No, it is that for that week, they voted more for someone else. That is one big problem I had with this show though. In my mind, they should let all of the top 10 play all season long. For one thing, if anyone has their favorite gone, they stop watching--why loose TV audience? At the end of the term, THEN tabulate all the votes for all the performances and announce the top 3. What they did was make 9 LOSERS, and 1 winner. Great show during it's time, but why do that?
I stopped watching after they dropped her. She is a Queen and has a perfect voice, pitch and presence. Never watched again. I’ve seen the winner’s through out the years and none of them even come close to touching her voice.

I bought her new CD yesterday. I like all kinds of music, but I can honestly say her new CD is one of the best cd's I have every bought! She got robbed by AI in the worst way,... but watch, mark my word, she's going to be back BIGTIME!!
Heard this by Maria Muldaur in the 70's , and played it on guitar for years...then researched it for doing an open mic, and found many versions...This one is about the best...but with the short attention span of most tv viewers, it was cut too short.
When Melinda sings, Im convinced she can starch and iron 2 dozen shirts before I can count from 1 to 9, she can do her shopping faster than a lard melting in a pan, and more coz she's a woman.

she doesnt scream, she doesnt shout, she doesnt overdo the vibrato. She sings and then sings and then keeps singing. The shouters dont last the distance, the screamers soon sound hoarse. This woman is a singer.
