In VERY loving memory of the almost unsung Mr. Fenton Robinson (1935 - 1997 R.I.P. Gone but NOT forgotten).

FANTASTIC footage. Saw Fenton @ Chitown BF, 90, but he was not given the main stage. It took a lot of effort to catch him; Son Seals, Jimmy J and Magic Slim were easy ones. Lefty Dizz, John Littlejohn, Byther Smith... Larry Davis was as mellow as a singer and as a guittaahhh stylist. Saw him in San Hozay, Ca, BF, Aug 88 - even talked to him. He was a tough dude, no-nonsense demeanor. HIP LINCHAIN I nevuhhh had luck with, got 2 copies of his excellent CHANGE MY BLUES lp on Teardrop, though. He was from Jimmy Dawkins' school of westside ghetto guitaristixx .. Loox like Below on dms ! He was the Elvin Jones on blues drumming. Stroger I saw w Lawhorn, @ B.L.U.E.S. June 90 - they were backin up Sunnyland; even Otis walked in w his nipponese wife, Masaki, and was lured onto the stage; spoked w briefly outside when they were leaving.
This was Eddie Shaw s club, he was a cousin to Tyrone Davis who called me once, was trying to fix a festival gig to 🇫🇮 Nevuuhh happened, the Grim Reaper got in between, just as with JACKIE MCLEAN to the same country as well. Life can be Harsh, as I used to quip to Jimmy Cotton s white keyboard man, Eddie Harsh, wheneveuuhh the band got in with my itinerary. IS KILLER ALLISON STILL AROUN - haven t heard nth in ages ? He was / is the Billy Cobham of modern Toddlin Town Big Beat - check HIGH COMPRESSION or LIVING IN THE DANGER ZONE !
    O er & out.
PS. Fenton s best lp is his 3rd Gator, which is frowned upon in the vid intro. It has those Chgo Fire Horns,,the same one s,, that created the tower of power on Otis Clay s 2 JPN Live doubles !!! The charts are hot AS HELL ! Bill Mc Farland....(they also backed up Artie BB White on his 1st Ronn lp 80).

Woh, what a great recording. And Robert 'Bob' Stroger (bass) is still around and playing. Incredible!
I wonder who's the drummer in this video...
