I just literally made one using an activity tracker with colored LEDs for notifications and it works just as well. I just slot it in a hot glued body made of Polyurethane foam, flexible magnifier and a carved a reflective plastic lens made from a clear coathanger...and...boom!! A smart glasses HUD.
Can your eye focus on an image that close? Wouldn't you need a set of lens to create a virtual image kinda like how some vr headsets are made? But wouldn't that render every object you see past the display out of focus? I'm trying to do something similar but I have serious doubts with using a display to project on glass
Assuming you have a printer or other way to make a chassis, then you could get a mini projector, take out the actual projection system, and then use polycarbonate filament at the right settings.

Is kind of like saying that when people put together a budget gaming PC build for say $450 but then when you try to do the same at the same price or about, then it adds up to having to purchase an OS, microsoft office, security for your PC to protect against malware and viruses, monitor, mouse, keyboard (unless you already have those), editing softwares, etc. So those kind of extra features needed to make a complete PC. Oh yeah and a wifi adapter or an ethernet cable to connect your PC to the internet.

Under-extrusion can cause missing spots, and in this case, uneven surfaces, as the wheel that dispenses the filament into the metal extruder isn't spinning smoothly, and causing uneven amounts of filament to come out.

It can! Because the glass is transparent and the display is solid it takes about 2-5 mins to get used to but you can focus your eye on an object that is abt 10.4 mm away from your eye.
You probably can, but then you would not be paying attention out of the screen and also 2 minutes is not a short amount of time if you are constantly switching your view, making it unpractical.

Can your eye even focus on an object that is so near ?
It can! Because the glass is transparent and the display is solid it takes about 2-5 mins to get used to but you can focus your eye on an object that is abt 10.4 mm away from your eye.
You probably can, but then you would not be paying attention out of the screen and also 2 minutes is not a short amount of time if you are constantly switching your view, making it unpractical.
I think he means that the first couple of minutes using at the first time need to get used to, but then it works fine
Vr headsets has convex lenses that makes it sharper
That's why it has the magnifying lense, it makes the image appear optically farther away
