  • In this video I show the Eosin Panther BJJ belt in standard firmness. It is much more Firm compared to the “soft” version. The price is $59.95 for the belt and any added kanji or embroidery will add additional cost to the order. The “standard” and “soft” versions feel different and the belt does shrink (4%) with washing, so I highly recommend talking to their customer service representative named Mira. She will help you choose the right belt. If you mention my name (Max Lundeen) I believe you will get 10% off your order as part of their referral program. Check them out at www.eosinpanther.com
    When researching belts Eosin and Kataaro were consistently at the top of the list for high quality custom belts. I chose Eosin and have been very happy with the product. When researching I did not see many videos comparing soft and firm versions. Also I was unsure about the color. I decided to share this with you in order to help you make your decision.

    Congrats on your promotion! I'm actually in the exact same boat and was looking to splurge on a nice purple belt (Just got my fourth stripe on my blue). Have you compared it to Kataaro belts?

      Yes I have compared briefly. One of my friends just got his black belt and he went with the Kataaro modern flow black belt. That’s the only Kataaro in our gym. Both are of very similar quality and really hard to tell the difference besides color. The Eosin stitching is better, most notable at the very end corners. The reviews I read said Eosin was slightly better too. The Eosin purple blows away any other purple belt I have seen in my gym. Personally, I went with Eosin because they have been making belts much longer, price was better and their logo with the panther just looks rad! Beware though, they do shrink. Also, you have to use the special lock knot to keep the knot from unraveling during rolls. The standard firmness feels much more substantial than the soft. But the soft ties better and feels better rolling. Both versions are great, just depends on what you want personally. Let me know if you have more questions.

    I will post some knot pictures or will do a video on that soon (soft vs firm for comparison). I have the soft and the firm and both have shrank a little over 4% so far. That is with washing and drying on medium heat at least 10 times. My soft belt is size 5 (115") and was actually 116" when I first measured it. It shrank to 111" which is about 4.3% so far. My firm belt was a size 5.5 (118") and it is now 113" which is about 4.2%.

    Does the soft hang better when you first get it vs the firm? Like is the firm belt super stiff and need broke in?

      Yes the firm is super stiff and you have to do the lock knot tie method to keep it tied. It gets easier as it breaks in. The soft is still pretty stiff but way nicer to tie right away as it breaks in pretty quick.

    How do you like the belt so far? Do you like the standard or soft better?

      Both are great. I do like the firm better though. It is amazing custom made belt that exudes quality, and the kanji is a great touch. It is much heavier and robust than the soft. The only thing I don’t like is that the knot comes undone when rolling. I hope that improves as it continues to break in. The soft is great too. It stays tied and the knot is smaller.

    How do you like the Firm vs Soft?

    • @MLundee1
      @MLundee1  5 лет назад

      That’s a great question. Both are high quality and are great. The firm is thick and feels so much more substantial around the waist than the soft. The firm makes a big knot and you have to do the special lock knot so it doesn’t unravel while rolling. I’m used to it now and love it. With time it should soften up more and break in. It is noticeably heavier. The soft belt feels nice around the waist, very light. Felt like a blade at first. With washing it shrunk and became thicker. The knot is smaller on the soft belt. It is much lighter and great to roll in too, and doesn’t come untied as easy.

    How much did this belt shrink?

    • @MLundee1
      @MLundee1  2 года назад +1

      It shrank just a little over 4% which was about 5 inches. I wash and dry it frequently. Call customer service and talk with Mira, she’s great at answering questions. Tell her Max Lundeen referred you and she will take 10% off the price!

    How do they compare after a year?

    • @MLundee1
      @MLundee1  4 года назад

      I really like them both. The firm faded color more. The firm just feels robust and good around the waist. The trade off is a bigger knot that doesn’t stay tied as well. But the soft is really great too and very comfortable to roll in. I’ll make an update video at some point.
