Yes indeed. Forging new ground with this powertrain ‘swap’ requires a lot of research and learning. I knew this going into it but the payoff of figuring out each step is VERY rewarding. The journey has been very fun for me! 👍
Why the hell do you not have hundreds of thousands of subscribers or viewers!? Yours is up there as one of the best automotive DIY channels I have ever seen. Yes, even offline. I always look forward to your videos and I love that you do take advice from your viewers. I cannot wait to see this beast on the road.
I know very little about these mechatronic units other then the horror stories I’ve read online about how finicky they can be - seems like if you look at them funny they may need to be replaced. Kudos to you and your brass balls.
Damon at Daily Driven Exotics is running the HTG setup in his EVO2 street Huracan (w/sequential shifter) and looks to be running great so far. And he beats the snot out of his cars. 🤣. I’m not going to modify anything that can’t be undone so worst case, I’ll have to revert to plan-b or c if the HTG setup doesn’t work out. But I have high hopes it will work great. (Yes, I’m an eternal optimist lol).
After watching and actually understanding everything to the t up until I found out after the last part I found out I cannot continue as I cannot afford the controller sooo no choice now but to go manual now. Everything is toooooooooo expensive here so thanks though was extremely helpful.
I know I am 3 months late here, but I really recommend mounting these sensitive pressure sensor remotely (run a line from the galley plug to the sensor which is mounted to the chassis). I have seen too many of these sensors fail because of engine vibration.
Good luck with HTG, mixed reviews on their stuff. If it works, definitely the best option. You can do a lot of things with that trans that the OEM locked up, once you unlock it. Love the dash!
Yes, I’ve read mixed reviews. But in my experience so far, meticulous attention to detail, precise soldering techniques and wiring is critical for trouble free install, operation and tuning. This isn’t something that a novice/casual tinkerer should undertake-a recipe for troubles! I’m looking forward to getting first hand experience and I’ll share it every step of the way!
@@DanDulac Totally agree! Been helping a friend with installing one on a DSG DQ250, had already to undo all the work HTG did on the TCM and redo all the soldering... cold solder joints everywhere... Support is also questionable...
Was it only the parking brake that was missing to get the TCU to work or did you find something else? I hope you have good luck with the HTG. Many guys here in Sweden had a lot of problems with their HTG:s and changing to other brand that is more solid. But i only think it is HTG that can handle DL800.
Hi Peter! I wired in the electronic parking break controller, CAN gateway and parking brake servos as a temporary measure to see if I could trick the system. But via VCDS, there were so many other codes and CAN communication dependencies with other OEM subsystems systems that are not in my car-couldn’t get it to work. When engaging the parking brake button, I immediately got a EPB error and nothing I did in VCDS would clear it. It was trying to communicate with the ABS controller too. Anyway, I’m really hoping the HTG setup works for the DL800. DDE has it working well on their street EVO Huracan. I’m hoping that since the engine/trans is a paired system with OEM ECMs and not a mix/match swap with after market ECMs, it works better than when others try to mate other transmissions to different engines/ECUs. I’m curious what your plans are for your latest project-what computer electronics are you planning to use for your v10 drivetrain?
Some things once its tuned, I'd like to see, 0-60 mph in seconds, plus 1/4 mile in seconds. Then other data I am interested in, Miles per gallon at 62 mph, and at say 30 mph ..Then brake tests.. 100 mph to zero fully stopped recorded in yards and seconds. Then finally ... the real beast of a test... O to 100 mph and back to zero, recorded in yard sand seconds........ Over to you Mr Dan Dulac. Finally - Magnificent video editing, very very professional ... this is so enjoyable
YES!! That’s definitely in my plans. 😁. l’m excited to get launch control setup on the HTG GCU too. I didn’t mention it on the video but I did manage to find realtime fuel consumption in Liters/hour in the OEM ECU. I added this metric to my dash telemetry. For instance, at warm idle it burns ~2 Liters per hour. 😁
You seem to have a knack for everything electronic and electrical. For oil pressure I would personally prefer a oil style pressure gauge to avoid computers and black boxes.
It’s crazy that this powertrain only has a pressure ‘switch’ from the factory. I guess they’re not concerned about monitoring oil pressure in realtime. I had to fix that!
It’ll be nice if you can give us a nice seminar on setup and how to use HTG. I have an Mitsu evo with dq500 gen1 trans which it’s the same tcu as yours. I already wired it up with the HTG still a progress and not running yet. I’m running on motec m150 as well
I’ll definitely do that. I’m running OEM ECUs so I’m super curious how this will go. But I’m determined to make it work! Any particular hurdles you’re trying to overcome with your HTG setup?
@@DanDulac their customer support is not there. And they don’t have any manuals. So you just have to learn. We also hava an evo x DCT470 transmission that we have not got to work. I’ve done the R&D on it and had to fix their wiring. On mine, I built my own TCM harness for my dq500. Hopefully I’ll get mine running soon.
@@DanDulac just want to learn complete setup, can interface, valve testing, etc. My personal car I’m running. M150 with prospeed prodrag package HTG GCU ECUmaster PDM16 EcuMaster ADU7 but might change that as customs layouts like yours are not doable and I would love to keep original car mileage and can’t do with that and motec dash is out of my budget atm. I want a 7 or 10” dash
I have moded my DL800 and sent HTG GCU the mech! I got it sent back to me but now HTG is a dead end.. I have to find a new mech and go with CANTCU apparently is almost operating! I've heard you're working with them too. 🤞
@@Syncrogreg Hi! Yep, I’m working with Kenneth at CANformance with CANTCU. We are close but I’m working getting the right software installed on TCU-1 (mech) to eliminate a persistent fault code, before we proceed with CANTCU integration. I hope to have this fixed in the next week or two. Then we can continue tweaking CANTCU code to make the trans happy and fully functional. Thanks for reaching out!!
@@Syncrogreg And since you need a new mech, make sure you order it with the proper software version (exact replacement part number from your old mech). The ECM/TCM is *very* finicky about this and the TCM software must match what the ECM expects to see.
Nope, not at all. But the outcome will be worth it. 💪. Yes, I’m very happy with the dash setup! And the best part: when I get board of the layout(s), the only limit is my creativity.
The RUclips algorithm can be your best friend or worst enemy. 🤷♂️ But I’m having a blast and appreciate all my subs who share the same passion and enjoyment. It’s all good. 👍
You did the biggest mistake on the controller mate... Please do your research, so many problems and they don't have anything working as they promised. One more thing they are not capable at the moment to flash there firmware because of legal issues inside there company. Dont waste your time with them. Don't know if Maxx can run that transmission but if they can it's your best option 💪🏽
Dan is the type of guy you want as a friend if you’ve got your own project!
Yes yes yes! This channel is the only one that gets me as excited as Tavarish's P1 videos! The ultima is such an awesome build! 😊😊
I enjoy your videos, your willingness to jump in and learn new things is impressive. It's going to be a great car when complete.
Nice progress Dan, great job with the level of integration you are able to achieve with the Motec.
