      @papapetad 7 месяцев назад

      @@Shadowband72 Ah yes, that is also an option. There are probably a lot of apps that can use the PID's to setup a custom display and overall less limitations for most applications (not taking into account CANbus decoding/communication to other modules that require it etc...). As far as quality between asus and apple, not sure. Apple computers and phones seem to last a lot longer than the rest overall but for this specific application, there has to be much more flexibility in using an android device, especially on the software side with app availability, not even taking into account the cost of the unit.

    Hello .. Thank you for the good information on Display Creator. This was very helpful and we managed to get things working after watching this. I would like to see more on how you actually setup the spash startup screen if you have time . Thanks again.

      @@ElliotCharles-k8e Happy to hear it helped you! I’ll do a ‘short’ on how to setup the startup splash screen with Display Creator. It will amaze you how easy it is once you see the config. 👍

    hoooooly dooly. you just blew my mind with the font sets. i just spent months recreating an r32GTR oem dash cluster on a c1212. i spent so many hours trying to figure out how other designers were getting crisp icons with .jpgs.....
    THE ICONS ARE A FONT. omg i have to go back and redo them. thankyou

      this makes a lot of sense, (as a programmer) fonts are used for image icons in a number of applications. but might not be such a common thing if you dont do it every day.

    • @joehobo00
      @joehobo00 7 месяцев назад +3

      JPG is really only good for compressing photos. The crisp scaling is because the icons are vector, opposed to raster. Look into making SVG files, (scalable vector graphic)

    i would make an educated guess that the font icon set actually uses SVG's in the background, so in theory you can make the icons/font sizes as large as you want. since its a vector it will always look great.

    This was the video, after which I knew, if I wanted to follow on like Dan and custom set up my dash, I would need to pay some. You just can’t be an expert at everything. Dan’s gift set if way beyond anything I would want to achieve. Or could achieve, I have no idea what he does for a living, but my guess is it involves computers coding and other black arts.

    • @DanDulac

      There are two tanks in the car, bridged with a -6AN line. I have a float level sensor in each tank. I then hooked them each to their own voltage divider to convert resistant to voltage. I then hook the two voltage signals to analog inputs on the dash and for left and right tanks. I could have probably been fine with one level sender in the right tank where the fuel pump lives. But I want to see level in both tanks. 👍
