its perfectly with code, and almost any school will put horn strobes in large areas and speaker strobes in other areas. sometimes the speakers will be too quiet for larger areas that may need reverb on the alarms.
Was this taken during the night? Also when the alarm first started I heard a horn strobe but didn’t know where it was coming from. Do you know where it was coming from?
This was taken during the night (if you do watch the full video, you’ll know). And there are horn strobes on the right side beyond the double doors at the beginning.
Usually there's a mixture of alarms whenever a building gets expanded or partially renovated. The area with speakers must be a newer area that was later added on.
Seems like a bigger system. I’m guessing it’s a 4100ES head end that is controlling an entire campus and has several annunciators tied to it (one per building). Need to ask though: does this system have miniplex transponders (basically cabinets that aren’t quite panels hooked up on the RUI circuit and is basically a step below a multiplex system)? Also, can I get some other specs on this system? Also, what system was original to this building that the 4100ES upgraded (I saw quickalert/early gen smartsync truealert horn strobe devices)?
@@golfking99 Cool. Lots of high schools in the school system I used to attend (including my old one) had 4100U systems, but they are being converted to EST. I managed to intercept one of these 4100U systems from a high school one zone over from my old high school before a panel/system swap to EST and got the parts after they were taken down. The panel came with everything standard on a 4100U plus an XPS, a 4120 card for the field house system, an additional IDNET 2+2 card, a mapnet legacy card for the old mapnet 2 devices from the original system before the 4100U (a 4020 that’s long gone), and oddly even a switch controller that had never had anything hooked up to it but was there regardless for whatever reason. If you go to the community tab on my channel, I snapped a couple of pictures just to tease and leak the system. I’m not gonna post a vid on it until I’m able to dump a new config on it and upgrade it to 12.08.02 to get rid of the troubles including a specific trouble (Pseudo Point P499) stating the firmware needs to be upgraded (hence why I’m upgrading to 12.08.02).
There’s 2 4100es systems networked together both formerly 4100Us. Looks like this system was originally a 2001 judging by the 2001 annunciator spotted at the beginning of the video.

I think the school has some sort of transportation device that makes the wheelchair easier to go down the stairs. But I don't remember at the same time, so don't quote me on that lol

Cool how he tested his own school's fire alarm system
It is but we have to make
Sure they all work because what if it was a real fire and they don’t go off if they makes sense

How did you get to do it at night.

02:21 The speaker on the Wheelock ET70WP speaker strobe isn't working
That was probably intentional. It looks like a newer alarm that was added on to comply with strobe coverage.
Why does the school have horn strobes in some areas but speaker strobes in the rest?
