A quick note of appreciation for your awesome BJJ Blue Belt Test video! As a white belt practitioner, the insights and guidance you provided were incredibly informative and helpful. Your attention to detail and clear explanations made the learning process so much smoother. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and contributing to the BJJ community. Keep up the fantastic work!
Thank you for posting. Im two months into a martial sport that i really enjoy. When asked, my bjj gym could not provide a curriculum. Now, with this video and the time stamp breakdown provided by the other commentor of this video, I have an outline to follow so now my training sessions will have a focused purpose instead of me feeling like im going in there twice a week and being reactive and not proactive. Thank you. Eddie from Atlanta, Georgia. 52 year old white belt. Semper Fidelis!!

Thank you for this post. Fathers and Sons.... we need to see more of this online. New to BJJ-- helpful to see what the future holds and what the testing process might be like.
Very informative and nice to see a father-son training together :) I'm usually blank when I get into offensive positions so I might write down every submissions Elijah did so they come to mind while rolling. Thank you very much ! I totally lost it when the dog came into scene btw 🤣

Man, that is awesome you train together with your son. I love it! I've been training 6 years, hoping my daughter wants to start again. She did gi when she was 4 until about 5 before the pandemic hit but just hasn't gotten back into it.
This was excellent to watch. The lad knew his stuff like his father said couple of slight improvements but we could all be doing that with our games. I train with my son also and will send this video on to him for future reference. Many thanks.

Well cause of work I can't dedicate so much time. My first gracie gym in the city I went only during the weekdays in Summers for 3 years, grabbed my blue belt and couldn't attend after that due to work getting more busy. About 2 years after I found a gym closer to me that I went to again on and off during the Summer only. Grabbed blue belt a lot sooner because I was a little more experienced, though I felt like I forgot everything. Again work constraints, then 3 years later I found one even closer with times that fit my now almost 10h/day schedule. Ended up being there for a year, though I again felt like I forgot everything and grabbed blue belt again. Been on a 2 year hiatus due to work (again), will try to attend the last gym I went to, but not sure if I should relinquish my blue belt this time. @@bronsonstorm9959
Osss brother congrats on passing your test and graduating blue belt may the journey just begin. Today is the day I also graduated here in New Zealand to blue belt OSS
This is cool to see. I get to train with my 17 year old son as well and it's such an awesome thing for us bonding and having fun together as well as building skills. Best wishes from the UK. 👌
Proud of you both This is fantastic to see the curriculum This will greatly help me to eventually get to this test also Amazing how your son is so fast and flexible Especially with the take downs at end of video I’m glad you mentioned his wrestling experience. I believe this confirms to me I need to add and start as beginner to wrestling as well. It seems judo bjj and wrestling are equally challenging and complimentary This is exciting to see I will watch as a training video and send it to buddies Needless to say I subscribed Thank you best of luck Take care Cheers
My instructor made me do all that, plus 20 minutes of rolling and 10 minutes of bear crawls and bunch of other movements. I almost puked at the end. Congrats young man well deserved.
I just learned that I can circle my hands all the way through (from guard) to follow/assist their hands to the mat - I had been stopping my circle as soon as their frames disconnected from me, but this way looks a lot more aggressive and offensive.
Maybe I could earn a Blue Belt someday. Loved watching you guys. Beautiful to be a BJJ FAMILY ❤ I'm a white belt 6 months. Last night in Reflex and Development I did from guard, armbar, triangle and kimura, punch block series, shrimp escape, elbow escape, some advanced guard getups and weapons techniques. This is one of the most exciting and fun things I've ever done in my 71 years.🎉
This is cool to see where im at, we dont do stripes at my gym but ive been training for like 7 months and I feel like I would be close to passing this. Thanks for posting
Great assessment. Really comprehensive. Wish i had this when i got my blue belt. And the doggo is adorable. He would've been a good training partner for me lol
Man that was good to watch, to see dad and son in martial arts, im the same with my son (9) hes hitting BJJ, Muay Thai and wrestling and already a beast.
Our blue belt test was 30, 1 minute, consecutive rounds. No breaks, no water. However, I know all of the techniques/subs as well. My 10 year old and 6 year old boys also train. Father/Son training = good stuff.
The only reason I don't fully rely on shark tank rolls is because sometimes when the guy gets tired they tend to be open to injury and also they start doing the same moves that they are use to. The shark tank rolls only prove that they are tough or have good cardio. It doesn't show me they true knowledge or lack there of knowledge base. Doing a test let's me know their strengths and weaknesses in all areas of BJJ. But i appreciate your feedback.
Good evening Professor, This is Eddie from Atlanta again. I'm writing because I trained bjj at a small club from June 2023 to October 2023. Although the people were nice, they didn't have a structured curriculum. Well, since October 20, 2023, I have been training at a gracie barra Academy consistently for four months. This video confirmed I made the right decision because a lot of the techniques on Elijah's test I have been exposed to in their GB1 curriculum. I took notes on the video and created an outline of techniques I can work on at the academy and at home (I bought a grappling dummy). Well, I just wanted to tell you thank you to keep doing what you're doing. By the way, early on the same evening I wrote this message, I was awarded my second stripe on my white belt. Semper Fidelis and stay encouraged!
@@adnt1 I purchased an unstuffed grappling mma dummy on Amazon made by Jendila. Also, I bought a 20 pound box of poly fill to stuff it tight. I bought an extra large dummy. It cost $50.95. The 20 pound box of poly fill is $57.97. It took my about 2.5 hours to stuff it tight. I put an old gi on it with a white belt so it appears like a real training partner. Of course, you could spend north of $300.00 and buy a high end dummy like the smarty. But, to start out this works good. I think as I use this one out I may upgrade to the smarty. Now if you want to save time and frustration go ahead and invest in a filled dummy because stuffing it on your own can be a pain in the butt. Honestly, knowing what I know now I would spent the money and got a high end one like the smarty. Oh yeah, go ahead and make sure you have place at the house to put it away. Your girlfriend or wife don’t want to see that thing sitting out in the open staring at her all the time.
Really like this. I come from a gym that doesn't have tests like this, and tbh I wish they did. Sometimes it feels like im stumbling through techniques without learning anything lol
Aside from the ankle lock my son knows all of these techniques, he is 11 and a yellow/white belt. I thought it would be more extensive in the move set. My son knows DelaRiva, single leg x, berembolos, omoplattas, darce, bow and arrow, arm triangles, and a bunch more. So I'm assuming he has enough knowledge if he were old enough to be a blue belt. That's crazy! Great video knowing that you are doing this with your son.
Your son is on the right path. It's my belief the reason kids aren't given adult belts even when they know a lot of the moves at that level is because professors want their maturity to catch up to their skill sets. There's one thing to know the move but there's another level understand the philosophy of each movement in attack. That comes with age and time. So tell your to Keep going. He is there!
ya boy is gunna be a killer blue belt, bro. yellow/white belt means he's already been training for 2-3 years? That's about how long it takes for an adult to get to blue belt (obviously depends on many factors).
@@ColoradoVictoryMMAlove the father son bond. Wonderful to see. I’m 51. Started training 13 months ago. Heading towards blue. It’s a tough, humbling path. Get wrecked often by the young guns. I have 2 out of my 3 sons in it now. 8 and 6 years old (2 yo will start when he’s bigger). It’s excellent quality time we can bond over. You guys are a prime example.

This is cool to see. I get to train with my 17 year old son as well and it's such an awesome thing for us bonding and having fun together as well as building skills. Best wishes from the UK. 👌
Thank you brother
This is awesome! nothing better than seeing a father passing it down to his son....congratulations!
Thank you so much
well done, Elijah is on point.
Thank you
I don't normally comment on videos, but thank you for sharing this! Keep up the good work!
Thank you!
Gilbert! One of my favorites from TUF. Hard work!
Thank you, I truly appreciate your response and support!
Proud of you both
This is fantastic to see the curriculum
This will greatly help me to eventually get to this test also
Amazing how your son is so fast and flexible
Especially with the take downs at end of video
I’m glad you mentioned his wrestling experience. I believe this confirms to me I need to add and start as beginner to wrestling as well.
It seems judo bjj and wrestling are equally challenging and complimentary
This is exciting to see
I will watch as a training video and send it to buddies
Needless to say I subscribed
Thank you best of luck
Take care
Cheers
Thanks for the positive feedback and I agree with everything you said
I forgot to mention did the dog get his blue belt yet ? He looks like he was wanting to test
@@carlreynolds6047 Approved with honors I believe
Our gym should have this test.. great job and awesome job to your son, Congrats!
That's dope!
very good professor! good you make them do their GI to be promoted in Jiu Jitsu. congratulations
I 100% agree
Thats a proud Daddy right there. Congrats to him on his belt and you on your son. Good stuff.
Very proud, thank you!
I just learned what reaping is from this and I've already had a comp at white belt. Thanks!
You are welcome
My instructor made me do all that, plus 20 minutes of rolling and 10 minutes of bear crawls and bunch of other movements. I almost puked at the end. Congrats young man well deserved.
That's a good test!
This is a great idea. I wish they did this in my school
Thank you
I love seeing examination promotion. Great job 👏 👍
Glad you liked it!
Awesome. Very insightful as well
Glad you think so!
This is one of the most exciting and fun things I've ever done in my 71 years.🎉
Thank you for positive feedback!
This was great to see! Just a white belt been doing bjj for 6months!
Thank you
Congratulations. Beautiful Family
Thank you
Congrats and thanks for sharing
You are welcome
Great take downs! Well done!
Thanks for the positive feedback
This is cool to see where im at, we dont do stripes at my gym but ive been training for like 7 months and I feel like I would be close to passing this. Thanks for posting
I'm glad this helped
Great assessment. Really comprehensive. Wish i had this when i got my blue belt. And the doggo is adorable. He would've been a good training partner for me lol
Thank you
Good job on the three take down. Innovative
Thanks for the positive feedback
Man that was good to watch, to see dad and son in martial arts, im the same with my son (9) hes hitting BJJ, Muay Thai and wrestling and already a beast.
That's awesome, I hope to be watching your video soon!
Love it ! Thanks for this
You are welcome
That’s really awesome. I’m about to start training again as a white belt, so interesting I watched the whole thing haha.
Glad you enjoyed!
I’m a 3 stripe white belt really focusing to progress this video was great ❤
That’s awesome
Excellent video
Thank you!
Great video! Love the dog too!
Thank and Ali said thank you too!
This is a very good video for a white belt like me. Thank you!
You are welcome
what a great video i love it thanks guys
Thank you, we appreciate your positive words!
I am super happy that my video added some service to you. It really validates my efforts. Brother, train hard, train smart, train often!!!!
Hey Man, which grappling dummy you bought? I am looking for one and would appreciate your thoughts on it
@@adnt1 I bought one but then I never used it. lol
Woooo congrats to em!!
Than you
This is great. I am a white belt, video helps
Me out.
I'm glad it can help
Really like this. I come from a gym that doesn't have tests like this, and tbh I wish they did. Sometimes it feels like im stumbling through techniques without learning anything lol
Thank you for your positive feedback!
👏 congratulations
Thank you
"i love you son"...best line ever....EVER!!!! congrats guys!!!
Thanks brother
I enjoyed watching this
That’s awesome
Love it!👊🏽
Thank you
Aside from the ankle lock my son knows all of these techniques, he is 11 and a yellow/white belt.
Wow I don’t know all of these and I’m a blue belt adult :P
ya boy is gunna be a killer blue belt, bro. yellow/white belt means he's already been training for 2-3 years? That's about how long it takes for an adult to get to blue belt (obviously depends on many factors).
oh sheesh and that was 8 months ago. He might be a yellow belt now! :)
@@ifassnachtthis was over 2 years ago, almost 3 months.
This was super helpful
Thank you
Every man and his dog wandering round!! A very helpful vid for me as a proper beginner - is this a typical blue belt test? I really enjoyed it!
I don't know if it is typical. Each school promote differently.
Love it!
Thank you
Great video, subscribed!!
Thank you so much
Good job brother 💪
Big up
Great work

Thank you, I really appreciate you
Love this. Very cool
Thank you for your positive feedback
@@ColoradoVictoryMMAlove the father son bond. Wonderful to see. I’m 51. Started training 13 months ago. Heading towards blue. It’s a tough, humbling path. Get wrecked often by the young guns. I have 2 out of my 3 sons in it now. 8 and 6 years old (2 yo will start when he’s bigger). It’s excellent quality time we can bond over. You guys are a prime example.
@@miketrgthe best bonding experience you have with your kids!

@@ColoradoVictoryMMAI found Jiu Jitsu very late in life, it blew my mind and I never considered testing for a blue belt after one year. But studying this video illuminated things and made it all come together in my head. Received my blue belt yesterday. Thanks again!
@@12yearoldscotch congratulations on the blue belt
