I’ve had my 997 for almost 5 years. It’s been an incredible car to own. Tons of rallies, track days, and more…never had any issues and it’s been so fun to meet other Porsche owners. Such a good car, TJ! Get one, you won’t regret it.
Can we all agree that Kanes car with the white center lock wheels looks absolutely insane. That's a great combo.
That .2 Turbo S is amazing spec. The carbon ceramic brakes, the carbon sport seats, red gauges/Sport Chrono, extended leather dash/doors...
i wouldnt call the 997 slept on but the fact that people buy anything other than that at the price point is wild
I wish I knew more about them sooner. I for sure would have bought this over my R35
no doubt. My coworker bought his turbo S 2 years ago for $40k. 6spd maybe around 35k miles. Car was super clean other than solvent pop from a botched paint job.

Having owned a 997.2 Carrera PDK for two years and a 997.1 Turbo Manual for five years, back to back , there’s no competition, it’s the Turbo Manual all day long.

The 997 is one of the best 911s Porsche made. Obviously the 991 is an amazing car but the 997 just hits different.

I remember those 997 carrera s' used to be like 20-30k 🤣 the market is so crazy. Literally no one wanted those. I used to see them for like 17.5k even in like 2018

Started a collection with my father around that time (end of ‘17 start of ‘18) with a 996 c2s in viola metallic, then a 2012 gts, and a few more 997.1, .2, and 996.1’s since then. Market went sooo crazy after the first two cars that we bought it was insane
You will not find a 997 camera S for $20k - $30k. They were never that cheap unless maybe salvaged. At one point, you could find 997.1 Camera Cab tiptronic (least desirable spec) with high miles in that price range.

Just curious here but isn’t it a better idea to import the BRG 350z to Japan and import the R34 here that way you HAVE the 350 out to drive around in Japan since you view it as an extra car you don’t need HERE therefore is useful over in Japan and finally have the r34 to drive around and upgrade in the states?? The R34 being an older and more valuable/rare care these days can decay and rust easier in Japan while a 350 is more readily available in both countries plus its newer and easier to maintain maybe

Tj, if youre getting a 997. Get one thats had the ims bearing done. Theyre notoriously known for ims bearing failure.
Both 997’s in this video are .2’s. 2009 and up are completely different engines. 08 and below, 997,987,996,986 have ims and oiling issues.

Just got my 991.1 GTS here in north county and the Miata effect is something I’ve described NA Porsches as having. It’s so good for all of the same reasons people love the lower powered cars but at a different tier

I have people asking me what my dream car is, which is a tough choice always (as I never have an answer). Tommy’s Porsche with the PDK is now my answer.

Been a subscriber since you were putting decals on miley in calvins garage. Youre spot on with the 997, I drove a .2 6 years ago and it is still the fastest car ive ever driven (even after 488s and 3rs). It literally feels like a video game. Turbo S are the quite literally the best thing on the street. the speed of a 765lt and the comfort of a Luxury Gt Car. with the reliability of a porsche.
Fk8 or FL5 CTR. Cheaper then the any of the Porsches and more eyes on the videos, because it is a more attainable vehicle for the average person.

997.2 turbo is a great investment as well as the best daily driver super car there is.

The fact the 997 Turbo S can't go into Sport Mode kinda kills the whole thing lol that's wack. Very different experience in that mode.

It's probably not your style but a 987.2 Cayman S might be what you need. I daily drive a 987.2 base PDK and it's amazing

its worth noting that 997.1 manuals are significantly cheaper than 997.2 manuals, hence the price at Ryan Friedman. I know in 2011, only 45 examples of 7.2 turbo manuals were produced. I think in total it's 150 cars in the US. That coupled with it being the last manual turbo makes it very collectable!
Yeah but it's not as good because the .1 still had the Metzger engine which goes to show prices are being driven less by enthusiasts and more by speculators.
@@jonmercer6868 Possibly. The Mezger has a rich history for sure, which also adds to its collectability and it is known to be quite reliable. The 7.2 DFI engine is also well known to be reliable and able to make great power out of a tune and bolt ons, just less historic racing history. I don't think it's fair to put them all on speculators, theyre doing the same for mezgers.
@@nahknahkthe best 997 Turbo is the 997 1.5, 997.1 Mezger engine with 997.2 interior, only 371 for the US Market, there's also 1 of 25 US Market 2009 997 1.5 GT2, same situation as the 09 997 1.5 Turbo, .1 engine with .2 interior
