Just chiming in to agree that you should definitely check out VoicePlay's most recent release, Hoist the Colors, if you want to see another epic production. While Geoff is absolutely part of the bones of the that piece, I thought it really allowed the upper range singers a chance to shine as well. And honestly, since you've been on hiatus VoicePlay keeps outdoing themselves with every subsequent video, and Hoist the Colors is no exception to that- they just keep getting better, and stronger, and their arrangements are evolving as well. What an amazing group of supremely talented vocalists!
This is my favorite of all their videos I've seen, bar none. Awesome character expression, both vocally and visually, and Geoff on lead was a total no-brainer. Layne's arrangement was epic! Did you see their new one yet? "Hoist the Colours". They did a great treatment of it. Love your reaction style! Also, I'm not much of a TB fan myself so no worries about a lost sub here! Keep on doing what you do here and we'll just let Geoff do...Geoff.
VoicePlay has had a lineup change since this (one of my faves, too). I see Hoist the Colours has been recommended several times already, so I'm throwing in my vote for If I Were a Rich Man/Girl which is just a tad older. It's the old Fiddler on the Roof tune with a bit of a twist, and I think it's absolutely wonderful. VoicePlay outdid itself with both of those, just like it did with this one. I've never seen the Tim Burton movie (or any others, I don't think) but I looked up the clip of this song and I think I got spoiled by VP and Geoff's spine tingling bass notes. Maybe if I'd seen the movie first...
This is the one Tim Burton film you should watch. It's the most "mainstream" of them all. Great story, great music, and great performances. And the stop motion is just wonderful. If you watch it, you'll understand just who Eli, Earl, J., and Layne represent. If nothing else, check out the originals for the 4 Nightmare Before Christmas songs VoicePlay has covered.
Completely agree. I am not the biggest Burton fan myself, but this one I grew up with and it is a really fun Halloween/Christmas movie. There is definitely some surreal stuff, but not as bad as some of his other stuff. Plus there are 3 more songs in there that Voiceplay might be covering this year (I kinda doubt it, they got the best ones already, but who knows)
I love this video too, SH !!.....and i love it every time i watch !!.......but the movie is now one of my favs and i wish you would give it a chance.....it's cute, a bit eerie, but you will understand the video even more....if ur a holiday lover like i am, i believe you will enjoy it. It should be coming more and more to tv channels when October comes along.

Also, you should turn on the captions to this particular video the next time you watch it. When Geoff hits that low note at the end, the caption to it is FUNNY!
