This looks so good! I love spam. Although french fries are typically "fried," I don't think the spam needed to be fried in oil. You can still get that same crispiness by just popping them on the pan with no oil. The spam releases enough oil from its fat and can pretty much just crisp up by cooking in its own. Not sure if that makes it any healthier. But then again, it takes more work to be having to flip them from side to side if you chose not to fry them.

The only arena of cooking with exact time is baking and even then it's almost always eyeballing it until it's done. If you need precise time frames to cook something, you shouldn't be cooking.
Eryn Cohen That's not true. A couple can mean anything from 2-4ish really when you are being so general about it. If it would only be in for 2 minutes, she would say 2 minutes. But it can be over, and it can be under because circumstances can easily change the need. Also there are many people (like myself) who don't always say "a couple" and mean 2 because we grew up to be taught that it can mean a small number, usually from 2-4.. She could have replaced it with "a few" and I'm sure there are other things, it was just her word choice. I agree with notforprofittho, if you can't seem to comprehend when something is done, or be willing to try trial and error, you really should leave the cooking to someone else and not bother wasting useful food.
