Trey has been giving these guys a shout out for a couple years now. He mentioned them being an influence on the ghosts of the forest album. IMO this is the best band I’ve heard since Phish, KGLW is truly doing something unique, and the musicianship is incredible!
These guys are part jazz , part psychedelic, part indie, part (wherever tool is) part classic rock part hip hop, part thrash metal, part nerd rock (Weezer), part Alice in chains, a TOTALLY legendary British Assie rock. On par with the greatest, such as Floyd and the Beatles, and king crimson. They even compare wi the grateful dead. . Amazing. I will demand at least on kglw song be in my requiem

It's not as constant as in a band like Tool, though. They actually use time signatures in a really non-flashy kind of way. This song and Wah Wah are in the classic 5/4 clave, with sections of 4/4 that flow really seamlessly. Mr Beat and Deserted Dunes are 7/8 and use it REALLY well IMO, for that kind of proggy, futuristic feel that's both propulsive and disorienting like floating through space.

Has like a country jazzy twang to it. Absolutely love this, the end solo especially. King Gizzard is one of the few bands that can experiment with their music without ruining the sound.

Stu does the mixing. The harmonica on the river is so fucking perfect. It's the background, the sky and the wind. It's the atmosphere that the rest resides in. The bass is the floor, the harmonica is the walls, the drums the motions, the guitars the lights and colours. This is perfect
it might be for when they do more of their louder stuff. Since they have three guitars and a keyboardist/harmonicist, they might need two to not drown everything out. Probably a very loud concert they have.
