Shorter levels were exactly the reason I enjoyed this one. Although they were harder, it only encouraged me to give them another shot rather than stressing over easier obstacles in a much larger stage.
Personally, I wouldn't have minded if the levels were as long as in the other New Soups. I just want difficult Mario levels.
Lame
It's like the Super mario bros 3 levels, they where hard but short.
Luigi is W. Mario is L
New Super Luigi U is definitely amazing. I love all of the remixed levels. I just wish there were new bosses.
Yeah i wish there were New Bosses too
@@jaypeterson9256 same it would of

I agree with all the comments above
Yes
Love your videos man! You're growing insanely fast and it's great to see. Happy to be on this journey with you. Keep it up!
Wow there’s a new 2D Mario rumor going around and i just found out i really hope it’s true and they actually try something new again and be creative i would love to see creative type bosses like how new super Mario bros ds did them but harder it would be cool
this video is validating my younger self who wanted this game SO BAD when it came out but was too broke for it lol. maybe i'll see how much it's going for on ebay !! i'd love to give it a try, especially knowing that it's actually a unique and challenging game
Respect one of my top 3 Luigi games 🎮
The ending of this video was great :)
I loved it when he kept mentioning those awful troll mario maker levels that people make.
There are short level which is why short time limit I do not really die by time limit
i think that both the levels being shorter, the music being faster and luigi himself being "slippery" truly sell how naturally anxious luigi is - idk if it was on purpose, but i love it.
Whether intentional or not on the devs part that's such a cool analogy.
thought that mf being slippery was just me trippin😭
I think the same, they adapted 2D Mario to Luigi's personality
The levels being harder really shows how scared Luigi feels without Mario there to guide him
shame i passed on Luigi U when it originally released bc of 2D Mario fatigue. regarding its difficulty, SMB3 levels are also short and challenging, which is why it's my favorite 2D Mario, so Luigi U does seem more up my alley in that respect
This video taught me so much. I had no idea this game was SO DIFFERENT from Mario U! :( Back when this game came out my Older Brother said he didn’t wanna get it since it was “exactly like Mario U but with Luigi” and looks like we were both wrong! Really hoping we get something like year of Luigi again but for different characters. *AHEM Peach and Bowser years! :D*
You can still get deluxe
Bowsers inside story and super princess peach exist
The fact that they lost 500m dollars doing the Luigi year probably means that they won't be doing anything like it again, which is a shame
@@GlossArt I believe now that the switch is on the market, they can definitely pull this off with great success, although in a smaller scale
bowsers fury?
My fiancé is a more strategic player and does amazing in the Mario version because he likes to take his time and get as much coins as possible before beating the level but I’m not as good as it because I use run waaay too often and usually not to my advantage haha! That’s why I love Super Luigi U, it suits my playing style the best and it doesn’t feel like a punishment, it compliments it!
He mentioned this slightly in the video, but basically every secret exit area has some type of Luigi themed art, the one in one of the snow levels is one of the most gorgeous things I've ever seen in a Mario game (a star constellation thing)
Or the clever one where the vines create an image of the guy, I love all the love they put into it to show Luigi the well deserved love he should get more of
im pretty sure every single level has a hidden Luigi somewhere in it, it's a very cool detail!
@@ItsTrixis yea, every level has him
2:17 You can actually hold the left/right trigger button on toad to get an extra toad player. Hope this helps! So it’s Luigi, two toads and a toadette
but I don't think it was like that on the original game
@@warriorharj79 they were but on wii u dlc it is no toadette
@@hellobrawler1356 you sure? i've tried looking at cheats in different wiki sites but none of them mention if it works on multiplayer, they just mention the singleplayer Nabbit code and the Star Road level playable Mii, but not much else and anything else that comes up is for Deluxe and not the Wii U relase, i mean it would make sense that it would work there too but my trust for nintendo only goes so far lol
@@Josuh damm that was Long i have no clue really but I have the wii u version and there is luigi, nabbit, blue toad and Yellow toad or maybe i misunderstud the original Coment
You should not trust every idot you meet on the Internett like me
He means that in u deluxe, when you are about to select yellow toad, press the “L” trigger and it will change to blue toad. Also, it doesn’t work for multiplayer, idiots
Eh, didn't really care for it. I like the higher difficulty but I hate short timers in games.
You should do videos on DKC Country Returns & DKC Tropical Freeze! 👀
🙃
Ah, you didn't mention my favorite change with the Koopaling castles! At the beginning of each castle is a stone carving of the respective Kooaling's face. Its another small detail like the hidden Luigis that I just love.
NSMBU+NSLU, the combo pack you could get alongside the Wii-U at the time, is the best NSMB game overall. Don't @ me
luigi u basically fixed all the problems nsmbu had.
It makes me indescribably sad that Nintendo lost so much money during the year of Luigi... they took a step away from their golden child Mario to give our favorite brother Luigi some time in the spotlight but it ended up not being a success. After a mistake like that they'll likely never ever try a risk like that again. :(
Which is a darn shame because New Super Luigi U is such a unique and interesting take on the series, and proves just how capable Green Stache can be, given all the levels are more difficult and challenging than Mario's levels.
I think ultimately the problem is at first glance it looks like just New Super Mario Bros. U but with Luigi instead of Mario... which doesn't really encourage good sales. :/
You're passion for the the series and the console maker that was such a big part of my early yrs has nearly brought a tear to my eye. Seriously quite charming.
11:43
Honestly, I think nintendo shouldn't make 2D Mario games as difficult as New Super Luigi U. Instead, they should handle it exactly how they did with New Super Mario/Luigi U: make 2 versions of the game, one with Luigi as the protagonist with harder gameplay, and one with Mario as the protagonist with easier levels.
I know someone who'd have a heart attack with this 'dlsequel'. she plays nsmb games in the exact opposite way to the premise of this game. she has a turtle pace while trying to collect literally everything.
she should play nsmb2
Currently finishing Luigi U, probably one of the MOST FUN I've had with the NSMB Series!!
As a Luigi fan, I only found out about this game today. I've never played this version before but I felt that having playing super Mario bros wii u was a bit too easy in some cases. I'm happy to know they bought some fresh new designs and challenges to super Luigi u. I definitely can't wait to try this game out
Just wondering have you ever played super princess peach
Its a bit of an inverted mario game w peach as the main character and id defo would watch a video of you playing it
I LOVE THESE VIDEOS PLS MAKE MORE
You should collab with Nintendo Hero. Both great retrospective channels on Nintendo games.
Ah ah I came into the comments to give my opinion and suggest you give your opinion on mario 3d land and I see you did it ^^ next video enqueued :)
I remembered that I had liked luigi U but couldn't say why. The low level of difficulty of recent mario games is a problem and I think that, and the diversity of situations, are the reasons I liked it more than the other similar mario games. This is what I liked in mario 3d land too (along with the gorgeous 3d).
Regarding Peach as a playable character, there is DS game called Super Princess Peach you might wanna try.
By far the best 2D platformer game (Mario Related)
What's everyone's favorite Holiday? Mom: Christmas Dad: Halloween Me: Luigi Day
I saw this in my reccomended less that 20 hours than it was made! I love fresh content like this!!!
Great video! I just found your Channel and the videos are awesome. Keep it up!
PS: weegie time
Funny thing, when me and my little brother got a Wii U for Christmas back in 2013, the one that came packaged with NSMBU + NSLU, we finished NSLU but never actually completed NSMBU, and we spent a lot of time getting the star coins in Luigi U, just to try to get 100%. That was hard lol.
It's super sad how incredibly slept on Luigi U is. It's geniunly one of the most fun times I've had with a game in a long time, and what they manage to do with the budget restraints they had were amazing! Also, awesome video, excited to see more from you in the future!
yknow i never understood why they called this game "New Super Luigi" when there was never a "Super Luigi" game in the first place lol if they crossed out the "Bros" why not go the full mile? "Super Luigi U" is way more unique and memorable of a title
Wild! I guess nintendo didn’t do a good enough job of explaining they were all new levels at the time because I skipped this assuming the only difference was like more enemies or something. Gonna check this out now!
people don't dislike the new super mario bros series cause the games by themselves are bad, no, each game is good, but they are all kinda the same, they play the same, they look the same, etc, new super luigi U breaks that, it isn't the same anymore. Sadly because it is DLC for mario bros U, not that many people gave it a shot
What would've been a much better plot is if Mario was the one getting stolen, and luigi was going off to save his brother--
In the switch port it’s equally as fun, but I’m also gonna play on the Wii U Because it’s so much better The Wii remote is just classic for me with Mario
Mario and Luigi U were my favorite games in the New series, probably because those were the only ones I beat besides 2, and came out when I was a bit more "seasoned" with games. But something about the overworld and even the level design especially in Luigi U like you said makes these games stick out to me. Maybe when I have time I'll check out these games again.
Thank you for this video! I do have this game but I think little Me never completed this one. Its time to give it a new try! Thanks man
16:49 YES! *YEEEESSS!*
FINALLY SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTAND ME!
Now I’m wondering, is Super Luigi U better than Super Mario U?
yes
11:38 to be fair at the start at a Mario game its first world should be easy it's second to 4th world should be a lot less easy 5th and 6th world should be medium and and hard and world 7+ should be hard
Can you make a video about "Super Mario Galaxy 2." many people has beef with this game. Love OGreat
My dad is at Chicago and is leaving in a couple days and wil he is doing that we will get new super Mario u wii and new super Luigi u Wii U and we are so excited to get them
Maybe this game would’ve been slightly better if saving peach was switched to saving daisy
need a new mario game its my childhood
How is one enemy in a basic room with no unique or challenging gimmicks a good boss fight?!
3:55 Actually in the Galaxy games Luigi is slippery and jumps higher than mario.
In wonder there should be a Mario version that's easy and a Luigi version that is like this.
I love your videos they're awesome but i hink i will be unsubbing because of the f bombs
Thank you for the vid! I wasn’t going to play this game but now I definitely am.
I never gave NSLU a chance because i had skill issues, i wish i could play it again.
If they make another luigi based 2d platformer i want to see it be a dynamic between luigi and bowser JR only having every boss fight be based off of either machines bowser jr already had (like megaleg from mario galaxy) or new machines with the final boss being dry bowser jr or something like that
i love the positivity about the nsmb series; luigi u is a really cool idea imo; the theming of luigi is nice enough; but having it be a sort of harder more fast paced game is so cool
the luigi eastereggs in luigi u and some future mario games are so good and i love them
luigi u kinda reminds me of a mario maker level pack if it had access to the actual stuff from nsmb; which is cool - its got the theming of luigi and the low time limit and the levels focus mostly around one concept and doesnt extend it to become boring. stuff like the broozers being in a non ghost level with the stars? its like a mario maker level with something being somewhere you wouldnt ever really expect and using them well with other stuff and wwhatnot
i kinda wish i could play luigi u again but my wii u broke ages ago which is sad
was super excited to see this video in my notifications, the year of luigi has some of my favourite mario games, and this isn't an exception. id love to see more difficulty in mario games, more stuff in a similar style to this would be super cool
we need this 2d mario rumor to be real even if its a launch title for the next switch
I honestly want each NSMB game to have a Luigi campaign attached to it.
Like, have Mario be the easy one that serves as an introduction for kids who are new to both the Mario formula and platforming in general.
Have Luigi stand on the sidelines to give a more challenging experience for veterans of the series and those who mastered the Mario side.
Maybe throw in a Nabbit campaign that ramps up the difficulty even more, namely by removing his immunity to enemies. Like a Kaizo level, relying only on your base moveset.
Who knows, maybe they can throw in a Wario campaign that takes the gameplay of Mario Land 3 - Wario Land 1. With a slower gameplay loop that's more focused on exploration, and a moveset that emphasizes horizontal power rather than vertical mobility.
And they can bring back the power ups from that one for this, but have the flamethorwer hat spit fireballs instead of the unruly stream we got in the first game.
TDLR: Have Mario stay easy for the new kids, have Luigi be challenging for the old timers, Nabbit for those who mastered both, and Wario to test the waters for bringing that series back.
I imagine that, personality-wise, it would probably be more fitting that Mario has the more difficult levels while Luigi has the easier ones. Not for any objective reason, but because I imagine Luigi would _absolutely_ prefer simply having to go through a much easier path while Mario would have no qualms going through hell and back just to rescue someone who's gonna get kidnapped within the next 5 minutes
@@ohmeohmicah True, but Mario's the easily marketable one and draws in the casuals. Meanwhile, Luigi doesn't have this issue and is far easier to use as the "harder campaign" guy because of it.
Edit; I can also imagine the difference in difficulty coming from the games being the stories told by Mario and Luigi, and Luigi just exaggerating how scary the stages were since he's not as brave.
@@YellowScar2014 True.
Good vid, but the amount of star coins you missed is painful
The shorter level design style reminds me a bit of SMB3, where stages were usually a bit more challenging than your usual Mario game, but it was compensated by making the levels quite short for the most part.
if you want to experience the game without the pressure play as toadette
Definitely the most underrated new super ____ bros game out there
New Super Luigi U is one of my favourites.
New super Luigi u is so much better than New super Mario u
7:25 "And instead of being a vertical autoscroller,
_it's more of a horizontal autoscroller_ 😔"
why does the back half of every sentence sound like it's the most dramatic revelation in history
Luigi’s first debut was actually in a Game & Watch game
so luigi is in more new super mario games than mario is
Dude, this video better hit the algorithm bc this is fr an amazing video
Yeah, i’m watching it from France !
Of course it's amazing, it's Luigi.
Excellent DLC, excellent game! My only grudge would be the bosses. If they give you a time bonus for reaching them, at least they could’ve made them harder or add some sort of surprise mechanic that may throw the players off.
Certainly the most fun I’ve had with a “Mario” game in a while :]
Difficulty in a super Mario game has been always an aspect that, personally, I have always love about
I don't know... Maybe it is more satisfying completing a level that made you go serious on it
First. Also I think that some of the level should be a bit harder. They are always super easy lol.
As a gamer that skill level is trash…
( it took me at LEAST 10 tries per level to pass, It took me a total of 60 hours to beat New Super Mario bros U 😂 )
I personally really like the idea of being able to choose the difficulty! With new super Mario bros u deluxe, you get to choose if you wanna play the kiddy version or the hard version. I really hope that if they make a new 2d super Mario game that they use that idea to help make the game stand out and be unique
I forgot this is what the logo of the game looked like. I looked at the thumbnail and saw the word "Bros." crossed out and the word "Good" right below it and thought the video was supposed to be called "New Super Luigi Good U" 😂
my favorite game in the NEW series.
Regarding the difficulty of New Super Mario Bros Wii, say-I believe the difficulty of the game was sufficiently challenging *when it came out.* It's getting on now since NSMBW (and WiiU) was released, and in that time, several players (including myself) have become more much more experienced with the games, especially since the release of MM2. It's why many players are probably baffled by how easy NSMBW seems when looking back to it.
It's been 14 years since NSMBW was released. Me as a 9 year-old kid playing Mario isn't the same me playing that game back now.
Awesome vid, btw 😄
I enjoyed this one significantly more than the bloated WiiU game. The levels are perfectly compact, about the size of those in SMB3.
This game is exactly what the more experienced mario players always wanted: Difficult, fun and original levels, easter eggs, the preassure the levels make to you... And the idea of including a character like Nabbit allows less experienced players to also enjoy the game. It's just an amazing game.
And since deluxe included Luigi u toadette is similar to nabbit
Ill be honest. For some reason. When i played through this game. I didnt notice any level design changes. I thought it was basically Super Mario Bros U without Mario.
I just 100% NSMB2 and was craving some more luigi content since when i beat the game i started playing as luigi in the post game, and omg is this game so good!! I was really not expecting the difficulty curve at first I honestly thought maybe i chose hardmode by accident bc mario games never felt rushed like this but it works so well!! I always find myself rushing to the star coins and its soooo fun, some of the previous mario games had stupid places for hidden coins so im glad they switched up the formula. But yeah this review and game are both great highly highly recommend!! Cant wait to 100% it :)
Taking about Luigi games….
Let’s start a topic or video about Wario games. They been doing dude almost as wrong as Waluigi from the beginning unless you just really do feel different about these little 2d warioland games. My main point here, they did Wario right ONE time and it was called Wario World for GC. It was such an amazinggggg game omg. They nailed it. Warioland does not compare not even close. I don’t get it… they went right back to 2d warioland on the Wii and after. In fact that was pretty much it for Wario. Wario world is potentially one of the best Mario universe 3d games EVER made. For over a decade now, I need more. We deserve more 3d Wario exclusive. WARIO deserves it! And if they truly never want to, they should atleast try something brand new for Waluigi and give him a 3d game debute. So much potential brought out with Wario World… just to go back to warioland. Wtf.
It's like upon release of a game the internet incredibly misjudge it, but then years later people finally finds the truth.
I was somewhat disappointed with New Super Mario Bros U. I got it for free and didn't expect much from it so that didn't bother me. But it also didn't inspire me to get Luigi U. But after watching the videos here, seeing the low timer, and seeing you compare the difficulty to the last level on 3D World has persuaded me. My favorite 2D Mario is the Lost Levels, specifically because it's hard and, as you say, you get into a "rhythm" when trying to beat it.
Thank you, I'm looking forward to this one now!
I feel like a 3d super Luigi U would be awesome and wouldn’t really take that long for Nintendo to make I mean they were already cooking on the Nintendo direct might as well continue to and I feel like it would be very awesome
Nabbit is by far the best feature of this game, should there have been a maybe hidden option for another toad? Sure, but if he wasn't there multiplayer would have been impossible for most. I don't know if you played multiplayer but I have with only 2 people, and I have to admit, it's HARD without Nabbit. Forcing him is essentially just Nintendo trying it'd best to prevent people to go mentally insane.
the only things i'd change about this game are:
make the clock use "mario seconds" instead of real seconds, it feels a smidge too long rn
give nabbit mario's physics, they fit him a lot better and make him feel like less of an easy mode character
I understand what you mean about the final boss fight. It would be cooler if Nintendo used Luigi's platforming skills. Imagine a boss fight, in which you have to jump on narrow platforms, and try to nock out Bowser Jr. from his cart.
I didn't even know this game existed
Love the Content ✊👌
idk if the game should be called the 5th game in the series. Given it's just a mod of the base game. :/ Than resold as a game which it really isnt a standalone game. When, fan mods had more effort than New super luigi u . Most of luigi could be classified as longer fall time, longer stop collission time, and some looped animations. So, its hard to call the game good when it was never its own thing. Like luigis mansion or pokemon ranger.
I'm just playing luigi u for the first time today. I bought mario u deluxe the day it came out and just finally played it over Christmas this last year..i totally forgot about Luigi U until today. I am really enjoying it so far. Pretty difficult. Lots of fun so far though.
Hot take: Wonder is the sequel to the Mario U games. Get it? Double-U
Seriously though, Wonder is like they got a third bite at the apple on Mario U.
i just bought the super mario bros delux.. at 65 USD I think it's a waste of oney
Mario runs WAY too slow... and it feels so boring at times
I loved the mobile game even a lot more then that one
I think it's a waste of money
I was ten when I got this game and I hated it, I couldnt get past the first world because my small brain couldnt keep up. I also had no clue nabbit was a thing so I continued to play as Luigi thinking thats all I could ever play as. Looking back, it's a great game but it will always be the worst game nintendo ever released for my childhood self
Weegee #1!
1:00
even then i consider New Super Luigi U to be what i call "sequel DLC"
outside that they reused the map and bosses, the game is completly different. heck the fact it has different physics makes the bosses feel different
Honestly, i've grown up with the New super Mario games...its kinda the best one for me , the difficulty is perfect for casual players like me
