UPDATE! Eosin Panther Deluxe Soft Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt
Eosin Panther Deluxe Soft Brown Belt Update
I finally got around to making an update video. I apologize for the poor quality video. Ask questions below in the comments. I really think the deluxe soft belt in 1.75” width is the way to go. Just make sure you add extra length to allow for shrinkage if you wash and dry your belt like I do. Mention my name Max Lundeen and you get 10% off. Here is the link for the Jiu-Jitsu deluxe colored belts, they are $69.99 and well worth it!

Eosin Panther Deluxe Soft Brown Belt Unboxing

I was promoted to BJJ Brown Belt on 11/08/21 and purchased an Eosin Panther deluxe soft brown belt with gold kanji. Since this video I have worn the belt for a few months and it has shrank 7 inches which is about 6%. I ordered mine at 118" and it has shrunk with many washes and dry cycles to 111". At some point I will do a test review and comparison review to a brown Kataaro and Flow belt in th...

    I’m looking to order a brown belt but am nervous to order a 125” belt hoping it’ll shrink to 118” if it doesn’t it’ll be really long. Is this the regular or deluxe model? Thanks

    • @MLundee1
      @MLundee1 8 месяцев назад

      I have the deluxe model. I also had a purple belt deluxe. Both shrunk about 6%, but I wash on eco warm and dry my belt with medium heat a couple times per week. It will take a little while but it will shrink about 6%. You should be about perfect at 125 to make 118 after shrinking. Also remember that because the knot is bigger with a deluxe belt you need slightly more length than a cheap belt with no core.

    • @MLundee1
      @MLundee1 2 года назад

      @@Daniel_Cooley I wash and dry my belts frequently and they shrank about 4.2% each. That’s about 5 inches or so on an A4 belt. I would figure out the length of the belt you ideally want and multiply by 1.042 and that should be the size you shoot for. The great thing about Eosin is their belts come in half size (about 3”) increments, so you can get pretty close to what you need. My soft belt came in at 116” and it shrank to about 111”. @MLundee1 3 года назад

      Richard, it will shrink about 4-5 percent. Mine was actually 4.3% with multiple wash and dry cycles. That’s over 5 inches on a belt, which could make the difference between being able to tie a knot or not! These thicker belts take a little more length to tie a know compared to cheaper soft belts. I’d measure your current belt and multiply by 1.04 or 1.05 and see what length you get...then order around that size.

    How do you like the Firm vs Soft?

    • @MLundee1
      @MLundee1 5 лет назад

      That’s a great question. Both are high quality and are great. The firm is thick and feels so much more substantial around the waist than the soft. The firm makes a big knot and you have to do the special lock knot so it doesn’t unravel while rolling. I’m used to it now and love it. With time it should soften up more and break in. It is noticeably heavier. The soft belt feels nice around the waist, very light. Felt like a blade at first. With washing it shrunk and became thicker. The knot is smaller on the soft belt. It is much lighter and great to roll in too, and doesn’t come untied as easy.

      Yes I have compared briefly. One of my friends just got his black belt and he went with the Kataaro modern flow black belt. That’s the only Kataaro in our gym. Both are of very similar quality and really hard to tell the difference besides color. The Eosin stitching is better, most notable at the very end corners. The reviews I read said Eosin was slightly better too. The Eosin purple blows away any other purple belt I have seen in my gym. Personally, I went with Eosin because they have been making belts much longer, price was better and their logo with the panther just looks rad! Beware though, they do shrink. Also, you have to use the special lock knot to keep the knot from unraveling during rolls. The standard firmness feels much more substantial than the soft. But the soft ties better and feels better rolling. Both versions are great, just depends on what you want personally. Let me know if you have more questions.
