My opinion. This bike is what I think of when I think of a harley. I feel it's a beautiful bike. Been on one from the dealer, and it feels great, nice performance. Plus, it's not overdone aesthetically.
I have a 2021 Softail Standard and I love it! It's my first bike ever and the bike I learned to ride on. I added a passenger seat, pegs and back rest, thenI customized it a bit more to my liking on my own (not at a dealership). I love the Softail Standard's simple and understated design that lends itself to being customizable. It's fast! It's powerful and at 5'4" I can flat foot it. Next up, I'm going to change the seat so that I can go longer distances with a bit more comfort.
these are great bikes. i own the 114 street bob, came from fast 1L bikes (which i still love) but cruising on one of these is the best. Put $13 in the small tank, & she listens to all my problems for 3-4 hours, thats cheap theropy brothers. You can sell it later for a few thousand less, but you will regret it. Simple to work on, no clutter, a swing arm bag, and your session begins.
I love the basic simplicity. I am looking to get rid of our touring bike. Too big, too much stuff. This is what I am looking at. Back to basics of riding. Good review.

Which is one of the reasons I just traded my Kawasaki ninja 1000gx, for this bike...of course, I always liked Harley, after seeing Evel, the Michigan State Fair cow palace, back in 73', clear 15 pickups...yeah..
I have a 2000 Softail Standard and even as old as it is. It's a wonderful bike!! I love it!! Got lucky with it too, had tons of accessories and low mileage! Runs so smoothly and easy to handle ❤
First thing to be done when I do get my hands on mine is the exhaust is going to be changed to something louder. Second the wheels will be changed and that'll be about it for me.
You are so dead on about the “vibe” you can only get on a Harley Davidson!! I just started riding and bought an 883 as my first bike, and that Harley vibe is immediate and unmistakable! It’s just built into the bikes!

You missed the major reasons to have the fxst standard. They are 3 inches longer in wheelbase and taller front forks and are better than the road king, fatboy, and electra on the highway. Along with the longer length, the standard for each year will have as large an engine as the heritage and road king and electra. There’s a lot of factors that play into this which is why you paid $16.5k & one of the others people that commented below only paid $14k. Really ranges based on your states taxes & tons of other factors. Where do you live? Im guessing CALI! 😂
Can't remember the exact dollar amounts, they differ from model to model, but it's not much. Sales commission is flat $150 per bike. New or used. Most money is made in parts and merchandise.

Looks like an old Shadow 600. Put this side by side with the old Twin-cam or Evo Softail Standards and it will pale. Sure, it has a more capable motor but...looks wise, this is a step back. Looks unfinished.
That’s the point, it’s a blank slate for the rider to make into whatever they want! A friend of mine actually did a pretty sick chopper build on his 🙏🏼🔥
@@GenZBiker That's what Harley tries to make us think. Oh, it's a blank canvas, bla bla. I am sure it can be customized like hell but that did not stopped the old models from being customized. Also, some people prefer to keep it as stock as possible and just enjoy riding. Anyway, to each their own, I suppose.
The street bob is an extra 1k for basically the same thing simply with blacked out chrome. As someone who would put a new exhaust and bars on anyways, thats just a waste of 1k. To each is own though!
** 3 reasons to NOT buy a HD Softail Standard: 1) Terribly cramped riding position for tall(ish) riders. 2) Small fuel tank-for such a large displacement bike (piss-poor range between fill-ups). 3) Over-priced ( I hate when HD and it's shameless promoters, go on and on about how this model is a platform to build on!! WTF, by the time you "customize" it you're tickling the 20k mark. It doesn't even come with ABS standard (extra $750) How about making a "custom" bike right out of the factory that you don't have to start spending money on as soon as it's out the door??!! Ridiculous. Like PT Barnum said: "there's a sucker born every minute".... Remember 1 thing Gen Z's: HD is a multi-billion dollar marketing machine that knows how to over-hype it's name and make millions on unsuspecting youngsters who want to buy into the Harley mystique! @@NOWAY-jw3iq no. I'm 6' 7 and was completely fine on it but the seat sucks so find a better one asap!
Just get foward controls. I'm 6'1
6'3", 34" inseam. I ended up going with extended reach forward controls, but I have a bad knee that I can't keep bent for long distances.
I like you point.
I like this bike, looks like my sportster 72 on steroids. I would put forward controls, apes, pipes and lower it 👌🏽
I agree with you on forwards. I personally dont feel comfortable with the mids.
@@GenZBiker Yeah mids feel awkward to me, very nice bike though
I feel like the only reason it's covered in chrome is so people spend the money on the SB
Wooooow nice video brother 👍😁
Good luck for you channel bro
New friend here from Indonesia motovloger 🤘😎
I appreciate your support. Next collab with Harley will be on the Sport Glide!
@@GenZBiker ok brother 👍😁
@@GenZBiker reminds me a little bit of my 95 wide glide.
Needs custom exhaust
I think I would buy an older Harley for cash instead of finance this one.
I would have this one the low rider s and the Fatboy
I love mine!
Lol big difference between. Tons and Foot pounds Have a good day 👍
This bike reminds me of a suzuki with the terrible gen z designed tank. I like'em old school fat
You didn’t even show us the bike!
Check out my previous video on this bike when I picked it up from H-D corporate hq!
1 ton equals 2 thousand pounds lol NOW THAT'S A LOT Of TORQUE WOW
Nice bike.
Street bob is cooler looking. Same bike.
The street bob is an extra 1k for basically the same thing simply with blacked out chrome. As someone who would put a new exhaust and bars on anyways, thats just a waste of 1k. To each is own though!
Looks cooler is subjective
The roads were you live looks really bad.
How old are you?
23
Don't fall for it.
I am a man without a horse. 😢
i like,, 👍😊👍
It's there cheapest softail period
Looks like the brewers ballpark..
That’s correct!
This thing costs 20.000 euro in communist Netherlands, which equals 22.000 dollar. Thanks for the review!
