Omg the napkins and coffee cups!!! I’m so jealous!

I have a lot of thoughts. I feel like I'm watching a car crash and can't look away. It also feels like the LV higher ups are laughing all the way to the bank too! I think personally its crazy behaviour from everyone involved eg. customers. I would have probably have liked a piece from the collection (not a bag as I don't think I would know how style it and want wearable pieces) but the luxury experience is important to me as well as products and this isn't luxury. I deserve better than this as a potential customer. I'm exhausted listening to your story about how you got your pieces. It doesn't sound fun or nice. I always enjoy your unboxings so i'm glad you got it at least some part of what you wanted.

I only purchase few pieces from lv and the pieces I got before this drop is on the affordable side BUT my client advisor and I have a great relationship for many years even before lv as she used to work with another flagship lux fashion house. The flagship store where i lived they received the wrapper ribbon and tag. The preorder was released 2 weeks prior to the launch (preordering pieces is not just me-i want to see the items first then pay) launch day i was told most pieces were prepaid and was asked if i wanted to prepay the item. i said i will try my luck and went 5 mins after the maison open. The floor was insane. Was fortunate to get 1/2 of what I want. 20mins after the maison open and most pieces are gone. All multi color bags have been purchased. They dont do display items for this collection, not sure if that is weird. If its on the floor then you can buy it. Orders online same packaging plus stickers i think but it says while supplies last. I prefer doing it in the boutique so as to help my client advisor if she does get commission (which Im not sure if thats the case cos I didnt ask and will not) i consider my purchase a big one but then again I only purchase rarely and was not offered any drinks nor did I ask one but then again I only have like 30mins to spend in lv as I need to meet a friend afterwards. I am a vip of another lux fashion house. Is this lv launch a luxury experience my answer is no but am I happy for my purchase? Its a resounding yes! 😅

I don't think that having Zendaya as the face of the collection was an issue. LV would've dropped the ball regardless of who they had chosen. How could they not ensure there was enough packaging for the items that they produced? Why did they take preorders from people if they weren't actual orders? Why show the items as "Add to cart" on the website if there wasn't any stock actually available? I'm not that interested in the Murakami collection, but even just watching it from the outside is so frustrating. I feel like Loewe handles collabs much better. Every customer gets the special bags, tissue paper, boxes, etc, and Loewe even passed out free books to people who were walking by in Tokyo.

I am from Minneapolis and am not a VIC, but I am a low five figures’ client. I reached out to my CA on 11/23 and she said they “would know more” on 12/2. I did, however, give her my wish list for the black nano speedy or black accessories on 11/23 just to put it in the back of her mind. I reached out to her again on 12/4 and she told me the launch was 1/3. I asked if they were taking pre orders and she said they were on 1/1. I then received a text on launch day at 9 in the morning and she said she has the black accessories if I wanted it. I said I did, paid for it online, and then picked it up around noon. I also did not receive any packaging or even a token. I have since reached out (the evening of the 3rd) asking about ANY card holders in either the black or white multicolor but as of yet have heard nothing back - and I have texted my CA twice since 1/3. So while I was fortunate to get one piece, it was anything BUT a pleasant experience.

I placed my preorder in early Dec. The order was received on Sat Jan 4th with all 6 items that I ordered. I was also able to order a couple of additional items on release day. Those have not been received yet. The items that I received were all wrapped with the ribbon & a panda tag hanging off of it. I’m glad I didn’t have any problems but sad that so many people didn’t have the same experience.

I was lucky to get my preorder filled but still very aware of the craziness! I got sucked in but can’t believe the chaos! My store was sold out so I couldn’t add if I wanted to? Hopefully they fix it for the next launch 😊

Happy New Year Lisa! What craziness, my SA called me on New Year’s Eve and texted me pictures of the things they will receive in store, and I picked out the pieces I wanted and paid for it right at the time. I picked my items up in the Short Hills Mall on Sunday, there were none of the products in store and the store did not even had any window displays. Basically customers picked up their items directly but I was not even able to look at any other items. No special packaging, I got a ribbon on one of my pieces, but that is about it. I’m glad I got the items I wanted, but it’s very strange how this launch was handled and I feel bad for the SA’s who have to deal with that underperformance of the company.

The launch online was a dumpster fire. I was able to snag a bandeau but wanted the cardholder/coin purse. I agree about the campaign. It would have been awesome if they used a Y2K celebrity, such as Jessica Simpson. That would have been iconic. I fell in love with Louis Vuitton after seeing her Speedy she carried. Excited to see your unboxing! ❤

LV really screwed with us and I believe they did it all for hype. And we will never find out as they don’t care. In fact I’m sure nothing will change for the next two launches. I also worked too hard for getting the item that wasn’t on my list.

Also why did they send out so much PR when they knew they had so many pre-orders? They also send PR in beautiful white boxes with Murakami print inside, tissue paper and special dust bags. But those of us spending thousands don’t get that?

My store didn’t have the packaging either. But it came on the weekend so my CA shipped my order yesterday. I hope there’s tissue paper, ribbon panda and bag. If not I’ll ask him to send me because I spent enough money. I spent $10k, got the side trunk because it’s leather, pink Romy cardholder, multicolor cardholder and the pink leather Lisa wallet. It sure didn’t feel like a luxurious experience. My CA tells me more orders are going to open up on the 10th, I’ve also heard this from CA’s in the US.

Crazy!! I can’t wait to hear and find out which bag you got! My pre-orders were taken and paid for on December 5 for two bags. However, on launch day, I got an email saying that my order was shipped, and I should be receiving my bags this Friday! I can’t wait! Wonder if I’ll get any packaging…

so i went to the rodeo location on the day it launched. while waiting in the long line i managed to get an order in for in store pickup. the order didn't make it to the store. so i had to re-purchase the item the next day when i went in to check on it. the marketing really did not match the amount of stock they actually had. i'm really confused why LV was this unprepared, since this monogram is super popular. i also question the use of zendaya. she's their biggest ambassador and would draw in more interest for those who aren't there because of nostalgia. i did get the trainers (white MC) i wanted, but i had no hope of even getting an slg or a bag. anyways the vintage market will be getting my money for the two bags i wanted from the collection. the sa gave me an unused coffee cup and i kept the napkins. anyways back to being an appreciated customer of fendi, and will dip back to LV when i want to upgrade my travel gear.

Happy New Year! So much to unpack with this whole situation. My daughters in their early 20s showed me and I saw some of it on TikTok. These holiday hauls have been going on for awhile and I think early Covid years fueled them when the kids could not be together. I’m not a fan but I guess they could be compared to luxury channel unboxings. But, the way these girls were whirling around their gifts and talking about the items it didn’t seem like there was much joy about the item itself. I think when we watch your unboxings it’s clear how excited you are about your purchases/gifts and we are excited for you. We learn a lot about the item, details and collections. I think the liability issue is real and will be interesting to see how that develops.

Tokyo can be very overwhelming your first time! Do you think you’d ever want to come back to Japan? Looking forward to the rest of your vids!

David seems to know his way around there. I do think the bags were overpriced and that picotin was not worth what they wanted for it. If I were you I’d buy brand new but did you say you were looking to score something vintage. Like that black Kelly you showed? But it didn’t have the strap because of being vintage. Flying long distances is an endurance test. Forgot because its been so long. Don't know how you manage to calculate how much you'll save if you purchase it in Paris or Tokyo. So many topics raised by this. One hopes age brings clarity - "hauls" or purchases serve inspiration and information to older viewers who want to be fashion forward or at least appear more modern despite aging and shows options that they may not be aware of. It is not appropriate for the young, leads to low self-esteem in those who cannot afford, and they have less maturity to understand that is should not be the norm for them. It is no wonder that in certain demographics, debt is increasing along with these pressures to keep up with peer groups. Secondly, as regards to the RealReal, I run a shredding company, and we do quarterly pick-ups for them of items that need to be destroyed. Like FashionFile, they authenticate carefully all the products they sell. While no company is perfect which is why independent authentication services exist, bearing in mind the video had so many fakes which she admitted in the second video, I would be surprised if this did not lead to a case for libel as the resale industry relies on trust.

If kids see all these adults doing luxury hauls and unboxings and getting thousands of views and profiting from these videos, it’s no surprise that they would aspire to do the same with as early a head start as possible, capturing an audience their own age to grow with their channel. It comes off as hypocritical as bottle-clinging parents telling their kids not to drink.

There are a lot of studies at this point about how the human brain processes social media interaction and there are a few key "take aways" that I think are good to be generally aware of; 1) It seems like we don't "register" what we post as interacting with other people. Meaning we're willing to be ruder to each other and more outlandish because we're not perceiving posting on the internet as the same as having a conversation with someone. 2) When consuming media on the internet we DO "register" it as a social interaction. Meaning when we watch a video, or read an e-mail, our brain does recognize that as a social interaction between two human beings. Taking these two points into account, you can then see the negative feedback loop / spiral that can happen; We will say anything we impulsively feel like AT people, but then they respond we take their response more literally/personally. But to them, the responder, you made the personal "attack" first and their response, to them as they are writing it or filming it, does not "register" as personal now because they are the one posting at you.
