I always LOVED Melinda, but what made me love her even more was when the remaining Idol contestants were separated into two groups Presumed Losing and Presumed Winners. Ryan told Melinda to stand with the group she thought was Presumed Winners After looking at both groups, she sat down in the middle, implying that she was not taking sides. I smiled and clapped at her decision. Such a sweet decision and a sweet woman. Great singer too! :D
She is the best contestant to ever step foot on that stage. I like the complete silence from the judges after she was done singing. They were speechless. I bought her new CD yesterday - I like all kinds of music. I can honestly say it's one of the best cd's I have ever bought. I couldn't stop listening to it. I usually skip through each song just to get an idea of what I bought... I literally listened to every song one at a time. I can't remember the last time I did that. GREAT CD!

From this moment forward, she never disappointed as a sweet/kind person singing directly from her heart, with a range and authenticity that couldn't be beat! She definitely has a strong quality in carrying the beat, improvising into her own lovely twists-turns. I digged her style and was sorely disappointed that she was not crowned.

None of the contestants that year were close to being in her league as vocalist. She was just maybe too wholesome and too sweet and a little attitude may have done her good. Though she gets on today and does well for herself ... it's the rest of us who are cheated by not hearing her on the radio or performing in shows.
So true, Melinda was the absolute best that season, she completely should have won. I think Jordin's outgoing personality and Blake's looks and beatboxing honestly won them the show. Vocally, Melinda was the best.
