Nick's Phonak Audéo Lumity 90 R Review [Real User]

  • Nick, a musician and ZipHearing customer, was recently diagnosed with mild hearing loss. He was recommended to get hearing aids by his audiologist and he chose the Phonak Lumity 90s because of their hands-free calling and Bluetooth connectivity. The hearing aids can connect to up to 8 different Bluetooth devices at the same time allowing Nick to easily switch between them. He also appreciates the two-way connection for making calls, as the microphone on the hearing aid picks up his voice. He also likes the charging case and the low-profile design of the hearing aids.

    Great review. Just got these. My audiologist told me I'd be impressed, and she was right.
    We moved from open dome to vented, and my music came back in full living color.

    • @Ziphearing

      YES! So glad to hear that you are impressed by the lumity! The vented domes allow for les low-end frequency to "leak" out of the domes, which makes music sound richer and more lively. Thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe if you haven't done so! ruclips.net/user/Ziphearing?sub_confirmaton=1

    Got these 2 days ago and I can’t believe the difference. They are expensive but I feel I have my hearing back. They do everything Nick says. My audiologist said to check out you tube videos and this is the first one I saw. Love them.

    Your review is outstanding. You give me more confidence since my Audiologist just ordered these Phonak Audeo Lumity 90R hearing aids for me. I'm a long-time hearing aid user but as I've aged, my hearing loss is now considered 'profound'. It's frightening I'll totally lose what I DO have. My Audiologist thinks this will be the best fit for my condition and your review gives me more confidence that this hearing aid is the best choice for me. Thank you.

      Hi @glendahumphrey4683, 8 months later, how are the Lumity 90s treating you?
      Also, did you try any other models?
      My audiologist wants me to pick from these 3 choices:
      Widex Moment
      Phonak Lumity
      Oticon Real
      I'm tempted to hold out to potentially hear/see the Starkey AI 24s.

    Thank you so much for sharing your experience with your hearing aids!
    I’m in the same situation now, where I have to decide for a hearing aid to increase life quality and after all understand conversations with way less misunderstandings. At the same time I don’t want to change my equipment every few minutes just to listen to music in one or talk to people the next moment and switch it all back.
    Didn’t know there were that much differences between all those manufacturers!
    Your impressions and decision making with the Phonak ones help allot, especially due to hearing it from a real life user!
    Thanks once more as your review was really well done and pleasing to me as your audience!

    Great video. I also have the Lumity life 90s, and I primarily have mild hearing loss. I got two frequencies that dip into moderate, but the complaints you had are the same complaints I have with hearing, I am also huge on listening to music. I usually use Apple AirPod pros, and yes, the open dome does take away the crispness of good audio. Have you tried or looked into the active vent? It closes when it notices you’re streaming audio to keep that bass and high treab in your ear. I have found it helps out quite a bit.

    So glad I decided to listen further as you mentioned guitar and music...as part of your review. Getting my first hearing aids and Lumity 90 top on my list. Any hints on settings and/or usage while playing electric guitar and use with Sony studio headphones? Internet says hearings aids add a chorus pedal? Also, can't I just use my air pods for when I know I just listen to music? Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Thanks for a great review well done!!!

    I echo Nicks review. I have had my Lumity 70 HAa about 3 weeks. They don’t have all of the features as the Lumity 90 HAs. I though have the fitted dome ear inserts which I appreciate, most sound routed through the HA. I also considered Widex. Both are great, but liked the Bluetooth and Phone connection options.

    Wow, those things really disappear! I had wanted a completely-in-the-canal hearing aid, but my provider said that's not a good choice because I have good low frequency hearing, but if I just grow my hair out a little bit, I think those would be just as invisible. 👍

    Questions if I may: Is feedback a problem with your open domes. Also, do you experience a deep tremolo on isolated tones (I believe this is an anti- feedback symptom).
    I have trouble with both on my cheaper Signia HA and need to find a replacement that allows me to hear live music untainted.

    I have the Lumity Life 90's, which have been a really good for a first time hearing aid user! I'm still trying to get my devices such as iPad, MacBook, and AppleTV connected. I follow the steps, but no success yet! Hints? As a musician myself, I am noticing the "Bass" is almost missing. Perhaps because with my high frequency being more processed, and the open dome leaking out bass.

    I have the Lumity 50. I had them set up as well as a second visit for the computer tweak. I love them. However. One thing I noticed and you being a musician I had to ask. It seems the only time the hearing aids are not "transparent", meaning the only time they don't sound great is when I play a guitar. Acoustic OR electric. There seems to be a very high end frequency "distortion" of some kind that drives me crazy. It sounds as if there 's an overtone or something that makes it sound "sour". Very slightly. I never hear this at any other time. So far my only remedy is to shut off my hearing aids when I play. Which is not a terrible solution. However I was wondering if you experience the same thing. BTW I do not get this weird sound at any other time. Even when listening to recorded music. It's fine. My audiologist seems to think it's just an anomaly that can't be helped. Would the Lumity 70 or 90 resolve this better? Is there a tweak on the hearing aids that would fix this that's better than shutting them off?

    Q for anyone: using this particular aid - would anyone be able to provide feedback on the hands-free calling? Specifically, the quality of audio the person on the other end of the call? Can they hear the person speaking through the hearing aid well? Do the microphones on the aids work well? Thanks

    • @joshuayonathan5373
      @joshuayonathan5373 7 месяцев назад

      I have the same aids. The hands free calling works well enough in indoor and quiet environments. When there is any noise, the person on the other end will have difficulty hearing.

      Hi, as long as your smartwatch supports Bluetooth classic (A2DP and HFP) it'll work with Audeo Lumity. With A2DP you can listen to music and with HFP you can make hand free phone calls. Please be aware that not all smart watches support these profiles.

The hearing aids are ok just my right ear having trouble with background noise. I have been my new hearing aids for a year. I had my 6 months check up. Something wrong with my hearing aids and send back to Phonak. I can not wear dome ear molds. They hurt my ears. Im getting skeleton ear molds and hope get my hearing aids soon. I heard people told me they are having trouble with Phonak Paradise hearing aids.
    I wish I got the lumity hearing aids because it has green hearing aids. I love color hearing aids. I dont mind show people my hearing aids.

    • @Ziphearing
      @Ziphearing  Месяц назад

      Hi there! Thanks for the great question! The Phonak app on your phone will allow you to do some adjustments on your own by using a system of sliders to adjust low, middle, and high frequencies. When I first got my Lumity's, I would play around with these sliders to get a better understanding for what I liked, then, I would take those notes to my hearing specialist and work with him to fine tune those preferences. He would connect to my hearing aids and then make the changes from the program on his computer, which has many more capabilities than the phone app. Thanks for commenting and be sure to subscribe if you have not done so already! ruclips.net/user/Ziphearing?sub_confirmaton=1
