Thank you for watching! Be sure to like as it helps me in the algorithm, and subscribe to keep up with the retro Xbox content. Splinter Cell and Halo 2 aren't featured because they are getting their own videos!
Hey Camp Xbox - you should make a video dedicated to the video game Roadkill. If you haven't played it, it's super epic. Reminds me a lot of Twisted metal but more open world. I think you'd enjoy it, and I'd love to hear you break it down. I didn't see it on your previous videos so thought I'd throw some content ideas your way. Cheers mate 🍻
Some interesting notes about CounterStrike on Xbox: the DLCs were both just unlockers. The maps are on disc, only the host of the game even needs the DLC unlockers installed for everyone to be able to use them. CounterStrike on Xbox was somewhere between Counter Strike Source and Counter Strike 1.6, while not being completely either of them. It was the first version of the game to ever have bots. Thanks for covering this wonderful piece of Xbox history! Everyone please remember to run XCAT on your old consoles. There's still so much original Xbox Live content missing and that's the easiest way to get it archived.
@@campxbox I'm absolutely thrilled that you're enjoying and making content with this content today. If you have any questions related the the DLC in the future please send me a msg. One more tibdit of interesting info: Among the fixes in the Unreal Championship title update was disabling anti-aliasing by default (it can be enabled again with a button combo), this roughly doubled the framerate.
Going from dial up to DSL in order to play online and acquire DLC was a wonderful journey. I actually feel happy we got firsthand experience with such a massive paradigm shift in gaming. Online multiplayer was no longer something reserved only for covens of PC folk. In truth, it made multiplayer more egalitarian by making DLC easy for anyone to understand and install! Not that doing it on pc is hard but at the *time* it seemed like an obscure thing you needed a computer science background to understand!
DLC is a great topic! Keep it going man again I'm a Playstation guy but nothing can replace the love and memories I have for original Xbox!! Wolfenstein is such a great game!
I want to bring up The OG Star Wars Battlefront and Battlefront 2 DLC on Xbox. Battlefront 1 had the Jabba's Palace map and Battlefront 2 had a DLC pack with Kit Fisto, Asajj Ventress and 4 maps. Along with the Halo 2 maps the Battlefront DLC was among the earliest DLC I ever played. The cool thing is it was able to be included in the Battlefront remaster.
I remember loading up halo 2 on my 360 when I got live for the first time… downloading the dlc on some separate fever dream screen… also getting jabbas palace on Star Wars 😂
I had no idea that KOTOR had any DLC, but then again the only DLC I was really aware of back then was for Ninja Gaiden and Splinter Cell (both of which you should cover). The KOTOR DLC seems really sparse but as a free bonus for Live subscribers I guess it's a cool little side area.
Midtown madness with the shopping car is pretty funny and a nice of piece of DLCs. The other maps DLCs are nice addition, although I don’t know why Outlaw Volleyball had so little DLC and they made Red Hot as a physical expansion? Hmm…
Frankly quite cozy how Doom 3 had a warm up time. I appreciate this as I play warm up match every time i start playing my vehicular battle games. Edit: 16:50 Is this the same layout as the campaign map? I did a replay of RTCW on original Xbox a few years ago, and I recall the level being challenging on higher difficulty with high tier enemies gunnin' for you
Great vid, but you cant talk about original xbox DLC without mentioning Harcroft! Hes the one whos been archiving all the title updates and dlc since back in the day. There is still some unarchived content out there, so I highly recommend running XCAT on your xbox if you think you have old title updates or dlc!
So was the dlc like a hot patch or you actually downloaded it and had its own download tab? Never got around to playing xbox live back then but I do remember playing the crap out of nfsu2 back in 2004 all day.
I broke out my OG Xbox a few months ago and popped in Midtown Madness 3 and discovered that i actually had some of the DLC vehicles unlocked. I had totally forgot it had DLC at all so it was a nice surprise. Sadly the laser on my Xbox disc reader is going bad and I cant really play it but it was fun to have a dose of nostalgia. 1 weird thing is the other games I tried with the bad laser on the disc reader all crashed and froze, but Midtown Madness never crashed or froze, it'd just slow to a crawl FPS wise every 10 seconds or so. Wish there was an easy fix for it
Open up your faulty Xbox and swap dvd drive with one from another console, or just buy another console for 30 bucks! Maintenance is very easy (except for hard disk). The console is built as a pc with good old ide naps!
These dlcs were really available as download from the MS network? In USA or in all regions? I had my firt OG Xbox in 2004 but no Xbox live subscription…
If I install the Kotor DLC to my soft modded xbox, will Yavin station pop up on my existing saved game? Or will I have to restart a new game save to access it?
Only through a softmod or hardmod. The community has uploaded and preserved most of the DLC released on the Xbox. You can FTP them to your console if it's "jailbroken". The original Xbox servers were fully shutdown and it's impossible to obtain them through normal means. Most of them were free anyway so it's hardly "piracy".
@@Manic_Panic Well, that is very helpful. I have only jailbroken a ps3, but could be open to doing it with a 360, since i know more of the original xbox games are available. I have just been a bit caught up with collecting legitimately for it, so might feel like i go over a kind of line right now.
@@Manic_Panic Saying most content is archived would be a overstatement and is painful failure on my part. We're still missing over 200 DLCs and over 100 title updates. The preservation efforts are still going strong today, 14 years after Xbox Live was shut down. You can install DLC and updates on a stock xbox, it's just more work than simply softmodding your console.
WAW, I mean i didn't know you could do that with the original XBOX. O.M.G that's just so Frigging cool man, I knew you could play online, But But Download updates. I so have a great Library of games for this console, I have Over 400 original tittles for this AWSOME System. I wish i could get my XBOX online, I would have a Flipping Ball Baby. I mean games like GTA SA, GTA Vice city, No 3, Need for speed Hot Pursuit 2, Dead or Alive 3, Halo 1 & 2, O.M.G. Mind Blown, I mean where do you start right. And all my Racing games to, I have a stack of those. Thanx for this dude, Very interesting Info my friend. Great video i really enjoyed it. Just how many games that take Advantage of this AWSOMENESS remains to bee seen, The XBOX was a really great Machine. Way ahead of It's Time, And the Graphics still hold up today on Quite a few Games on the System. Great Stuff.
I suffer the same disease you have, with around 400 games, 11 consoles, 25 controlers, incl. Logitech Wireless and the oem yuv cable! Otogi 1 and 2 rock!
I wish Microsoft released an Xbox Pro at the end of 2003 so it cold properly handle these mid generation games it struggled with. It would have meant they didn't have to rush the 360 and and sorted out the issues and launch it following year. All they had to do was put a faster Geforce 3 inside, the 1.4 Pentium 3 and 128MB of ram... Maybe double the HDD size too.

I find these DLC videos interesting just because how it was such a new thing on consoles at the time.
I'm glad you enjoy them! It's a cool piece of history because it feels like information that could be lost to time!

Hell yeah! Midtown Madness 3 is a must-have for any racing driving fanatic on original Xbox.
In KOTOR, the prices go down the more often you visit the Rodian on the Yavin Station
Rodians are a dirty subspecies
I remember playing the DLC for Counter Strike and having such a great time and then moving to CS1.6 on PC.

What I loved about DLC during this era too was that most of it eventually became free for everyone
For SURE would love to see more of these DLC reviews! Great commentary as always!
Thanks! More on the way!

Fun fact, Inferno and Leviathan were also in Unreal Tournament 2003 and 2004 as base maps.
Thank you for that info!
It's nice to go over the original Xbox Live. I missed out on it back in the day, so it's cool to see what it was all about.
Was just watchin today's video but this is what i was really stoked on. As such, i came back here to finish this up first. Thanks😊
Thanks for watching!
9:53 - that Concept car sure looks inspired by a light cycle
OG Battlefront 2 DLC was the first DLC I ever purchased
Perfect day for a video like this, thank you!

Not sure if it counts but Halo 2 had bonus maps released exclusively on a separate physical disk
Fun video definitely could watch more
Conflict: Desert Storm 2 also has DLC
damn thats wild. I loved conflcit and thought i knew everything.... so was it just some outfits? i just youtubed it.

Yeah I believe so? I might have to test it out and see how close it is
@campxbox beware the Vampire babes with SMGs or whatever the hell
Xbox was truly a pioneer in gaming 💚 still hoping for a comeback.
Great video! What's your gamertag on Insignia? I'm always looking to play some Unreal Championship, ALWAYS a great time!
Glad you enjoyed! I'm CampXbox on Insignia.

More DLC videos. This great, visual preservation
I still have the KITOR DLC on my Xbox.
Nice! Definitely something worth keeping!
cs_office is one of my favorite counter strike: source maps of all time
Love the channel
Glad you enjoy it! Thanks for watching!
Your username 🤨
Wonder if the content from the KOTOR DLC was added to the PC and mobile versions.
I know it was in the PC version and the B/C version. Not sure about mobile.
I heard KOTR has all the dlcs included if you play it on a xbox one or series console but im not sure if thats true
@@mr.curtis6730 It's true and a great addition
Very original subject.

Does the shark kill you if you jump in that water?
Yes it does lol
Shocked you didn’t do halo 2
That will get a video by itself because it's so important.
I think the first DLC I ever downloaded were DLC maps for Mechassault
So many amazing memories with CS, but everyone loved the Miami map. If someone changed the map, many people would leave.

Not sure what regions but yes you could download these off of Xbox Live
If I install the Kotor DLC to my soft modded xbox, will Yavin station pop up on my existing saved game? Or will I have to restart a new game save to access it?
It will pop up on your existing save
@ thanks 👌🏼
Could one actually still obtain any of these dlcs today?
Yes, DLC that was free at the time in distributed through Insignia, And paid DLC can easily be found online with a google search
One does not simply "obtain one of these discs"

Silly question but what’s DLC?
It’s downloadable content
Can u tell me how download midtown madness 3 dlc on orginal xbox !?
Google, original xbox DLC, first website up on the top. You transfer the files to your xbox and after that just use the installer.
chat, dont forget top spin 1 started on this console.
I’m surprised neither of these videos have discussed Halo 2, considering its DLC pack is probably the biggest and most well-known on the console.
That one is getting its own video
No Ninja Gaiden hurricane packs😮
No toxic grind dlc 😢
the og xbox had so many 720p and 1080 i games
Do you think it would’ve been more fun with cacti instead of cactuses 😂
Doh! 🙃
@ just messing with you, good video as always.
Just remember Halo 2 is #1
I plan on doing a deep dive into the Halo 2 DLC in its own video. Really great stuff there!
Halo 2 dlc 💨 😢
Or should I say expansions *
Remember when Xbox was good?
