Wow, it always turns into more the deeper into it ya go. And all this time, I thought it was just my bad luck. I guess these old ironheads just keep getting older and in turn need more in-depth work. But we gotta do all we can to keep them alive. 😊

This owner really did not want to tear the engine apart. But, there was no choice and once you start digging, there is no telling how deep the hole will be...

Enjoyed the video as always. Looking forward to the next video with welding! Always interesting to see the prep involved! Cheers!

That was probably the most clear and concise motor appraisal , no 'mmm'ing', no 'well maybe'. Forensic.
Downside is, having watched 1/2 the vid' i went for a ride and i'm totally focused on ever click and tap; ruined my ride !

Truly sorry about that, Sportsters make a lot of mechanical noise, sometimes hard to set out the expensive noises from the not so expensive noises.

What is your opinion of truing flywheels between centers on a lathe. (For us folks that do not have a truing stand
and only work on our own stuff. ) Thanks

    • @IronHeadCycle

I've done it, my lathe has an MT4 taper in the spindle. Make sure you put the flywheels on centers so you are not measuring the run out of the chuck.

Just a comment regarding the rear motor mount. I was under the impression that the iron motor mounts were better because they didn't crack like the aluminum ones. Other than availability -- is there a reason to go with the aluminum version? I can see the corrosion argument but that probably takes years to show.

Enjoyed the video. I was looking around on some of your stuff to see if there was a way I could contact you and I’m kinda new to doing this on RUclips. Is there a way you can send me a link to contact you so we can have a conversation about Ironhead I do need some help and some things explain to me.
