We love Uncle Fester Monastatos!
🌓Yesss it so excited for this, getting myself ready to perform in many of these amazing plays. I almost 50 and still singing strong. 💕
Oh! I see, Uncle Fester and Nosferatu had a love child. ❤️😄
Saw it live this afternoon and it was wonderful
AWESOME!
Omg love the theme
I think Gioacchino Rossini was greatly inspired by this aria to compose his "Largo al factotum", from the opera "Il Barbiere di Siviglia".
It looks like Tim Burton is the costume designer
Amazing!🥂
He was a moor.
Wow, that is some sleep aid
Monostatos in this looks like Count Orlok from Nosferatu.
He looks like Oswald Cobblepot
Why for heaven's sake, does the description above give this scene as a duet? Can't believe that experts of the Royal Opera House got it so terribly wrong! 😥
Take a chill pill
I think it's because they're both on stage the whole time.
@@Mariya_500 I think what matters is how many are singing. Regardless, it's not a big deal and Monsieur R.Renate needs his chill pill.
its a non-consensual duett
@@theonlygoodlookinghabsburg2081 It's not a question of chill or not, but of exactitude. Especially in regard to a first-time audience.
And as a musicologist I feel "entitled" to irritation and to express it.
Alles fühlt der Liebe Freuden,
Schnäbelt, tändelt, herzet, küsst;
Und ich soll die Liebe meiden,
Weil ein Schwarzer hässlich ist.
Ist mir denn kein Herz gegeben?
Ich bin auch den Mädchen gut?
Immer ohne Weibchen leben,
Wäre wahrlich Höllenglut.
Drum so will ich, weil ich lebe,
Schnäbeln, küssen, zärtlich seyn! -
Lieber, guter Mond - vergebe
Eine Weisse nahm mich ein! -
Weiss ist schön! - ich muss sie küssen;
Mond! verstecke dich dazu! -
Sollt es dich zu seh'n verdriessen,
O so mach die Augen z
Line 6 is „Bin ich nicht von Fleisch und Blut?“
Line 4 he sings „Sklave“ instead of „Schwarzer“
@@TheRancordthey don't think we as opera listeners can see the difference between a play and reality, so they cut all the rasist parts.
I cannot say I like the idea of "improved" texts, seems as silly as the fig leaf campaign.
Sounds worse if you ask me. People who get offended by 300 year old song texts should really get a real hobby.
❤
I feel your pain, bro
Nosferatu.
Monostatos
Its a real good aria, but why change the words? Mozart put them in for a reason
Mozart didn't put in any words, that was Emanuel Schikaneder. Mozart composed the music on his Libretto...
@@radiumdude fair enough, why change the words Emanuel Schikaneder put there.
@@degroot9914 Precisely…. because whoever is the director of this performance here, likes to bow down to woke garbage.
@@radiumdudeWoke garbage: not being racist?
I thought Monastatis was supposed to be a black man?
Yeah but turns out racism is a bad thing and we changed the libretto to make it suck less. If Die Zauberflöte was published as a book rather than an opera, it would hardly be celebrated today
@@chimpazoo1143Intending a character to be black is racist? Ok bro.
Is Nosferatu style!!!
Was haben sie mit dem Wort "Schwarzer" tauschen? Stabe? Ich kann es nicht erkennen.
the changes:
"Schwarzer" to "Sklave"
"Weiße" to "Schöne" and "Holde" on the repetition
"Weiß" to "Sie"
imho they did a pretty good job to change these words
@@athadria_gaming thanks for the info! It's nice to see the changes and it's my first time learning the word "holde".
@@xhoques Holde is a very old word, not common these days
Uncle Fester
Uncle fester
OMGGGGGGG IM SO EARLYYY HIIII
Meine Meinung...Schauspiel und Stimme gut...Aussprache sehr schlecht und Libretto Veränderung: lächerlich
Hello

I'm sad his voice IS not good
