I could not get my hand on the HoloLens, so I made my own AR display. More can be found on the Polylens website:

There is no such app, because require root. Android Stock market is sad.
I think a better implementation would be to build a windshield HUD and display traffic directions, AR HUD is the industry name.

you should add a piece of black plastic to seperate left and right sides then in unity use something to create a left and right 3d seperation so you get the true 3d experience like the hololens, i was looking at doing something like this with my 3d printer but wouldn't know where to begin building apps for it

It will be cool to use this with Lenovo Phab 2 Project Tango to make AR with full environment tracking.
It would be amazing, you would have to put a mirror on the top of the phone to reflect the cameras. I am not sure if it would interfere with the depth senscors but i would love to try

The acrylic at 45 degress act like a prism, or mirror, if you will
Support for kinect or a leap motion device would be amazing. That way you could actually manage the environment, but tracking that much pointcloud data may be difficult.
Hey +Plazmaz I have been looking into leap motion and Kinect but don't think its suitable if i want to keep this accessible to a wider audience. Just a quick question, if you wanted to picture a 3d model to simulate virtual stuff in reality, how would you make it for the eye to be able to focus on the 3d object and the background at the same time? I mean, with the screen being that close to the eyes, if you look to the projected object the background looks blurred, and if you look at the background the object looks blurred. I know that in order to picture that object as I want to I would need one screen in front of each eye with different view angles, I just dont know how to make my eyes focus on the 3d object and the background at the same time. There is no need for you to respond, the video was already helpful, thank you!

edit again : a day or two have passed and i've ended up with a pretty good version, i make it display bearing like in an airplane, very cool i'm happy i made one

DAYUM! I think changing the distance between the screen and mirror should give the right focal length I.e. Focus

Did you use somekind of an app that reverses the y-axis of the screen because when you display an image on a mirror then the sides get reversed and you wouldn't read out anything

Use lock rotation
@@chad2293 Take your phone, display some text, go to a mirror, and look at the screen from the mirror, you probably won't read out anything as the text is mirrored. That is what I meant, not rotation, but y-axis reverse

Tristan Bihler I dug into the unity SDK and swapped the head tracking parameters. You could also write a script out of the SDK that controls a separate scene

It is a mirror, microsoft hololens are glacess that can give you the 3D augmented reality

Unity, built on top of cardboard SDK
How did you reversed it sideways
Lots of messing around with the SDK. Effectively you are swapping the compass data around. Since the project the google cardboard SDK has changed a lot, but i cant see why this will not still be possible.
You can use a HoloLens emulator to make it more like HoloLens
