      • The Judo throw is called O-goshi. It seemed at first like a Tai-otoshi because of the leg. However, since the leg didn't act/function as a barrier (didn't unbalance or block the opponent's leg), I would consider it like an O-goshi since it was the arm and the hip the ones that caused the unbalance of the opponent.
      • Then, the collar choke applied from the mount is called Nami juji jime.
      • The collar choke that was applied from the back is called Okuri eri jime. (These 2 collar chokes have a different mechanic in the execution from one another. If we see them just as 'Collar chokes', then we get plenty of them, but each of the main ones have their own names in Japanese, and the rest would be varitions/variants or 'kuzures'.
      • The rear naked choke applied from the back is called Hadaka jime.
      • Finally some judo terminology:
      - The armbar is called Juji gatame (or long version: Ude-hishigi juji gatame).
      - The Triangule is called Sankaku jime. ('San' means '3', also Sankaku means Triangule. 'Jime' means 'Strangle' or 'Choke'. Thus, Sankaku jime means Triangule choke).
      - The Americana from the side is called Ude garami.
      - The Kimura from the closed guard or from the mount would be a Kuzure ude garami, since Kuzure means Variation.
😊 Thanks for the time stamps and also many thanks to VictoryMMA for the in depth and awesome exhibition for the blue test in BJJ.
I liked it and I always find it enlighting to share knowledge across disciplines.
Looking forward to finding videos of the transitions from blue to purple belt and from purple to brown belt since I am just starting in Jiu Jitsu and experimenting with all the new things and also with the similarities with other sports 😊

Well cause of work I can't dedicate so much time. My first gracie gym in the city I went only during the weekdays in Summers for 3 years, grabbed my blue belt and couldn't attend after that due to work getting more busy. About 2 years after I found a gym closer to me that I went to again on and off during the Summer only. Grabbed blue belt a lot sooner because I was a little more experienced, though I felt like I forgot everything. Again work constraints, then 3 years later I found one even closer with times that fit my now almost 10h/day schedule. Ended up being there for a year, though I again felt like I forgot everything and grabbed blue belt again. Been on a 2 year hiatus due to work (again), will try to attend the last gym I went to, but not sure if I should relinquish my blue belt this time.

The only reason I don't fully rely on shark tank rolls is because sometimes when the guy gets tired they tend to be open to injury and also they start doing the same moves that they are use to. The shark tank rolls only prove that they are tough or have good cardio. It doesn't show me they true knowledge or lack there of knowledge base. Doing a test let's me know their strengths and weaknesses in all areas of BJJ. But i appreciate your feedback.

Good evening Professor, This is Eddie from Atlanta again. I'm writing because I trained bjj at a small club from June 2023 to October 2023. Although the people were nice, they didn't have a structured curriculum. Well, since October 20, 2023, I have been training at a gracie barra Academy consistently for four months. This video confirmed I made the right decision because a lot of the techniques on Elijah's test I have been exposed to in their GB1 curriculum. I took notes on the video and created an outline of techniques I can work on at the academy and at home (I bought a grappling dummy). Well, I just wanted to tell you thank you to keep doing what you're doing. By the way, early on the same evening I wrote this message, I was awarded my second stripe on my white belt. Semper Fidelis and stay encouraged!

@@adnt1 I purchased an unstuffed grappling mma dummy on Amazon made by Jendila. Also, I bought a 20 pound box of poly fill to stuff it tight. I bought an extra large dummy. It cost $50.95. The 20 pound box of poly fill is $57.97. It took my about 2.5 hours to stuff it tight. I put an old gi on it with a white belt so it appears like a real training partner. Of course, you could spend north of $300.00 and buy a high end dummy like the smarty. But, to start out this works good. I think as I use this one out I may upgrade to the smarty. Now if you want to save time and frustration go ahead and invest in a filled dummy because stuffing it on your own can be a pain in the butt. Honestly, knowing what I know now I would spent the money and got a high end one like the smarty. Oh yeah, go ahead and make sure you have place at the house to put it away. Your girlfriend or wife don’t want to see that thing sitting out in the open staring at her all the time.

Aside from the ankle lock my son knows all of these techniques, he is 11 and a yellow/white belt. I thought it would be more extensive in the move set. My son knows DelaRiva, single leg x, berembolos, omoplattas, darce, bow and arrow, arm triangles, and a bunch more. So I'm assuming he has enough knowledge if he were old enough to be a blue belt. That's crazy!
Great video knowing that you are doing this with your son.

Your son is on the right path. It's my belief the reason kids aren't given adult belts even when they know a lot of the moves at that level is because professors want their maturity to catch up to their skill sets. There's one thing to know the move but there's another level understand the philosophy of each movement in attack. That comes with age and time. So tell your to Keep going. He is there!

ya boy is gunna be a killer blue belt, bro. yellow/white belt means he's already been training for 2-3 years? That's about how long it takes for an adult to get to blue belt (obviously depends on many factors).
