- Mira’s Prism is a $99 headset vying to become the Google Daydream of augmented reality.
Los Angeles-based hardware startup Mira is looking to do for AR what Google Cardboard did for VR.
The $99 Prism headset is a cheap and simple way to bring augmented reality into the home.
The company already has the backing of big names like Sequoia, Marc Benioff and will.i.am to the tune of $1.5 million.
The startup is using the money to develop content for the headset.
The first units are set to ship to developers in Fall, with consumer devices following around the holidays.

The only problem I see is how do you read a text on your phone for example? if it is a reflection of your phone screen it will be unreadable.

how the hell were they using it with a marker when the front facing camera will be a bit distorted from being behind the glass..........and why isn't it like 35 bucks at most
you are right about the price. If this takes off TSA-E-NA will produce knockoffs for 10 $ . Its not that it is so hard to replicate.

True!! This think is expensive at $99. Probably cost them $10 -$15 to fabricate. I think they are using the front camera for tracking and this is awful because the front camera have much less resolution. I think the right price will be $50 - $60.
Honestly you can follow the google cardboard idea and probably make your own template and design if you're working with plastic or glass be very careful not to hurt your self with soldering it.

Honestly it's a cool idea but why can't the glass just be straight and mimick the hololens display do you know how bad you will put hololens out of business for this if you did that and honestly $99 is very steep I can pay for it but I was hoping for something like $50 or so and I am sorry but augmented reality belongs on a phone and with apps like TrinusVR I am sure augmented reality would be hell of a lot cooler.

Yeah, it's not like more people have smart phones than working toilets these days. I mean, the phone is so rare to see out in public these day. You never see someone on their phone in the train, or talking to someone with one while walking down the street. No, that never happens. No wonder these 'phone companies' are not doing amazingly in stocks where they are able to spread into other tech industries like the Apple Macs and the Samsung Galaxy VR. That would be idiotic. No, nobody has a smart phone these days.

No I use android Im fine, your the idiot if you own an iphone though ;) have a look at their website, how hard would it be to make the device adaptable to other smartphones? not very... yet they only support iphone 6 and above, so you know this plastic 'tech' is for people who just like to pay a premium but I guess thats just who you are.
