I like the Indian for the lack of oil cooler...a real, completely air cooled engine...but I prefer the H-D softail mono-shock frame. H-D does do a pretty decent job of the oil cooler though..slim and between the rails = fairly inconspicuous.
The original chief was the daddy and had closed in fenders...I dont get why they used the name for what I can see is polaris looking back to victory for ideas....they should have kept both brands and used victory and the scout as performance machines and kept the big Indians as close so the original look and names ie: chief also the new chieftain and springfield along side with the touring victorys....basically big premium tourers and performance steel frame bikes
The Indian Chief, Chief Bobber, and Super Chief have the Thunderstroke 111ci. The 116ci version is in the Chief Dark Horse, the Bobber Dark Horse, and the Super Chief Limited.

Two bobbers; chief bobber 116ci and scout bobber 69ci, Indian haveno more bobbers than the ones i just writte to you.
@@wotankrieg You probably are not from the US. In the US they have the regular Chief with the 111 engine. I think in most other countries they only make the dark horse versions available
So they are, in fact, very different. The Chief’s getting the upper hand for my wants and needs. But sincerely, both great bikes.

Harley really needs to learn from Victory/Indian, less seals, less oil sumps, just streamline

I like the 3 hole design. My bike shifts so much better after draining the motor oil out of the trans and filling with, wait for it.....trans fluid.
