I really don't mind watching you work on this illustration 4 weeks in a row. It's actually nice to see how you do it, every step of the way without you hiding important information from us with time lapse.
Actually, I really like having the same subject matter in multiple videos, because you not only learn how to do each individual part, but you get to see how these pieces come together as a whole.
I like this series because you get to see you come to the final product as opposed to just thinking you color it and it ends up that way. a lot more goes into it.
I could watch you all day! Or *cough* accidentally all night......LOL Time flies when I'm chuckling at your commentary and drawing!!!!! You rock, Mark!
These videos are so peaceful. They remind me of Bob Ross when I was a kid and just watch him paint "happy clouds" for an hour. These things are great.
It's nice to have these videos playing in the background while I draw in my sketch book
DON'T YOU STOP MAKING THESE VIDEOS CRILLY!!!!! i need this in my life right now. I am trying to get better at adding the correct colors to my drawings and this is helping me a lot. Thanks again.
Man, I just sat here for the last couple hours or so watching these videos off and on again. I can't wait for the final installment of this series, Friday can't come soon enough.
I don't have much of your published works, but I follow your channel constantly, looking for new videos. You inspire me to keep working on my art.
Thank you ever so much.
Still here! I wouldn't miss a week with my favorite artist.
how? how do you manage to make brilliant drawings/paintings even more spectacular than there were with such simplicity, but it looks like perfection? how? I am extremely jealous of your skills!
I really like how much you take into consideration what is best for your audience. Like tips, strategies, and general information. This is why your videos are the best!
please continue to make more of these, I love seeing all of the rough edges and how you deal with said issues.
I wish more of your videos were like this, with no time laps. It has been the first line of enjoyable videos in the longest. They're nice and helpful, not to mention inspiring.
Please do more of these long-form videos. I love watching the process and it helps me learn a lot about the stuff in between.
I really like this type of video, because it's really relaxed and we gets a bit closer to how you "really" draws.
throughout all these videos he mentions things also in Mastering Manga... love it!
Am really enjoying the "no time lapse" series, gives a better representation of what it really takes to produce an illustration.
I don't find this type of video boring, Mark. I'm sure there are many of us out there ready to glean any new useful tidbit from your lesson, PLUS, you're a very entertaining dude!
Not to mention that just watching him draw his life would be really cool to watch as well
Love you're work. You can draw as long as you like. I almost get so sad when it is time to end the video. You are an inspiration to all and keep the videos coming.
I love this series. It's nice to hear you work through your process as we watch it happen. Personally, it gives me a better understanding of why you're making the choices you are. I would love to see you do one of these again in the future.
Things I have learned so far from this non time-lapsed series:
1. Watercolors don't just come in dry circular palettes, but also tubes.
2. Don't try to put watercolors down until you're happy with your initial pencil lines.
3. Mark Crilley does one awesome Brooklyn accent impression, as well as a surfer.
Art in its purest form.
I've really enjoyed all these videos so far. I never really understood how someone combines watercolor and pencil (or really, how to even use watercolors) so I was able to get some great tips. Plus, it's interesting to see an artist gain inspiration from another artist and view all the small editing that happens during an illustration. I can't wait to see the final polishing video!
i love the way you combine watercolour with coloured pencil.
Every video is a masterpiece. Thanks for the no time lapse, it got me to absorb every detail in this trilogy of drawing videos. Thanks Mark, you've been a great influence to this young artist. Sincerely, Jacob
It has required no patience, it's been a joy and a pleasure to watch this series
I agree the q&a videos more than cover anything he could possibly do in a draw my life video.
I love the way you've done this four-part series! I hope you do more just like it!
Brilliant! It's a fool who would complain about a tutorial like this from a master of his craft such as you
Thanks for this series, Mark. I'm looking forward to seeing the final video.
i have watched so many of your videos but still i can't get over the way you hold a pencil
I love your multiple voices XD
You've got Yourself, The Viewers, Surfer Dude, Brooklyn Guy, and Old Man Time Lapse~ :3
Dr. Sonigir ^_^
Thank you again for making these! This is more like an art "course" than your stand alone videos but I really appreciate being taught the concepts rather than following along line by line. Hearing your planning process is very helpful! :)
These series are fantastic! Can't wait for the next episode
One of the best videos! I love it when you don't do time lapse I love how you explain all that to and when you talk about miyazaki and the way he do does things
Wonderful job at real time work, Mark. Keeping it real without time-lapse adds a personal touch to your work, and the extra tips you put into the videos in this series, for serious artists to take for future reference, means a lot.
Keep inspiring others with your work, Mark. You can count on me continuing to watch:D
Another excellent video, Mark. i've loved watching the real-time illustrations. Hope you do more of them in the future. Time-lapse is all very well to help get the message across in the shortest possible time but I've never been a 'rusher' and this series has suited me down to the ground. Thanks.
I love these videos, its so cool to see the entire process unedited which can be really helpful, thanks for these videos and all the ones you do...
These aren't boring, these are great!! Really helpful! It helps me feel more confident in my art :) Thanks.
I like this series of videos. Kind of reminds me of that artist I used to watch on PBS when I was younger
I've watched all 3 so far, love them all!
It'd be nice to see this sort of series twice a year, its a nice change to follow a in depth illustration. (:
I've never had a mentor to teach me art. Besides my art teacher who tells me to do projects and you, Mark Crilley. Besides you, I taught myself how to draw. But if it wasn't for your videos, I wouldn't have improved. Thanks a lot :)
I am enjoying the NO! TIME LAPSE! series... Thank you.
Well, thanks to these videos I learned about perspective, reflexion in the water and being able to make the grass look like actual grass. So yeah, I really like these videos and are very helpful.
Thanks a lot Mark :)
I love your drawings and videos no matter how long.
Mark, I have watch the first three videos in this series, and look forward to seeing the fourth!! Thank you for not doing time lapse and narrating all of the process'!!!
I love all of your videos including the illustration set your doing. I feel as if I am really there on that dirt road..... you are amazing and can't wait to get your books!
I am patient, and I love your work. Please, more of it!
I just ordered ( yesterday) your book from amazon, arrives next Wednesday. Can't wait! Thank you for these videos.
This has not been a chore and very informative.
Excellent series of videos. Really inspirational. Regarding the rain - even if it's not going to be visible, there should be an indication of some drops bouncing of the puddles
It's called a relief -- an obelisk is a tall, four-sided, pointy monument made of stone, kinda like a stretched pyramid. Besides that, I LOVE your grass! It looks really thick and luxuriant :)
Hi Mark I just love watching your videos, They are so helpful in my projects that I'm doing or ate least trying to do Thank you ....Keep your paper clean and your pencils sharp...
I for one did not get bored! I've already learned so much, and even was able to get up the courage to try my own water color picture, which surprisingly was not the disaster I thought it would be. (Still not great though) So these videos were in no way a waste of time, and I look forward to the next one!
Loving this series. Best yet for me personally. Obviously you're amazing. Thanks for sharing!
Mark, I love your work! You have really shown not only me but many people that simple little details make things 10 times better then before! Amazing work, can't wait till next weeks video!!

i love these series and i certainly don't get bored, this is really helpful and inspiring and interesting especially to me !
are you kidding me, this video series is great. I just wish I could watch all of the series in one day. but I totally appreciate this series and am learning from it. please do a lot more just like this. as well as anime characters in different sceneries. thanks for the vids.
I actually really like this video series! If you did more non-time lapse videos like this I would not be opposed to it in the slightest.
I've fallen inlove with your artwork!
I found these videos really helpful, even just to see the time that goes into an illustration like that :) It's nice to see how the whole piece comes together as you go through each phase. I think your videos go way beyond step-by step "how to draw manga", I find myself using a lot of your tips and techniques in all my drawing, so thanks a lot! :D
i actually seriously enjoy these videos!!! I really like listening to u talk and watching u draw as I work on my own drawing. I really wouldnt mind if u do another one of these :3
I'm really enjoying this video series and whilst I also love the timelapse including videos, I'd love to see a series like this done again some time :)
Mark "Please do more of 4 weeks in a row" :D haha.
Mark these are excellent, always a enjoy to listen and hear your voice of wisdom and chatter.
Learn a lot as always and a great 22:25 minutes spent!
Great work! This was posted at the perfect time. Your words and love of what you do always motivate me back to my drawing table so... thank you! :)
These no time lapse videos are awesome! I was hoping if you could also do more of these videos on backgrounds with more nature in it. Like a garden or the top of a hill...
I found your no time lapse video both very helpful and entertaining. Thank you and please do more in the future.
I really love these videos and would love to see many more!
I'm one of the hangers-on. I've been enjoying the learning, as well as your sense of humor.
So excited for next weeks video they are going bye so fast!!!!!
this is the best drawing ever! i improve my drawing cause watching this thanks!
Yay!!! I luv the art in Totoro too!!!
i can't believe i watched all of this and i'm really excited about the last video. and please put a high quality version of this work to your deviantart because it really feels like i own this illustration, i mean, i've watched all of the phases. i don't know, i just want to see the whole of it in high quality. i think i have made an emotional connection with this videos :D thank you so much for it and i've learned a lot.
I always LOVE watching your video's! You've inspired me to try using more traditional methods of drawing and I've enjoyed seeing these non time lapse video's too. Thank you again c:
Mark, thx a lot for the video! Is amazing and inspiring see you bring life to the drawing!!
God Bless You!!!
I love these videos. I'd happily watch much longer ones. Keep it coming :)
Praise be to the Crilley!
This is really good stuff. Very interesting approach to learning how to draw and create art. Bravo
Mark, I absolutelly loved this serie you made. It's incredibly useful to see an artist developing a work. Amazing!
Thanks for doing that. Having the "pacience" to watch it is very easy 'cause I usually let your videos playing while I do something else for I think you have a great voice! hahaha
Congratulations and thanks again :)
Great video :D
For an aspiring (manga) artist like myself, this really is a great chance to see how to work with colors and how to use several media together.
Again, thank you and keep up the great work!!!!
i really appreciate tht you did this
Mark you should make a DVD compilation of all of your youtube videos to date. Id buy it an im sure im not the only one.
I watch them all. They're good
I have enjoyed this series immensely jsyk mark :) I hope you do it again. It has been vastly educational and has brought more of a humanistic and relational quality to your videos for me at least. I now can see the process and time it takes even a seasoned professional to complete a work of art so it makes me feel less pathetic. :D
You kidding Mark? The fact that you work 4 weeks on a project actually makes me look FORWARD to the next one (not that wouldn't be the case with other videos you put out, but I mean in the sense of "oh, it looks like this now... I wonder what kind of info and things I'll see next week".
Just the same, I look forward to next week! :D
i admire your work soo much, wish i could be more artistic like u
looks really cool
15:52 Mark 'can never find the right word' Crilley drops the word diffuse in like it was nothing. :) Crilley you're a legend looking forward to readin Brody's Ghost in its entirety.
I've like these videos and I look forward to the completed project. Gives people with less experience, using different mediums, a chance to see that it isn't so overwhelming to use different techniques to get the picture on the paper. And the "spine" is technically called a "ridge" but who's to nitpick. Haha great video.
Thank you, Mr. Crilley these videos have helped me a lot! You're a really good teacher. I appreciate all the work you put into this. Thanks :-)
Mark, these videos are REALLY AMAZING, so don't stop coming to us with this good stuff ;)
I like these videos a lot I hope you do more of them...
I love your drawings with scenery, it makes me really want to pick up my own pencil :D
I'm totally agreeing with you!! :D Do series like this in the future too Mark!
I like your voice, Mark. So much in fact that I play your videos in the background while I draw.
Awesome! I'm enjoying this series so much. You can do full videos any time you want as far as I'm concerned. :-)
I've actually really been looking forward to this video
Many thanks to you, Mr. Crilley ^^
good stuff Mark. Really enjoying this series.
