- Today I'm having a #FirstTimeReaction to #Wishmaster by #Nightwish !!
My ever first reaction with #AnetteOlzon so I did find it interesting to finally hear her voice! Be kind in the comments, please, as I know that some of you aren't fans of her. Obviously after Tarja, Anette is very different in her style and it goes without saying that we are very spoiled with Floor. But they are also very different performers, not only in their voice but also how they present themselves on stage. Fine, I've only seen this one performance with Anette but there is enough there to realise that they have 3 very distinct styles on stage and I will not pit one against the other as they aren't doing the same (apart from being the lead singer of Nightwish 😅).

I like Tarja for being Tarja, Anette for being Anette and Floor for being Floor. How lucky the band has had three fine women leading it.
I love all three singers. And Anette is an amazing singer. But her voice was sometimes to week for Nightwish songs. Especially from the Tarja era. It's not easy to sing those songs if you don't have an opera voice like Tarja.
So for me it's always "HAT OFF" for what Anette did for and with Nightwish.
I feel Anette gets a bad wrap by some people, which she does not deserve, IMO. You cannot compare any of their singers as all have different styles and all are part of a magical group called NIGHTWISH. I like them all. Not many reactors do her songs, mores the pity. Appreciate your reaction to her. ❤️🤘🇦🇺
If you react to songs that Tuomas wrote specifically for Annette, you'll see that she's really a fine singer in her own right. By no fault of her own, she was thrust into a situation where she was asked to fill an enormous pair of shoes. My first exposure to Nightwish was through Annette and she sang her heart out trying to tackle Tarja's parts.
Honestly, my favorite version of Wishmaster.
I never found a decent live recording with Annette but quality apart she sounds good enough. I have friend who saw her live with Nghitwish more than once and he likes her.
Anette is brilliant but amazing in the studio.
Tuomas would not write for her if she wasnt any good
Try Eva or Meadows of Heaven.Which are absolute class.
By having Tarja and Anette we have THREE fantastic Eras of awesomness
Floor is of course total Nightwish and Tuomas dream
actually there are many unanswered questions on that because she does not perform or sing well Live & there were several better singers that auditioned at that time
I actually like Anette on this song. she sounds good; obviously different but different doesn’t equate bad! I feel like her performances just get swept under the bus because she’s automatically deemed “bad”. it’s a shame. she wasn’t the best with Tarja songs because well… she isnt an opera singer, so it sounds *off* I also think people don’t realize they never did a recording with her like End Of An Era or Wacken which are both edited/mixed for DVDs.. where minor imperfections/hiccups are drowned out and the sound is perfected. which isn’t a bad thing but there’s a difference between raw sound from a concert/festival vs it being mixed and mastered. If you compare it to some recordings from festivals where they aren’t professional recorded/mixed… I give it to Anette; she did pretty well!
Yes I was surprised,she did a phenomenal job on this. I believe I heard her sing live for the first time and it was AWFUL so I'm really glad I watched this.

My favorite Nightwish song/performance AT THE MOMENT is
"DEAD TO THE WORLD" Live at Summer Breeze 2002 remastered. One reason being that I just "found" the video or realized how good it is, how much I like it. Very much underrated Nightwish song to my mind. I'm trying not to listen to it too many times, but it's difficult, the whole band is doing a great job having fun on stage. Tarja and MARKO! on vocals.
"Meadows of Heaven" album version with a fan made video with lyrics and beautiful landscapes is a great one. Beautiful, emotional song. One of the most underrated Nightwish songs.
I think it is a crane in the thumbnail, a big bird anyway.
Anette at her best live: "Slow Love Slow" Montreux Jazz Festival 2012. Different from any other Nightwish songs.

Thanks for this 🙈 Discovered Nightwish with Tarja, loved songs like wishmaster, wish i had an angel, over the hills, ever dream etc. Was shocked when they dumped Tarya, dumped them as Annette wasn't delivering the Nightwish mood, especially live, and joined the army again after hearing Nightwish 2.0 with Floor. And now seeing vids where Tarya and Floor are performing together... 🥰🥰🥰
There was some things I liked Anettee did, but there are just some songs I prefer from Floor and Tarja
I think the best anette song with nightwish, and for me it isn't an easy choice because I prefer her to tarja or floor, is meadows of heaven. That song really can make anyone cry, and anette's sweet voice is just perfect
Just a random observation, I find it interesting that in a way the singing styles are parallel to the cloths they wear. Tarja often wear long flowing dresses that you can wear as a solo singer in a classical concert or at a ball or important dinner. Anette wears more simple clothes, what she wears here she could wear in the streets. Floor wears outfits designed for her that only work on stage, with both classical and modern elements.
The two recordings with Floor out there on RUclips (Japan and Rock in Rio) are very simular in quality, so no preference from me. It's always a difficult discussion based on preferences, I suppose. I "grew up" with Floor and to me it's the complete packet. Though, I've respect for all singers of Nightwish and hey, it's still Nightwish....😇
Should check out her own band the dark element she did good it would be hard to fill tarja shoes
Two performances of Anette I would definitely recommend are Slow, Love, Slow live at the Montreux Jazz Festival 2012, and her version of Planet Hell, which I actually prefer out of the 3 singers versions - a studio quality recording with video from a rehearsal, showing them having some fun as well

Thanks for this; I enjoyed hearing how Anette adapted this to her voice. It may not be my favorite rendition of the song but I did enjoy it. My suggestions for live performances not on the concerts you’re planning to cover later: ‘Gethsemane’, live on Finnish tv in 1999 for a look at a very young Nightwish:

Well, well Constanza, you're looking like you've got a rough/wild night 😜. Just kidding. Thanks for doing Anette, although she's not my favourite Nightwish singer. Studio YES, live NO. To "poppy" for the Nightwish songs. But ...... it's the Nightwish experience ..... Tarja .... Anette ...... Floor. "Newbies" need to see/hear all three of them and make up their mind for themselves.

One of the most difficult Nightwish songs, especially if you're going to go after the way Tarja did it. Anette does really beautifully other songs, and she does okay with this song, but man the difficulty level is so high, and how Nightwish audience is used to hear this with those clean operatic vocals.
I appreciate Anette. I think her vocals bring life and emotions to songs Floor or Tarja can't do, she brings so much variation to her clean vocals. Yeah Floor doesn't do this song. She sings most Nightwish songs with a smooth even tone, and that just won't do with Wishmaster.
And now you know why so many prefer Floor. And yes she has sung this.
I like Floors version from the NW conzert in Rio but the best version is Tarjas from the End of an era conzert in 2005
@@wernergatterer2953 each to his own I guess. I prefer the flexibility and empathy of Floor's singing as a member of the band. Tarja seems much happier solo with total control nowadays.

Many maybe, but I have to tell you: I listen to nightwish only with anette singing (her or tarja's songs does not matter), and especially I do not listen to nightwish with floor (expect Sagan)

Hi! This was the first time for me to see Anette singing "Wishmaster". I like Floors version from the Rock in Rio or from the Japan conzert. But the best live version is Tarjas from the "End of an Era" conzert in 2005. I never write bad things about Anette, on the 2 NW albums with her are many really good songs and i wish her only the best but i don't like her live. Tastes are different but i'm really surprised that someone told you Anettes version was the best live version of this song, if you have time look Tarjas version from the "End of an era" conzert and you see the best version of "Wishmaster". Bye!
I don’t think anybody told Constanza this was “the best version” she just wanted to give Anette a chance. she even said in the video she chose this song to hear Anette… as well as the fact that she heard Tarja sing it in the past.
@@InBottles i think there are better live songs with Anette than Wishmaster. I understand it false first time, she said she will do an Anette song and somewone write do an reaction of Wishmaster but not do Wishmaster with Anette, my mistake.

Does Anette have the operatic voice of Tarja, no. Does she have the live vocal endurance of Floor, no. Was she good live. absolutely. For me her live performance of Poet and the Pendulum ruclips.net/video/T8vCmmY2ISE/видео.html will never get the attention of the classic Floor Wembley performance but is just as beautiful.
This song is really hard to perform live, it's fine but studio version really makes a difference. Floor doesn't sound too good either in this song, it's one of the few songs that only Tarja could sing on point in my opinion. Even though i love it, i'm glad they ended up taking it out of their setlists, i don't think the band was happy performing it beyond an act of nostalgia

I can only put it this way, if I only had ever heard nightwish live with Annette - I wouldn't be a fan. She makes the whole outfit sound dreadful. Like many things, a band is only as good as the weakest member, and boy was she the weakest member. That doesn't make her a bad person, or open for abuse, but it does mean she's not a good live performer, being good in the studio these days means absolutely nothing, a good engineer will make anyone sound good
