My Grandma did this. She had an immaculate home. She also decluttered each season and she was ruthless. I want to be my Grandma!
Holy cats, I want to be your Grandma!!
Can I be your grandma too?! I love that so much, I'm still trying to get rid of stuff I have been decluttering since this season a year ago. Hahahahaha
I want to be your grandma ❤
And you can using this routine. It takes everything in baby steps and starts very easily. Using quick routines to keep you in track while you go and don't rush it.
I want to be your Grandma too ❤
"Why cant I be lazy and have nice things!?" Yeah..this is me 100% 😆
In my case, it's "OK, looking great after cleaning__how long can it stay that way before I have to do it again?" 😱😛😹💖🙌😺
@@debracisneroshhp2827 aaaah.... I so relate! 😂🥳😼
Me too!
Not sure why I laughed so hard. Oh I know… because this is exactly how I feel!!!
Realizing it's me, too wahhhh😂😂😂
This is one of my favorite videos you’ve done. Not because of the tips, but because of how authentic you are. You’re funny and real and a joy to learn from. Thank you!
This is what came to say! She is so authentic! I love her!!
Your cleaning babbling is THE BEST! I talk like that too! Also I just made a cleaning chart for myself last week! It is very close to this. Great minds! Hopefully it helps and I can stick to it- the laziness is strong in me.
Agree 100%!! So refreshing!
This is not cleaning, it's a mess!!!Unexpectabl 😮😮😮
"Why can't I be lazy & have nice things!" Love your work Cas! From a fellow ADHDer I'm going to give this routine a try 😅
That one hit me in my feels. Why oh why can’t I have offspring and have still have nice things? 🤔
I feel the same way.
@Dr.JudeAEMasonMD I think I might have had nice things when there was just one offspring but now I have FOUR 😂
I'm screaming with laughter at this video. This is by far the most honest reaction to--and acceptance of--yourself and was adorable to watch! 🤣
Cas, you might want to try the 360 Swiffer duster. BTW, my favorite cleaning routine is the "hire a housekeeper" routine. Lydia comes every week and cleans it all, LOVE IT.
Me too! I like having the whole house clean at once but I don’t have the energy to do that. So I clean by check and can keep it up throughout the week.
I miss Andrea so much…
Cas, you can call a landscaping company and they might be able to figure out drainage solutions. It might be pricey but, it could help.
Paying for help with cleaning can also be a great disability accommodation for ADHD or any condition that affects executive function or physical mobility/energy. When so much of life is on hard mode, it makes sense to accept help with the things we can so we have more juice leftover for everything else! : - )
P.S. I used to hate cleaning so much that the thought of paying someone else to do such a supposedly "awful" task seemed icky to me. But someone I know with multiple degrees and a prestigious career told me she was thinking of cleaning for money when she retired because she LIKES it and wanted something to keep busy and make a little extra! Mind blown! ; - D
I also have a friend who finds cleaning satisfying who supported her young kids while she was in college by cleaning houses because it was flexible and paid better than other jobs that don't require a degree.
You never know if paying someone to do what you find difficult might just be an important blessing in their life!
Rain x has a shower door product that is probably a little safer to use.
I'm a Flybaby. Been doing Flylady's system (zone cleaning) since 2000 and have never looked back. Now that I no longer work outside of the home, I did switch to a Laundry Day vs. a load every day. I've found that decluttering and Flylady's zones and daily routines work best for me.
Love 💕 the FlyLady system! Really works!
I'm a relatively new flylady follower too, and I am really seeing progress in my daily/weekly routines.
I love Flylady! I combine hers with Clean Mama.
I don't think FlyLady fits in just one category. She has daily stuff which is more of a flit around cleaning what needs to be (hot spots), in some ways she has tasks by assigning each day a task, and then the zones are monthly for the deep cleaning.
I personally don't like the FlyLady system because it about killed me when I had 5 little kids. I felt like all I did was clean and change diapers. Now the idea of doing her system is still overwhelming. I have about 15 minutes then I have to rest for 2 to 3 hours. If kids didn't do the dishes, then I do the dishes in that time. In my second 15 minutes, I get to work on whatever "weekly task" I have up next. If I'm lucky I get a 3rd 15 minutes to work in a zone decluttering or deep cleaning.
I love fly lady
I'm pretty sure the people you bought the house from had to disclose if the house ever flooded and it sounds like they had to have an issue also. Definitely worth checking into. Of course weird weather events are unpredictable.
Yes about needing to disclose. In the U.S. you would have recourse against the seller to cover some of the cost to remedy, i.e. french drain. Not sure about Canada. Good luck, Cas, with figuring out a solution.
@@LadyRed31😢😢😢
Wow! In the US it’s illegal for the developer, seller and realtor to fail to disclose something as consequential as flooding on the property. That cannot have been unknown to the property developer. It would result in a huge lawsuit here.
Indeed Canada has disclosure rules too! Absolutely worth having a conversation with your Realtor if you were not told, there is recourse! Not your bad, just not allowed!
They bought a house in a floodplain. This is not an issue with the house; it’s with the location which they were aware of being a floodplain. Anyone buying in a floodplain or anywhere should have emergency preparedness plans. It’s unfortunate that Cas went through this so quickly after buying the house, but hopefully they will be better prepared if or when it happens again.
Great video as usual 🙂! I would speak to a lawyer about the flooding . Obviously the sellers should have disclosed this issue…
And obviously that’s why they sold it the time of year they did … no evidence the water level would appear a danger.
I agree. That is nuts!!
I agree. They have been scamed. Owners must legally disclose and that includes repairs. Lawyer tome and move out. Beautiful home but it has to be full of mold. Have a specialist in to investigate for Mold, foundation issues, insulation mold etc etc. Now! Get a high level experienced Layer specializing in real estate fraud , non disclosure and serious home health issues.
Realtor in the US here... so don't know Canadian law, but was there a Seller Property Condition Report where ANYTHING that has been a problem/issue with the property (remedied or not) is disclosed so as to prevent lawsuits??... I would see if you have such a document with your paperwork and/or if you were supposed to have such a document and contact a lawyer and possibly your realtor accordingly.
Also be mindful of water issues during the wintertime when the ground is frozen and you get that 1 fluke warm day in February or March and all your snow melts and the resulting water has nowhere to sink into the ground.... contact landscaper regarding a swale or French drain.
The whole shower-cleaning montage had me cackling! Thank you for this motivating and hilarious video, Cas! 😂❤
When she did the new house tour and I saw that huge beautiful bathroom,I was saying to myself,” No,no,no,just walk away, never!” 😅😂🤣😵💫😖😫
@@lauramitchell6725 same here; but in particular the shower. The floor of the shower looks brutal lol.
Let alone the clear glass, shower door - not enough privacy lol… sure is an absolutely gorgeous home though :-)
@@lisaschooler9992 Oh,absolutely,should have made that clearer,THE SHOWER!😵💫😫😬😖
The pause before, "I'm wearing socks." 😂
"Why can't i be lazy AND have nice things?" YESSSS! I can relate to that statement! LOL
"Why can't I be lazy and have nice things?" Oh my gosh, so good. 😂 I laughed for 5 minutes! I feel ya!!!
After your experience with the flooding, do you plan on contacting an engineer to see if they can build something to keep the water away from the house the next time it floods?
You need French drain around the home and major landscaping drainage. Have you contacted a lawyer- IF this wasn’t disclosed to you when you purchased the house- you have a case- this isn’t the first time the flooding occurred.
Angela Brown’s channel has THE BEST videos on cleaning blinds and cleaning baseboards. She has lessons for 1st time, deep clean and then maintenance cleans- so you don’t have to do deep clean.
Get a TineCo vacuum mop- you mop and vacuum at the same time. Say you spill a bowl of milk and cereal- just pull out the Tineco and it’s vacuums and cleans it all up and the same time. The Tineco will tell you when the brush roller needs cleaning and when the clean water tank is empty and when then dirty water tank is full. It works on all types of floors just not carpet. PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS so you can maintain the machine to last the longest. I have the top model 7S Pro- it cleans right up to the baseboards on each side of the roller. it has quick 3 minute self cleaning cycle for the roller and tubes and a big 6 minute self cleaning cycle. It’s cordless and lasts about 45 minutes per charge. It gives you a visible ring that changes colors to let you know where the unseen dirt is and will automatically increase cleaning power. You still have to empty clean the dirty tank. I also extra clean the roller and roller cover- I have dogs.
I also have one of these and it is absolutely amazing. Why do your floors twice when you can just do it once. Also so much cleaner. With a mop you are just moving the dirty mop around and it spins so fast its so much more than one pass over with a mop. The best invention ever.@@Mushkiepotamus
Thanks for the back yard update. There has to be some recourse for you. About the cleaning routine, yes, I have one, certain days I do specific tasks… not in the same order as you, but it works for me.
Every morning I like to watch a short comedy video to get my day started on a happy note. Today I decided to watch this video and, Cass, it was hysterical. I am an awful house cleaner and have just never found any routine I could stick with. This clean mama one looks just perfect for me. Maybe it’s because you made it look so fun. Thank you for keeping your videos real. Love you for that.
My cleaning routine just keeps evolving, depending on my schedule. The thing that has made whatever my routine is at the time WAY EASIER was decluttering and eliminating lots of furniture pieces that were just holding unnecessary stuff. Less stuff, less to clean, happy me.
For the shower, try having an extra Towel just for drying the shower. Faster and easier than squeegee, and actually removes the moisture better too!
I'm with you, too lazy to squeegee, but a towel dry I will do!
Wholeheartedly agree with the extra Towel. This works!!!
I concur towel is best
This is interesting. I’ve just had a new shower put in and I’ve been squeegeeing every time but I’d love a quicker solution. Do you use a microfibre cloth or just an ordinary towel?
Yes! I bought the 30 pack of microfibers from Walmart's automotive dept. so I could keep in the bathroom for this particular reason and it is THE BEST! They soak up water sooo good. Great for when my kids treat the tub like the waterpark, too! Then I just hang it over my faucet to dry when I'm all done. We keep a small fan that sits on the counter because our ceiling fan doesnt work, and point it directly into the shower and it helps dry all my towels and keeps the mildew smell out. Highly recommend the fan even if your vent one works. It goes into the bottom linen cabinet when it's dry.
Also, I keep all my dirty microfibers in a sack in laundry room until I have load of them. As they don't need much soap to wash, and you're not supposed to use heat at all on them so it usually takes 2-3 hours in the dryer with no heat.
A squeegee takes the same amount of time as a towel. I don’t have a glass shower door, but I do wipe down my shower walls after I shower. I squeegee, my husband uses a microfiber towel.
Cas, you always brighten my day every time but your description of Joe 'working the pumps like a boss' I lost it 😂
She's gd hilarious!!!
This has to be the most relatable cleaning video I’ve ever seen 😂 And you’re looking fantastic, Cas!
😊 thank you
I think you underestimate my laziness! Cas, you are my ray of sunshine and Unicorn in the morning 😂❤
As a single working Mom, I used to clean everything on Saturday. My Mom did the same. It worked at that time. Now, I am retired and about to turn 70. I recently found Clean Mama. Her system works so much better for me now. Especially for people with physical challenges (and squirrel syndrome) Clean Mama is kinder to my body.
Oh wow I will try it out.
Ooh I have to look into this "clean mama" more, if my squirrel syndromes don't make me instantly forget once I click off this comment (likely 😩) because I used to also do big whole house cleans, decluttering and moving all my furniture around etc over a weekend every few months when I'd just get so hyperfocused and motivated (either out of boredom or purely sick of its state before the weekend overhaul lol!) But after having my kiddo and running my business at home etc it's not working at all, I try to start and get derailed way too quickly either by my own lack of focus or by my kiddo, or whatever random life thing that comes up and then it gets completely dropped for too long until repeat yikes lol!
Thanks. I'll check it out. I'm 60 but also have significant joint problems and some days...well, they're just tough. Some days all I can do is wipe my kitchen bench and bathroom sink. Little but often is the go.
Cas,
Loved this video. I have a suggestion for you. Try Norwex cleaning cloths, along with their polishing cloth. It cleans as a wet dust cloth as well as the micro fiber cloth for windows, mirrors and I’m sure it would work for glass shower doors. I don’t have glass shower doors so I can’t say for sure. Nothing compares to cleaning windows and doors with them. You just use water and no product. Try them, you won’t believe it! My husband is always the skeptic until he cleaned windows with me.😁
I think I seen her holding a FlyLady purple rag and they are excellent for cleaning glass & mirrors also.
I used to be a Weekend Warrior but now I’m more of a daily speed cleaner. It’s funny, so many people say I must clean all the time and I really don’t. I fool them by being tidy and organized 😉. I hope you can get your drainage sorted out before winter so that you don’t have to deal with flooding next Spring 😬
Okay. This video was absolutely perfect! It has been a tough season for me and your humor alongside your cleaning tips was so needed. Thank you for being a light and being such a joy!
You are so welcome!
Yes furnace filter and you need to clean your vacuum! Change the bag, clean the vacuum filter, get all the hair and strings out of the beater bar. Use a wire hanger that you have opened up and clean out the hoses... Vacuum maintenance is important and necessary and will make your vacuum smell better and last longer!
I’ve had a cleaning business for 15 years and using Dawn Powerwash will take care of the whole shower and does a wonderful job of taking the soap scum off of the glass shower doors.
You mean the dawn power wash dish soap? Also... how do you use it, spray, leave it on for a few mins & rinse off?
Oh, do tell us more!
Waiting for details...😂🙏
Great on kitchen appliances too 😊
You are my all time favorite "home" guru. Love your sense of humor, honesty and tips and tricks. Have all of your books as well as season of your show on my dvr! Keep being you Cass, you're amazing. ❤from down the highway, in St. Catharines..🇨🇦
Mental Note -> always go to look at houses near water the day after heavy rains end 😢
Right? Her personality is so freaking wonderful it's just contagious through the screen. Motivating just watching and hearing her adorable hilariousness
Cas + chemicals = 😂😂 lol. "Sorry Earth."
I adapted your clutterbug speed cleaning routine to my needs, it has been an amazing inspiration. And I have weekly, 2weekly and 4weekly cycles with the tasks I don't do on a daily basis. Thank you Cas, you have a big impact on how I handle my household and how I NOT FEEL OVERWHELMED by it.
Fly Lady routine has been doing it for me. I loved "That Awkward Mom's" video of Clean Mama vs Fly Lady, and decided I'd try Fly Lady :) long live the swiffer duster!!!
Need to check that out.
Hi Cas, for scrubbing the bath floor I use my drill with scuffing head 😂. You should put a QR code on those cleaning tips so your kids can just scan it and have a video of mom motivating them ❤
Omg. For all of us! Stickers with video qr codes to put around house! Love this!
How do you do that?
How do you do that?
Hi, there’s actually an app that will do that for you. We have QR code on the fridge for our wifi pass code. Now I don’t get bothered every time I need to recall the password. Look for qr app. You than add a link to a website or just add wifi password etc. Amazon also sells a QR code for organizing bins. You place the sticker on the bin and than when you scan the QR code the images of contents of the bin pop up. ❤ it’s $10 I believe.
@@mr.a. love that, can also do in canva as well
Hi Cas! I use to be a weekend warrior. I want to be a zone cleaner but I end up “SQUIRREL”. 😅Thanks Cas for all you do!! I enjoy you so much😊
You are so welcome!
I’m sure you guys are working on a permanent solution for the water in your yard because your house shouldn’t cause you ptsd! It’s too beautiful and has so many great spaces. 😊 and just think, down the road you can always redo the bathroom with materials that require less work and maintenance. We’re with you!
Love your humor and never a weekend warrior. I enjoy doing the clean mama routine. I just purchased your book and a coarse. You are number 1 on my list to watch and learn from about maintaining our home. So relatable and inspiring, thank you.
I feel you on the flooding of the basement. I came home twice to a burst bathroom pipe that flooded the entire house, whilst I was at work. My friend and her son came over to lend some assistance and I am telling you it was quit a job sweeping and mopping that water. I would not wish that on my worst enemy.
Shop Vac... Man's best friend in those situations!
Hi Cas, Love your videos. I am 74 and I have allocated days for cleaning. Linens is Thursday. I am a lifelong minimalist and always on the lookout for new ways to simplify life.I feel that I have my routines off to a fine art but still pick up amazing tips from you. Being retired I can be flexible or not do nothing at all :))
Cas, I have to say I really like your painting on your Tuesday dusting day. When you were standing there it perfectly framed your face while you were talking. It was like stardust flying out in the background! I like your style fast and done. Thank you
I love your new home, and the way you have decorated!
I use my own checklist. It doesn’t matter what day, what time, etc. So long as everything on the list is done once a week (minimum).
This way, I clean whenever I have time, and the list keeps me focused and tracks the to do’s for me.
If I can’t get something done done one week, that’s the task I’ll start with the next week.
And yes, I include monthly and biweekly tasks in my weekly list. I just check them off on my future week lists whenever they’re completed. Which makes me feel accomplished when I start a new week that has several items already checked off as completed. 😊
I’m beginning to think I need to create lists like this too!
This video is pure joy. You say all the things we all think. You are delightful.
Giiiirl you need to get more credit. The spray mop is one of the best things i've ever bought. Cleaning our old kitchen and bathroom finally doesn't feel daunting anymore. You should get "most legit channel" award
The stuff that comes with mop for the spray builds up. Does water and vinegar?
Oh my goodness. I've been suffering with a smelly vacuum. After watching this, I put a cotton ball of essential oils inside it and it smells amazing!! Wow! Thank you Cas!
You're so welcome!!
One of the biggest game changers for me was a 15 minute tidy everyday. Set a timer for 15 minutes and put things away, take dirty dishes into the kitchen, grab laundry from the bathroom floor and toss it into the hamper, etc. it’s like the grown up version of the big comfy couch ten second tidy 😂 having a timer set makes it really easy to find motivation to get started because for my ADHD brain, 15 minutes feels like so much less than half an hour. Then by the end of it I’m ready and feel motivated to tackle the daily task!
That's FlyLady style. 😺
I need to get back to doing this!
Totally agree this makes such a difference with ADHD! And it's even better since I discovered Temptation Bundling. Listening to music or a podcast or immediately rewarding myself with guilt-free TV time or RUclips makes me associate cleaning with positive feelings for the first time in my life!
YES!!! 😃💪💕
You in the bathroom shower was the absolutely best thing ever. And always love the story time at the end. 😂🥰
Our back yard floods too but if your kids like to ice skate, you'll have an awesome rink in the winter!!! We have our own rink after the first January rain and/or snow melt. 😂
"Lemonade, with lemons"__EXCELLENT!!! 😱😛😹😹😹💖🙌😺
Great idea!!
I use a modified (switched to meet my schedule) version of your earlier weekly schedule. It was revolutionary. There are days that I get off schedule, but on schedule, I am golden!
Truth: I confess the cleaning method that has always worked best for me is to dial up a cleaning service go get my nails done then return to a clean house. I have been adding in the clean mama routine to keep the cleaning call down though.
“Why can’t I just be lazy and have nice things??” 😂❤❤❤ my thoughts, exactly!!
“Why can’t I have nice things and also be lazy??” Ugh. Same, girl.
Oh my, your new home experience is exactly as ours has been. We did plenty of research, but never counted on having to replace so much in a short period of time. Fingers crossed we are at the end, we do love the house and we are enjoying the beauty, but for sure PTSD.(the other night I heard the sprinkler go off at an odd time, I assumed a water main break. I run around, hubby assures me he changed the sprinkler. And yes hurricane hit here within 3 weeks of move in, I so get it)
Oh Cass, you had me almost peeing my pants with the bathroom shower scene.....thank you. I needed that to show me it doesn't only happen to me! LOL Of course I stayed to the end. I always do! Keepin' it real and I love it -keep up the great work. Your forever fan Susan from Northern Ontario Canada 👋🤓
This video is making me happy I have my old fashioned tub and fabric shower curtain. 🤣
MEEE, TOO! 💖🙌😺
Lol
Honestly this video is my favorite so far. The bloopers, and the real life of it is so great. I've sprayed myself cleaning the shower so I feel your pain. I'd love more of these types.
Cash, you cleaning the bathroom was comedic gold, even before you got wet. Thanks for the info as well as the 😂
Lol, when you did the house tore, my thoughts "oh she isn't going to like cleaning that bathroom" I just bought a smaller house and I love it! My last house was big and I hated cleaning it.
❤
👍
I’m doing a “tiny task” list where I just do something random from the list whenever I’m waiting for the coffee to brew or I’m listening to a podcast or whatever. So I’m like, “what am I supposed to be doing? Oh let me look at the list.” And I pick something small like wipe out the microwave or throw the sheets in the wash or clean the toilet. And I do it as quickly as possible and sometimes even time myself. It’s been SUPER helpful. You are so hilarious and I relate HARD to this video 😂❤️
Fellow Rain PTSD survivor here. I live on a small lot, neighborhood of small lots. Being in the middle and lower, yeah, my backyard becomes a bog. I spent years taking shifts having to shop vac puddles out of my basement every time it rained until I could have a french drain & sump pump system put in...and now I have water in the wall because water started collecting elsewhere. Good luck, friend 💜
Great ideas as always but I tend to mix and match depending on what’s going on.
Omg the flooding, I’m not surprised you’ve ptsd, I’d be the same. You will definitely have to get someone out to get advice on what can be done. Have a great week of sunshine. Mary, Joes wife 🙇♀️👏👍💪🙏💐🦮
Love waking up to a Clutterbug notification, am in Australia, you brighten up my day and my husband just loves your sense of humour ❤
I am 69 years old, and I had always cleaned my own home. I once had a 5000 square foot home and I always deep clean my home every 7 weeks from cleaning all windows inside and out. Moved all my appliances and cleaned the floors and behind them. Polish all furniture and moved them. Wash all linens. All bathrooms cleaned thoroughly. Polish all cabinets and doors. I always reorganized all closets and drawers and cleaned them. Once my home was cleaned, I had taken everything out of the garage and washed the epoxy floor. I now have a 2200 square foot home and I do every 7 weeks. I was a nurse in my younger days and worked on a surgical floor. If you google why people don't like to clean it's because they are lazy, I even put together yearly yard sales when I declutter. I am not overweight and in good shape/health because I keep busy. I swim for 1 hour 3 days a week. People choose their Lifestyle. I want a peaceful home to come home to and not be chaotic.
I hated our glass shower so much the next house we bought no glass shower was in my must not have list 😂 prefer the shower curtain any day of the week.
Not even half way through and I havent laughed so hard all week! Thank you Cas, I needed this!
I second that i was cracking up...
I found it really helpful to be sure I have 2 sets of sheets for each bed room with the second set kept in the room. I strip and then remake beds the beds immediately. When the sheets are done, just fold and return t the bedroom closet. No trying to remake 4 beds at the end of the day when I am tired and the rooms look good all day
I know the feeling about every time it rains. I use to Geel that way every time it was really windy at our old house because our house was surrounded by trees and every year we lived there a tree fell. The last year we were there a tree side swiped our house taking out our gutter causing our basement to flood. Never will I live in a house next to trees!
omg you are having too much fun. i’m going through a deep depression right now and you had me laughing and smiling. i can’t tell you how long it’s been. totally entertaining.
Also, I've tried the task master style, but get discouraged if i miss a day. Thinking about trying a task looping system so no matter what day it is you just go on to the next task on the list. Would love to see a video on that type of cleaning for people with really unpredictable "schedules"😅
That is EXACTLY what I do! I have my tasks broken down (i.e. my list isn't just "bathroom", it is toilette, sink, mirror, bathtub, floor, then it is each part of the kitchen - appliances, counters, dishes, etc.) - I do this for each room of the house. So, my 20 minutes a day is just going to that room and checking off the tasks. If I don't finish that room that day, it moves to the next day. For my brain - if I just have bathroom on my list and I don't have time or energy to do the entire bathroom, then I won't even start it. So breaking it down into manageable tasks helps me tremendously. So, that way I'm not stuck to a certain day of the week. My tasks just rotate. Once I get to the bottom, I start all over. 😁
Cas, you should try Norwex window system for your shower. It is super simple - wet with a wet envirocloth and dry with a window cloth.
Game changers for me:
1) "Temptation Bundling" with something FUN during and/or afterwards (podcast, TV, RUclips...)
2) Before I get started, imagining how GOOD I will feel when I'm done
3) Using my beloved Time Timer visual timer for mini "house blessing" sessions instead of marathons
4) Reminding myself that cleaning is EXERCISE (2 for 1! ; - )
5) Keeping a log of how I feel before and after cleaning, and when looking at my clean or dirty house
6) Really noticing and drinking in how GOOD it feels to live in a clean home : - )
Regarding your flooding issue: I am no expert but do have a house with a water table right under it. (Like you, we did not realize this when we bought the house!) I think what you need is a sump pump. You should also have a generator for when the power is out for an extended time, and an extra sump pump in case your current one breaks.
I watched this at 5 am in an airport after a night of not sleeping all night in the airport and laughed so hard I snorted and wheezed and cried. Thank you 😂
This is the question I ask myself often! “Why can’t I just be lazy and have nice things ?!? 😅
:)
Oh, my! I feel for y’all re: the flooding! Been there. Tornadoes too. Terrifying & overwhelming.
Oh Cas I am laughing so hard at your Monday cleaning! One of your best videos and enjoying your humour
Your home and backyard are gorgeous, Cass! I hope you can find a permanent solution to the flooding issue and hope you have flood insurance. I love how real you are about hating certain aspects of your home.
Thanks for always being real and not hiding the little "oopsies" that happen to you. Much needed laughs! Ang great advice. When it comes to cleaning routines I haven't found the ideal one, and I've tried many. I just need a little bit of everything and make my own routine.
“Go little mop, go little mop, go!” 😊
I have an ostrich feather, feather duster. It's also washable if needed. It does an awesome job! Then shake the dust outside. And put it in a vase or umbrella holder in the sun to kill dust mites. :)
Thanks for sharing.
I think my current routine is called procrastination.
Cas, your video made my day. So fun! I have my own tip, really good and perfectly fitting shoes. My ”cleaning shoes” are the most expensive shoes I have. I drink some coffee, put them on and the old lady becomes a decluttering warrior. Oh well, for a while atleast.
"WHY CAN'T I JUST BE LAZY AND HAVE NICE THINGS???"
I felt so understood when you said that 🤣
“Why can’t I be lazy and have nice things”… I felt this in my soul
Hi Cas! Glad to hear your water is going away in your backyard.
I'm really enjoying your videos on your beautiful new home and how you're making it your own! Looking forward to all the tips you will be sharing with us!
I've tried cleaning the entire house on Saturdays. It truly is EXHAUSTING! I'm going to try the lists you have where you do certain things on certain days. And compare them.
I've been trying not to go to bed with dirty dishes in the sink and to clean for 15 minutes each night. I'm still a work in progress. 😊
Cas, you gave me some laugh out loud moments in this video. I tried the Clean Mama system, but found that the Fly Lady system, as explained by Diane in Denmark , suits me better. The part of Clean Mama that I kept were her formulas for creating my own cleaning solutions.
😂😂😂😂😂
You had me rolling!
I have 3 shower buttons for different heads. I always push the wrong one and get wet. Thanks for your hacks hun!
I love this unedited version of you trying things
You’re beyond hilarious Cas and always have the best tips!!! Haha 😂👏🏼
You have a bathroom to die for, Cas. So happy for you and your family and am praying for your family with the water situation.
die for...die from. That floor is a killer! Shiny tiles might look pretty but I can just see myself sliding and breaking something (in me...don't care about the bathroom things that can be fixed within a short space of time!)
For the backyard lake - what about a pond with an overflow creek that goes toward the river?
Best mirror hack is Norwex cleaning cloths! No chemicals necessary, I'm blown away!
As someone with Adhd, you had me crying laughing 🤣🤣🤣 can relate to you so much! the shower 🚿 😂
I hate those showers with a passion! 😣💖🙌😺
My mum has had a coating put on the glass that lasts years. All you have to do is rinse off any soap foam if any goes on the glass and it dries perfectly. It is amazing.
I feel your pain, Cas. I had the same thing happen during the great floods of 2021 in BC. Two inches of water in the basement... my husband was away working... yep, definitely PTSD. 😣 Every time it sprinkled, I panicked. For months. The good thing is you will get through it. We put in a sump pump (outside of all places) and it hasn't rained as hard since! I would say I laugh in the face of rain but I really don't want to tempt fate!
So glad I am not the only one who has to change her cleaning routine because she moved. Also, glad your house survived the flood of 2023. I, too, had PTSD after hurricane Harvey because the next year at the same time of year we had flooding. Every time it rains, man.
BAHAHAHAHA!
Cass, You can squeegee every time you finish in shower. It’s easier than u think. Before you get out of the shower, grab the squeegee that you have hanging in the shower. While standing squeegee across the glass. Then repeat for the lower part of the glass. Hang your squeegee back up inside the shower.
This works on tiles too.
It’s so exciting to find new routines for the new home 😊😊😊 Fresh start!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for the update on your water situation. Really has been worrying me. Our area flooded really bad with hurricane Harvey a few years ago. My house was not flooded but many of my friends were and they have PTSD too every time it rains so I know what you’re talking about
Love Clean Mama routines. And if you miss a day (or week) I just start with the task for whatever day I’m getting back on track. No guilt 😀
I only have Clutterbug and Clean Mama books (decluttered the rest 🥰)
So glad you and your family are safe from the tornado & overcame the flooding issue. I still think the seller should have disclosed the water problems. It’s had to have impacted them too. But on a happy note, your home is beautiful and you are keeping it so tidy!
I guess what I came up with (that's been working!) is a combination of "zone cleaner" and "weekend warrior". I tackle one floor a day every week. So for me, that works out as Monday is first floor, Wednesday is the basement (which is mostly for my hobby and less for cleaning, but I do clean it on that day as well on occasion!), and Friday is the upstairs - linens included! Then dishes and spot-cleaning are daily occurances. Laundry as needed. So yeah, it takes me a couple of hours on those three days... but then I have 4 days that are my flex/project/relaxation days. My particular flavor of neuro-spiciness can't jive with these sorts of cleaning schedules, because things have to be done a certain way, i.e. sweep followed immediately with a mop same-day as a combo, but that follows a "top down" cleaning to knock crumbs and dirt onto the floor first. And sometimes I really need some time doing absolutely nothing...! But so long as it gets done and things don't get ruined in the process, there's no wrong way to clean! Gonna have to try that Rain-X hack!
I absolutely love your story telling! It doesn't matter if it's live like the shower cleaning or your story about the flood at the end, you make me belly laugh! Thanks for being a bright light in my day while sharing great content. I am also very interested in that extension wand for cleaning a couple of corners of my vaulted ceiling. Like you, I love Swiffer products as they trap dog hair and I have two.
Thank you for being REAL. The shower part was so funny yet real.
I've entertained the thought of cleaning the tub and walls while standing inside, RIGHT BEFORE I take my shower, then, squeegying everything before I step out. 😱 It's just too awkward to clean them while leaning over from the outside, possibly splashing water everywhere during the process! 😛💖🙌😺
I used to do daily jobs such as you did in your video when my kids were little and I was home all the time. I had different daily jobs, and then ended the day with a kitchen clean up, house tidy etc. I also found that I needed monthly, seasonal and yearly jobs as well, just to stay on top of things. It was so handy to have a 'checklist' of sorts to go by, to remind me of what needed to be done. Now that I'm older, work every day, I pretty much just clean up only what shows as untidy. My house is too big with just me and my husband. One of these days I will declutter my house to a smaller one.
