Revlon just sent these to me and I LOVE it. I honestly would have never even tried it. So glad because I really love it. It shockingly covered all my gray. Super fast and easy! The only thing I didn't like was the strong ammonia scent.
I was sure the temporary color would be the problem color as it would not grab the grey. I really like the Revlon. I have used the Nice & Easy root touch up but is only one application and the Revlon provides multiple uses. Good to know and I will be looking for that box. Thanks for the video.
Have you ever considered stopping dyeing your hair? I dyed regularly for 30+ years due to societal pressures, and so last June I made the decision at 61 to stop altogether. Best decision and most liberating thing I've ever done. My hair is now healthy again.
I use the permanent Clairol Root Touch-up dye (that you mix) on my stubborn grey brow hairs, and it works better than the Kevin Murphy hair dye at my salon.
I'm so bummed about the Clairol one not covering gray.😢😭 I've been trying to figure out what to do since I'm allergic to permanent hair dye now. That one seemed like such a good solution because it doesn't contain PPD (the chemical most people are allergic to). At the moment I get highlights to try to hide the gray...they don't contain PPD but they also don't cover gray either. Back to the drawing board I guess, thanks for saving me the time and money of trying it! Great review!
Hi...watched your video...I really needed my roots done...was so nervous about doing it myself...after your review I went to drugstore and purchased the Revlon Root Erase in Light Brown...I have dark roots with heavily highlighted hair...followed the directions...left on for additional five minutes...rinsed...WOW...it came out fantastic. This stuff really, really works. Thank you very much...desperate times call for desperate measures...Ha Ha!
I wish I had watched this right away because I used the Clairol root touch up (the one you mix) a few days ago and it did absolutely nothing. Thank you for the review, I will definitely know which one next time. And it does help to see how you apply it. Hope you're having a great weekend. :)
So helpful - I would’ve chosen Clairol, just because I’m more familiar with their hair color products (although I’m a L’Oréal gal), but will definitely try Revlon for my roots!
Thank you for the advice. I selected the Revlon product based on your recommendation. I never have colored my hair so it was scary for me to do this. I have long hair. The results were fabulous. I am so amazed. You gave me the courage to try it. Thank you.
Angie, thank you so much for the review! 💖I've been using the REVLON Root Erase since I watched your review 3 years ago. It worked so very well until they discontinued it. 😭 Can you please advise if you found something comparable to it since it's not sold anymore? I'd be so thankful!! 🙏💐🌟
I agree with you about Clairol. Try Loreal Root Rescue next. I use the applicator only to apply it, then I message it in with my fingertips, gloves on. Thanks for all you do to help us.
Same here. Maybe hair-color products just work differently on different peoples' hair, as I would guess there are different variables such as diet, hair type and even water differences that could determine an outcome of these hair colors. I'm not sure about that, but it seems plausible. :c)
I believe it is because the Revlon was more permanent color than the Clairol product. That's why it had to be pumped into the cap and be mixed. The two different sides had to react, which made it a stronger and more permanent color. The Clairol product didn't have that, it was already prepared, so it was pretty much same as a color rinse or wash. It didn't have the chemical power behind it that the Revlon had. Created an extra step, sure, but that one extra step made all the difference in the results.
Oh shoot! I purchased the Clairol about a week ago because it looked so easy and I am trying to stretch my salon appts ... I have not opened it yet so maybe my drugstore will allow me to exchange! Thank you once again Angie ... Maybe for the millionth time!
Easier doesn’t always mean better. I’ve tried several different root- touch ups and they have never worked as good as the dye mix. Thank you for another great review!
Awesome review--I'm happy to see Revlon develop this niche. It feels so wasteful to purchase a full box of color merely to retouch my roots, and I'm happy to see this can be used multiple times! Thank you for adding this timely research to your channel.
Perfect timing for me after 2.5 months of lockdown in auckland New Zealand the greys definitely need to be TACKLED!! As always, Angie has the answer. Thanks for all your posts. Michelle.
I can confirm Angie's experience as mine was the same. I was so excited to try the Clairol product with the ease of the brush and no mixing. I even left it on for 15 minutes. Clairol, you need to rework your formula, it doesn't live up to it's promise. Thanks for another great video, Angie!
I just used Revlon and will be interested in how long it lasts. Frustration with Loreal and others has not only been greys not being covered but how easily they come back. I don't wash my hair daily and sometimes in 3 wks I see greys, never a month. Fingers crossed!
Thanks Angie. I just bought eSalon after you told us about it and took the plunge. I was shocked at how easy home hair color is and it looks beautiful. Didn’t quite cover all my grey. I told them and they are sending me something to help fix it. Thank you SO much. Your amazing. I love watching you ❤️
Hi Angie, loved your video. When you squeezed the Clairol tube it was dark, that usually means it has already oxidized and is no good anyway. The Revlon did come out nicely. I was impressed with that Revlon, I might try it. Have a great day.
This video came at the perfect time...went out and got the Revlon...so happy with the results...also loved that there was no bad smells, and under ten minutes! Thanks for sharing this info.
There is a Clairol root touch up that comes in a box- it works very well. I recently tried the gel formula and it was a huge disappointment. The results for the Clairol in the box is comparable to the Revlon one. I wasn’t able to locate the Revlon on at Target which is closest to me. Great video😊
Haven't checked out the Clairol ingredients but the Revlon does have ammonia which may make it color better. Looking for semi-permanent color without peroxide catalyst or ammonia if one exists.
Jennifer Simonetti-Bryan same! I’ve got the box and I’m terrified. I’ve only got one piece of grey in the front that needs covering but again....I’m terrified.
You really need developer to open the cuticle of white hair and deposit color. The Clairol product doesn't have a hope of covering white without that. Also since developer has a limited activation time the Revlon product makes much more sense than something mixed in the tube and losing its power every day. I say white hair because gray is just the cast that white and pigmented hairs give each other. If you look at those hairs, they are actually white.
Thank you!!! Will be looking for the Revlon Product. I've been using the other Root touch up kit from Clairol, but they give you so little product i need like 3 kits. Revlon looks like it will do the trick & cover my grays too. TY
Good morning Angie! This video is perfect for the hard times we're in right now! Thank you so much :) I hope you're well and are staying safe! Lots of love! xxx
I loved the Revlon so much but they seem to have discontinued it. I see it’s being sold at outrageous prices on eBay but Revlon doesn’t have it anymore. I’d love to hear if you’ve found anything comparable.
I tried the Revlon as per your recommendation and I am impressed! Thank you so much for doing this video. I am sending your video to all my friends. Thank you.
Oh this was really helpful. Those coloring boxes scare me and you made it look so easy. I'm 68, so my gray roots really show between salon visits and I can't stand it. Now I can go back to every 5 or 6 wks. instead of 4. Thanks again! Also love the look you're wearing, tutorial please?
I have used a Clairol root touch up product that came in a different container. I don’t know if this is repackaging or a different formula, but I suspect it’s just different in formula. The one I used covered my annoying gray roots pretty well and kept me looking ok for 2 or 3 weeks. I am impressed with the performance of that Revlon product.
I had the got the same disappointing results with the Clairol. I was going to give it another shot in case I did something wrong the first time. Thanks for saving me the trouble and time.
wow! i always use the clairol root touch up (permanent one) and have been so annoyed with the results lately. i kept wondering if i was buying expired products because it just wasn't covering the stubborn grays. i will try the revlon one and also their permanent one as well. thank you!
I’ve been using the Clairol Root Touch Up but don’t have enough grays to use the full package so I was measuring it into 3rds all by myself and saving the extra. I can’t wait to try the Revlon 3-use product. Thank you
Thank you, Angie, very helpful! Based on my searches, the permanent version of the Clairol (Nice 'N Easy Permanent Root Touch-Up Kit) seems to be the popular choice. Looking forward to the highlights video!
@@marthazajchowski5875 I've never used either, but just by looking at them, Revlon definitely has the superior design. I was just commenting on the Clairol temporary vs. permanent root touch-up - based on the reviews I saw online, nobody seems to like the brush one much.
Thanks for this video! I always have used the Clairol Root Touch-up that you mix and paint on. I’m going to buy the Revlon one based on your video. Not only did it work great for you, but the pump feature dispenses just the right amount. I would always have to guess the amount on the Clairol Root Touch-up, as I get 2-3 uses out of each box. My greys grow like yours, only on the top of my head, and a few at my temples. The medium brown looks perfect for you!
I was most surprised that the color matched so well! I have to do the other side of my head today! Been walking around with only half my grey covered for a week!! LOL! xo ~angie
I’m a complete hair colour virgin but rather than grey I’m now getting white coarse hairs along my part and underneath above my ears. The rest of my hair is dark brown and fine so I don’t want to rush and colour the whole thing darker as recommended by my stylist. Is there any temporary product you’ve tried that could fix those, starting to be too many to tweeze out and growing them still doesn’t seem to get them to lay flat and make friends with the brown strands especially a day or two after a shampoo.
I have been using the Clairol Nice 'N' Easy Root Touch Up (in between full head applications) and it works so well in 10 minutes. It is a quick, cheap, reliable, one-time use kit. I think the ones you are testing are multiple use? Can you let us know how many uses you get with the Revlon product?
I have used the Revlon product a couple of times and it worked great for me! Good coverage and no waste. I hadn’t yet seen the Clairol product and I’m glad now to know it isn’t worth trying.
Maybe I'll try the Revlon product. I just tried Loreal root rescue in medium brown. It covered grey pretty well, but it comes up reddish on me which so many hair dyes do..
Oh nooo, I wish I had waited for this. I bought a Clairol root touch up kit yesterday. Granted the one I bought works more like the Revlon one there and isn't the GEL you're using... so let's hope it works better. Eeek!
Have to say THANK YOU for this! I was pondering what to do about my 1-inch roots as I stood in the store---didn't feel like powdering my head with eyeshadow lol, so I looked you up and VOILA! I'm now home ready to go, putting my gloves on, and I'll be doing the REVLON process while I watch you! MAKES IT SO FUN!!
I think the Revlon is on your left side, our right. I think the brush will do a better job. I'm right! Yay. Thanks for doing this test, Angie. I'm getting the Revlon. xo~linda
The clariol was a total waste of time for me and I was really annoyed at wasting money and valuable time--not one piece of grey was covered. Will have to try the Revlon and hope they have my color.
Listen to Angie! I decided to give the Clairol a chance since I had already purchased it. I left it on for an additional 10 minutes for the stubborn grays as the instructions indicated. It did not take.. my grays stayed the same.
agreed with the results! have you used men's hair coloring? ( Just for Men brand, the cheapest ones ) Maybe because men's hair is very short it takes only 5 min to color but I use it for my roots, mostly on the outer hairs & less inside because I'm in a hurry to get into colored. But I don't recommend the watery coloring kit (original; uses color developer & base to mix but it's so watery, not foamy or thick that solution will easily splatter on you self & surroundings) but I think I used one before that wasn't watery like that one.
I’m so happy to hear revlon won!!! I just picked up 5, yes 5, of the boxes at my local grocery store because they were on clearance for $2! Can’t wait to try it out.
I was also so disappointed with the Clairol. I had been so excited about it and it was a bomb. I gave it extra time and it didn't touch a single gray hair. I looked exactly as gray after coloring as before. I do love their permanent root touch up though.
Not on topic at all but I know you like mineral sunscreen. If you haven’t already, you should try Innisfree blueberry watery sun cream! It’s very lightweight in texture, blends in instantly, and leaves no white cast!
I have been using the Revlon one for around 8 times now and I love it. I get 2 applications from one; but I do my whole head and my roots are mostly white. I color every 3 weeks and use the medium golden brown. The color does not fade on my fine hair and doesn't get dry or frizzy. I use a dab of a cream leave in conditioner after each shampoo. I use to use Clairol Perfect 10 which I also loved; but it is hard to find anymore.
I've used the Clairol Permanent Root touch up for years and love it but was curious about the new gel for quick emergency times. I know it is very hard for semi-perm to cover gray and your results proved that so I'll skip it now seeing your results-. Would you condsider testing the Revlon vs the Clairol perm root touch up kits for an apples to apples comparison?
Thanks so much for trying these! I’ve sworn by the traditional Clairol Root Touch~up for years, and was curious about this product since you mentioned it🤔
I guessed wrong! Definitely giving this Revlon product a try ♡
Revlon just sent these to me and I LOVE it. I honestly would have never even tried it. So glad because I really love it. It shockingly covered all my gray. Super fast and easy! The only thing I didn't like was the strong ammonia scent.
I had the same experience with Clairol but reapplied and left on longer with much much better results.
Another fearless experiment. Thanks for the due diligence on these products, Angie!
I used the Revlon one and loved it. I had grey hair. Thanks for the video. Very instructive.
I just came home with the clairol
and after watching this I quickly put
it back in the bag 🤦🏼♀️
I love love love those colors on you!!
Just did mine, natural blind by loreal bc I had on hand. Nice color, if you want strawberry blonde. Woops!!
I use the permanent Clairol Root Touch-up dye (that you mix) on my stubborn grey brow hairs, and it works better than the Kevin Murphy hair dye at my salon.
OMG - Kevin Murphy is my favorite! Now I have 3 inches grey root. What to do?
I'm so bummed about the Clairol one not covering gray.😢😭 I've been trying to figure out what to do since I'm allergic to permanent hair dye now. That one seemed like such a good solution because it doesn't contain PPD (the chemical most people are allergic to). At the moment I get highlights to try to hide the gray...they don't contain PPD but they also don't cover gray either. Back to the drawing board I guess, thanks for saving me the time and money of trying it! Great review!
Did you ever find something that works? I’ve become allergic to hair dye as well and looking for one that covers grays without sending me to ER 😂
I was hoping for the Clairol because I like no mess and easy, but when it's too good to be true, sometimes it's not. Will try the Revlon.

Hello
Did try out Revlon temporary color to roots.
Wow! It lasted after 5 shampoos!
Thanks for info!
Great review 👍👌
Can we please have an updated video. Revlon is no longer making this product.
I had great results with the Revlon. It was so easy and covered up the greys and kept them covered.
You're personable and thank you for sharing. That was actually smart of you to do the Clairol vs. Revlon on each side for comparison.
Can you do a hair demo and review on Clairol Nice and easy root touch up Verses Revlon root erase? ♥️
I wish I had watched this right away because I used the Clairol root touch up (the one you mix) a few days ago and it did absolutely nothing. Thank you for the review, I will definitely know which one next time. And it does help to see how you apply it. Hope you're having a great weekend. :)
Thank you such a timely review I cover my grays about every 3 weeks and this will make it so much easier!
So helpful - I would’ve chosen Clairol, just because I’m more familiar with their hair color products (although I’m a L’Oréal gal), but will definitely try Revlon for my roots!
Seriously you're my favourite youtuber, you make things so easy. Picking up the Revlon one. Thanks!
Thank you for the advice. I selected the Revlon product based on your recommendation. I never have colored my hair so it was scary for me to do this. I have long hair. The results were fabulous. I am so amazed. You gave me the courage to try it. Thank you.

Thank you. I've tried Revlon permanent and it didn't work as well as Clairol so I'm so surprised at these results. I will have to relook at Revlon.

Yay!!! I just got through skimming through these at wally world too many to choose from so gave up...perfect timing thank u💜
Clairol is best ? That’s my guess but I was wrong. I need to go get the Revlon.
I’m surprised !
Thanks Angie !
Easier doesn’t always mean better. I’ve tried several different root- touch ups and they have never worked as good as the dye mix. Thank you for another great review!
Jessica Allen I wonder why? I thought they are pretty much the same permanent formulas.
The Revlon is the firt one that I've tried that really is as good as the regular mix and at only 10 minutes.

Perfect timing for me after 2.5 months of lockdown in auckland New Zealand the greys definitely need to be TACKLED!! As always, Angie has the answer.
Thanks for all your posts. Michelle.
Hi, can I ask where you are buying the Revlon grey root colour from? I can't seem to find it online! Thanks.
I can confirm Angie's experience as mine was the same. I was so excited to try the Clairol product with the ease of the brush and no mixing. I even left it on for 15 minutes. Clairol, you need to rework your formula, it doesn't live up to it's promise. Thanks for another great video, Angie!
me too
Linda S same with me too. It didn’t wk at all.
Didn’t work on me either , a waste of money , left it on for double time .

Same here. Complete failure on Clairol. Throwing it away...
Ya, I used the Clairol and it did mine the same way. Will not be buying that again. Wish I had seen this first, lol lol Thank you.

Poor Clairol! Maybe it’s okay if someone has non grey roots? Great review thanks Angie.
I just got the revlon in light golden brown and it worked great. So easy. Thanks for sharing this! I have my new go to root cover up.
Wow ..thank you so much for that video ..I have always used Claireol root touch up .Will definitely try Revlon ..

Jennifer Simonetti-Bryan same! I’ve got the box and I’m terrified. I’ve only got one piece of grey in the front that needs covering but again....I’m terrified.
Can't wait to try this..especially when I'm coloring every 3-4 weeks. But reds are so hard to match!
Hello, hello. My first time viewing your CHANNEL
Thank you, so much for all your help.

I absolutely love when you film from your bathroom. You seem more at ease.. . and you're hilarious. I love the glove comparison. LOLOLOL
Thank you!!! I need to do this and appreciate the video results. ❤
The one already mixed I don't know how it would work? as a hairdresser, you have to throw out the used mixed dye
Wow, such a difference Angie.Looks awesome. Sending you sunshine from Oz xxx🌞🌞🌞
Wow! Great video. The results were night and day different.
I’m so happy to hear revlon won!!! I just picked up 5, yes 5, of the boxes at my local grocery store because they were on clearance for $2! Can’t wait to try it out.
Thanks Angie, I have been looking for a temporary root cover product. You made this so much easier for me. You’re the best!
I was also so disappointed with the Clairol. I had been so excited about it and it was a bomb. I gave it extra time and it didn't touch a single gray hair. I looked exactly as gray after coloring as before. I do love their permanent root touch up though.
I’m guessing the Revlon covered better as its permanent color. Great info!
What cream do you add to the conditioner?
You look so pretty here. Makeup is so nice.
The Clairol doesn't work at all
Thanks so much for trying these! I’ve sworn by the traditional Clairol Root Touch~up for years, and was curious about this product since you mentioned it🤔
Since Revlon has discontinued the wonderful product Root Erase--- WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND???? HELP!
