Instructions: Hide low to the ground, they will wander off. Video tape: Shows a person hiding for a good while and the mimic clearly attacking a low to the ground person
Slight spoilers for vita carnis: The video is misleading on purpose. The organization that runs the network is ran by a cult that hopes in making the public defenseless the anomaly will help(?) them or some other thing. It'll probably be revealed in the next season.

I kind of thought that perhaps there needs to be a certain amount of weight to trigger the Harvester? Like, if something is very light, that (usually) means it’s small and therefore not enough food, so it’s programmed to only activate when a certain amount of weight/pressure is put on it?
When I first saw the mimic, I couldn’t get over how it was pretty much the incarnation of my fear. Vaguely human, but not human, big bulging eyes, could be hiding anywhere, and you wouldn’t know, and impossible to escape if it sees you. And it was still a bad idea to watch this right before going to sleep…
I'm so excited!! The mimic made me actually jump. I was getting used to the mandela catalogue which builds tension and paranoia but doesn't jump so I wasn't prepared Edit: basically the same reaction as matpat
I think the fear of 'imposters' might be related to not knowing who might mug you, kidnap you, murder you, or just be someone that may intend to do harm to you in any way. There's kind of been a big rise of concern regarding people that do awful things, and there's no visual signs of who may be that type of person. Things like Mimics play off of that fear of not knowing what someone's intentions truly are. That's my theory of how it may be related anyway. Kind of a "Anyone you know could be replaced by one of these things at any time, and you'll probably never know until it's too late" idea that gets put in your head.
The scariest thing after watching vita carnis was that there may not be any more videos about it on gtlive but now it is a relief to see the mimic and harvester reaction.
Matpat, there is another hidden Carnis at the end of the full documentary. I highly suggest you look into it in your next video as it is a pretty interesting part of the lore.
34:44 another thing I think it could be is the fact that humans can recognize when something looks almost human when it isn't and that has been spread around and that is a terrifying thought for people, so that could be it
Vita Carnis has the best worldbuilding for any ARG I've seen. All the parts fit together without having to stretch for answers, while still having mystery.
Does anyone else think the mimic at 15:34 kind of looks like an uber nightmarish version of Salad Fingers? I swear as soon as Matt pointed out the oddly long fingers, my mind harkened back to that era of YT horror videos.
Ash using the term “spunky” is by far my favourite thing to ever come out of these five channels combined - for those who don’t know, in the UK (unsure of other countries) “spunk” is another term for male reproductive juices
...huh... you know, when they brought up how horror is influenced by the time it takes place in, I'm honestly surprised they didn't bring up the EXTREMELY obvious fear of IDENTITY THEFT.
I enjoyed that ad "break" way too much. Having Tom phase in was hilarious and then watching it devolve into a witty banter had me more interested in the product than I would have been originally. The product is really cool too!! I genuinely felt as they discussed that they really enjoyed it
12:17 As a D&D fan, I'd love to see a D&D campaign featuring the theorist team (I know Amy is a DM). MatPat would be a perfect Bard (from the College of Loooore, obviously) 🐉
31:21 Why would someone willingly run through a dark house with someone chasing them with that? 😨 I would have a panic attack so fast. 36:04 Nightmarionne, is that you?!
The part where the mimic peeked in the closet or cabinet genuine terrified me for the fist time since I was a little kid, not even the jumpscare, just seeing the uncanny red face just peeking around the door is so unsettling in the best, more horrific way.
Yes!! Practical effects heck yeah! I love when practical effects are used and it's rather sad that they aren't used a lot anymore. Two of my favorite practical effects of all time have to be the giant mechanical trex used for the first Jurassic Park film and the raptor puppet/animatronic that is used for the 3rd Jurassic Park.
I love the practical effects especially in this video and the trimming pet care video but in the other mimic video it makes me sad to say it doesn’t look as good. The face and hands still look great but it’s a person in a costume and mimics are supposed to be tall and super thin which is just somthing human bodies don’t do as dramatically as them. I do wish in that moment it looked better
31:10 It honestly helps me to know that it was a prop. Mainly because I can just imagine them going “ well how do we shove the head into the camera?” “LETS JUST DROP THE HEAD ON THE CAMERA” cause when you go frame by frame it really does look like that. Great jump-scare though!
The alternates, robot-humans, mimics kinda indicate a fear of "what is humanity" to me. It's this fear of "does being human even matter in the face of things that can so easily mimic what we do? To PERFECTION?"
Havesters are scary, Hosts are scary. But mimics are by far the scariest (for me) simply because it looks the most scary. Those stupid eyes and teeth scare me in a way I haven't felt since I was a kid. Legit gonna have trouble sleeping because of Mimics
It'd be an interesting monster concept if a Monster had foldable telescopic bones so it could grow/shrink itself and hide in small enclosed spaces like sink cabinets and kitchen cupboards and slowly leech, absorb and replace body parts of the host while creating more of itself
The squatter: a variant of mimic that is mostily stationary and only becomes active when its time to hunt, living in pumblying of old bildings and ocasualy coming up to devourer fragile prey like old people and small children
i still find it funny that the second after the narrator says "the mimic's diet consists of human flesh" the music just cuts off letting the creature stare into your soul
Canines are for gripping and tearing, incisors are used to cut. Mimics swallow whole chunks of meat when eating, so tearing or chewing isn't as important for them.
32:00 I really like the show Bewitched and all the practical effects they do there. Sure you can kinda tell where the wires are or that they just played a cup breaking back in reverse, but it's still rather convincing. I feel like I really appreciate how and when they use magic like that in that show because they had to get really creative about it. There wasn't any CGI to render whatever they wanted after filming.
the sponsor felt surreal and the takes on water of it having no flavor and then them getting into the sponsor which I am just now thinking is a sponsor makes me feel very confused on how they got the sponsor

Things like Mimics play off of that fear of not knowing what someone's intentions truly are. That's my theory of how it may be related anyway. Kind of a "Anyone you know could be replaced by one of these things at any time, and you'll probably never know until it's too late" idea that gets put in your head.
24:54 I’m actually really happy he knew who he was, I used to watch him, and the mention of him brought back so many memories
The scariest thing after watching vita carnis was that there may not be any more videos about it on gtlive but now it is a relief to see the mimic and harvester reaction.
I love how they manage turning a 8 minute video into a 45 minute one, it truly proves that they don't miss any details
And the tangents they go off on
@@KaleidoscopeWillow55 thats true too
tangents like captions saying "um" before the mimic jumpscare
gotta have room for that *Witty Banter*
Matpat, there is another hidden Carnis at the end of the full documentary. I highly suggest you look into it in your next video as it is a pretty interesting part of the lore.
34:44 another thing I think it could be is the fact that humans can recognize when something looks almost human when it isn't and that has been spread around and that is a terrifying thought for people, so that could be it
I like that there are actual ways to escape mimics unlike with for example alternates, like it just gives it a more realistic feel (?) maybe even
Vita Carnis has the best worldbuilding for any ARG I've seen.
Bacon fingers
@@M3sierr EXACTLY~! To say I cackled at the visual this created is an /understatement/!
I can just imagine a Mimic grazing in the grasslands like a bunny.
6:16 never thought I would get such strong Rick and Morty dimensional cable vibes from a GTlive episode
Ash using the term “spunky” is by far my favourite thing to ever come out of these five channels combined
- for those who don’t know, in the UK (unsure of other countries) “spunk” is another term for male reproductive juices
This is the only channel that can make me enjoy watching sponsorships.
Agreed, I skip every sponsorship aside from this one
Fr they could probably make a compilation of sponsorships and id enjoy it
I skipped this sponsorship too
@@justindai8401 yeah same haha. no matter how creative the ad is, I will still skip it because I don't plan on buying it.
Yeah! MatPat sponsorships! Give us the promos! ☺️
Wonderful, another analog horror series to give me terrifying nightmares that I will remember for a week and will prevent me from sleeping entirely.
Precisely.
@@nonsensicalhumanoid mayonnaise man lmbo your username is perfect
I feel bad for you
I'm taking double dose of relaxant tonight o-o
I’m not sleeping tonight
I just recently watched the "mimic" one on my own. Can't wait to see how Matpat reacted to "that" scene.
Got him good lmao
...huh... you know, when they brought up how horror is influenced by the time it takes place in, I'm honestly surprised they didn't bring up the EXTREMELY obvious fear of IDENTITY THEFT.
MatPat after getting a nat 1 history check: the fnaf timeline LOOOORE
He'd sing psychic friend fredbear 😂
I feel like he should be his own monster
Hearing Ash die in the background at "Chuck's Hole" is a source of Joy.
44:49
VEIN! NOT THING! I KNOW I DESERVE A NERD EMOJI FOR IT BUT MY BODY CANNOT TAKE IT WITHOUT RETALIATION!
The mimic jumpscare got me so bad I threw my phone from flinching so hard💀
Same
I jabbed my hand in front of my face😅
I just discovered that I'm 50% more likely to lean into an ad if it's presented with a British accent. Also Ash's incredible ending
Have you ever seen the old Carpenter movie called The Thing?
I love the practical effects especially in this video and the trimming pet care video but in the other mimic video it makes me sad to say it doesn’t look as good. The face and hands still look great but it’s a person in a costume and mimics are supposed to be tall and super thin which is just somthing human bodies don’t do as dramatically as them. I do wish in that moment it looked better
I like that the close caption's is just there saying "hmm" as if it's curious at what's happening
At the 30:12 mark
31:10 It honestly helps me to know that it was a prop. Mainly because I can just imagine them going “ well how do we shove the head into the camera?” “LETS JUST DROP THE HEAD ON THE CAMERA” cause when you go frame by frame it really does look like that. Great jump-scare though!
The first time I watched the mimic episode, I had the most visceral reaction I’ve had in a long time when that jumpscare happened
“The vita carnis planet just comes in…” at 20:01 basically predicted the singularity before seeing it 😂
The alternates, robot-humans, mimics kinda indicate a fear of "what is humanity" to me.
“when you eat ribs:” oh that mimic is eating ribs alright.
"80% of your taste is flavor"
Tom, you are a true gem.
The acting is absolutely insane anyways yay I have been waiting for this !
I want a movie set in the universe of Vita Carnis from the perspective of just a normal person.
Either the Mimic attacks you when you're asleep... or not
You can tell this is gonna be a good one
You can tell you made this comment just so it could be reconzed since your early
i still find it funny that the second after the narrator says "the mimic's diet consists of human flesh" the music just cuts off letting the creature stare into your soul
Incisors are actually the tearing teeth within our mouth.
"The more we know"
@@Potato_Of_Regrets :)
Canines are for gripping and tearing, incisors are used to cut. Mimics swallow whole chunks of meat when eating, so tearing or chewing isn't as important for them.
This is the only way I can watch this. I can’t watch horror without commentary or friends. Anyway Great reactions!
"Who is chuck, and what's so special about his hole?" Best quote ever
help I'm only 19:01 into the video
So happy he's continuing this series.
When the sponsor is good, you know the video itself is bound to be great
the sponsor felt surreal and the takes on water of it having no flavor and then them getting into the sponsor which I am just now thinking is a sponsor makes me feel very confused on how they got the sponsor
@@kerstr0347 I think Mat supposedly reached out after having gotten one for himself on his own. I don't remember what video he first mentioned it in though.
sadly the promotioncode doesnt work.
@@TammoHP yeah and those cups are pretty expensive
@@Michealthekiller yeah it's minimum $40 for a bottle and three pods, but you also have to pay $7.99 shipping on orders under $50. Way too expensive for me for only three pods
I like how Mat just became an Olympic long jumper during the mimic jumpscare
Everything in the mimic video is scary because they make sure the recording sounds so nonchalant about it’s terrifying behaviors
35:35
The moment I became doubtful on whether or not Mathew actually knows what Prop Hunt is.
I do believe that there are at least *some* variants of prop hunt where the props are, to some degree, capable of fighting back, but correct me if I'm wrong.
@@nonsensicalhumanoid I'm only aware of one version, where the props are completely helpful, only able to hide, and negotiate if all the players were in call together.
And the only ones with any sort of weapon or offense, are the hunters.
I wouldn't be surprised to find that there are variants out there, to whatever degree they might be different.
But, this is the only one I know for a fact exists.
21:24 They pointed out that Japan apparently has a bigger mimic problem than a lot of other places, and I just went "ah, Tokyo Ghoul!"
I want Vita Carnis to get as much recognition as Mandela Catalog or even more, because that is the only analog horror series that inspired me to create my own series. I absolutely love that MattPat is looking into Vita Carnis.❤
What’s ur series called
@Gearhead it's currently called "Project REALM". The idea was "what if creatures from a fantasy world started coming into our world"
@@alexderus1179hope i can see it sometime
I love the part when he screamed "ITS MIMICKING TIME!" and then mimiced oll over the place
This is like my new favorite analog series it’s just basically Mother Earth fighting back and killing off humans and their waste
I’ve rewatched vita Carnis but I never noticed the paper scrap about the family four, there is a video later on which is the family is attacked and it gets gnarly. It was rough to watch (for being terrifying not poorly made)
You have to watch the full documentary, at the end there is a 7th creature that's important
Ash has become my all time favourite GT-Live cast person. Like she was already awesome, but she skyrocketed on that promo announcement🤣
All chucks watching: “my time has come”
i like the fact that this just feels like nature
like... the reason the mimic is so terrifying to us is because humans live where there are no natural predators for us. nothing HUNTS humans in this day and age. thsi just seems like nature doing weird stuff (which it already does) and we're just not on top anymore.
Not even a full minute in and I'm already spiting my drink out at these jokes 😆 😆
Ditto
yess you did the mimic! they’re probably the scariest creature imo, because of how skilled they are at hunting humans
30:05 yeah, this is the moment I was waiting for, ever since MatPat was starting to see the Vita Carnis videos!!
51:00 remember the "the birds work for the bourgeoisie" meme...I feel old
Oh GOD!!! If Chuck ?Norris cant' stop the mimics, THEN WE'RE ALL DOOMED!!!
