you will enjoy in Japan I went to Japan very long time , so much in there from food to shopping , I am from Philippines living in the US , so I visit my family every Christmas 🙋🏻♀️

My daughter and I love Tuckernuck! I am so happy for you Lisa! I have been editing my closet lately and I've realized I need absolutely nothing. I've taken loads of stuff to the little resale boutique near me and I still feel like I have far more than necessary. It's been such a shift in my thinking. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Japan!!!

It’s definitely not just me. I’ve read several people discuss it on the Facebook groups. It’s really fascinating how many things they’re finding out about these drugs.

The way you feel about shopping is how I feel about handbags. I am stopping in Barcelona in November and I will probably purchase a bag even though I’m not sure I want one.
I’ll definitely talk about my shopping experience in Barcelona during that video. It was a different experience for sure. But, I just can’t pass up a hefty VAT refund on top of an already lower price.
How cool, Lisa! The trip to Asia sounds amazing and so much fun. All the vlogs to come (from the New York visits and Asia) should be a Dr. Seuss book for travel and luxury shopping, lol. When you were talking about the handbag that you got that was paid mostly with gift cards and so it probably shouldn’t count, I thought about the Nanny Fran Fine; when she stacked two slices of pizza on top of each other, she declared that it was just like eating one slice because the body can’t tell the difference. I thought, Lisa is right and that bag should be exempt. Cassie Thorpe calls it “girl math.” I’m all for the girl mathing idea.

I’ve been to all the places you mentioned, but I didn’t shop in pre-loved shops. I went into one in Tokyo Ginza area and they had security like Fort Knox, looked me up and down, I just turned around and left.

I remember commenting and laughing about the jeans in the declutter videos because I have about 2-3 pairs and you had about 20 which I couldn’t get my head around. Evidently you’ve since moved on a lot more clothing! Over time, do you feel you’ll replace clothing to that same amount, for choice, or buy fewer but absolute favourites that you’ll reach for time and again? Do you feel by shopping less, you’ve broken what had simply become a shopping habit?
Not on any medication but when C19 stopped me from shopping, I realised it had become a hobby and as my Aussie state curtailed unnecessary travel for such a long time, I think it broke the habit I’d formed. It’s now a bit of a chore. I tell myself I’ll look around and I do a bit but have soon had enough - I get in and get out much quicker and only scroll for things I have to buy.
I remember that, too. And it will be interesting to see how things shake out when I start rebuying things for real. At the moment, I feel like things I’ve bought are just to “get me through” if that makes sense.
I do think I had a bit of a shopping addiction. I think it was more than just a habit. So I’m very thankful this medicine is helping in that regard.
So interesting that the medication is also curbing your desire to shop. NIH is currently investigating whether it helps with addiction more broadly, as with alcohol consumption. Change the hormones, change the behavior, which makes me wonder again about the nature of 'choice'.
We will absolutely be seeing more and more studies come out showing further benefits of this medicine. Sleep apnea, cardiovascular health, Alzheimer’s, liver and kidney diseases and more.
I think my brain naturally produces anti-shopping neurochemicals because I have to be forced to buy (non-Hermes) clothes. 😂 I support your handbag hall passes. It’s giving “honey it’s not cheating, it happened in Cancun” energy. 💅🏾

That’s really fascinating about the drug. Nice side effect. 2 weeks ago I gave up all sugar and I feel like you do no need to shop I still look tho. I feel calmer, also not as hungry. Weird. I’m very happy for you tho. It’s freeing isn’t it.
