I know Simplex has their issues with bad service but I really do just love them for whatever reason. Love the True Alerts lol. Simplex whoops are amongst my favorites
I had a fire drill on yesterday and it was Edwards 892B and SpeactrAlert Advance, EST Genesis and Another 892B downstairs and the alarm outside is a P2RK and the other offices do have a SpectrAlert Classic inside them.

Ever ask to pull it? My school lets me pull theirs for drills. Better yet I was told the school was going to do what they could to make sure I get the old panel and devices when they are removed from service. Their system is a 4100U truealert system similar to this system except without built in mass notification and it is tied to the PA system to sound a 60bpm tone during an alarm. For whatever reason they used an evax voice system which is weird considering the panel is literally built for mass notification.
Did you have your December or January drills? Not sure if they did them but they’re not posted. I’m not sure but I thought Ohio law requires monthly fire drills with limited exceptions.

Hey @GolfKing99. This is Tyler. Do you know if they’ll let you pull the alarm again anytime in the future? Also, I know schools do different procedures. But if I were you, I would remain quiet while you exit the building. In an actual situation, you would need to hear messages like if an exit is blocked or something. When I went to school, we were instructed to file out one by one, no talking at all until we were out of the building. Once we got outside teachers would take a head count and people could hang out and wait for the all clear. I know schools do different things but that’s just my opinion. Also why do they announce every single drill? You’re not going to know when a real fire happens. That makes announcing them ineffective as people may not treat it seriously because they know it’s not real. I know some students with disabilities benefit from advanced notice, but for them to announce to the whole school kind of eliminates the simulation of a fire. I know many people just prefer practicing the procedures, but making it more realistic might actually work better. Just some thoughts. Have a good weekend.
In a state where this many fire drills are required, unannounced drills run the risk of desensitizing students to fire alarms. If they know when an alarm is for a drill, any time the alarm goes off without advance notice, everyone knows for a fact that it is real. My school strictly does announced drills and I support it. Besides, it’s not the best thing for anyone’s day to just sound a fire alarm. Even though you might say it’s not realistic, a modern school could have a fire and no one leaves the building; Truth be told, everyone would be fine. Schools are incredibly fire safe and the practice of very frequent surprise drills is no longer necessary. We have fixed our school fire problem, now it’s time to focus and fixing threats of violence.

Sorry i dont agree with them announcjng a fire drill. Here in england i never tell anyone im doing a fire drill only security and sometimes i dont tell them. That is so i can see how people react.
